Not getting compasses from crates

Hello,
I used my last compass this morning. Since then, I have hit many, many crates (crate challenge board tile) and have not received a single compass from any of them.
Has getting compasses from crates been disabled?

Edit: After posting this I finally got a compass this evening.
Why did it take all day to get one?

    In my experience you have a high chance of getting a compass, when you collect the first boxes of your new energy window.
