Can't open the backpacks by touching them.

upon finishing a mission that gives a backpack as a reward, I can no longer touch the backpack to open it. I have to touch the bar at the bottom to open it. This began with the last update. I like having the option to touch the bag to open it. Was this intentional or a glitch?
Anyone else getting this?
