xp balance on mission, etc. and new gas and xp purchase

It looks like the xp increase was around a 10% bump up for mission and walkers on the wall. I don't think that this is enough to fix the unbalanced xp economy. I was not impressed by the x2 xp and limitless gas being a cash feature instead of with gold. They are inexpensive, but make the game a sinkhole for money once you go that route. Even if you just do it 1 day a week, it will be $5 a week forever as the mechanism for balance. I prefer a game that you just pay one time and then you are done to this kind of "free" game I think.

25% scrap in back is huge step forward what I fight for last few months.
But XP exploration maps still are poorly balanced. 6 gas cost vs 5300 guarantee xp on lvl 18 looks horrible.
Gas cost need to be lowered or XP increased.
XP tents are also in deep hole and waiting for boost.

Does anyone know is you buy the XP Booster and scrap from your armory, will those scrap values be double too? With the new change to the value of old leveled gear that would be a huge advantage.

@NCDawgFan I don't know. Once someone pays for it you will know. With the pay for gas and double xp (which really would be necessary if you want to move forward), at the high levels, the game is really looking like some kind of subscription service than a free game.

@Amiga That is a big change, but overall, the xp balance is not there. I don't even know if it is even close. The only way it works is if you do the double xp with the unlimited gas (depending on what is doubled in the double xp). They are not expensive but the game then becomes a subscription service.

I agree that changes in XP balance are limited only to increased XP scrap. Of course is huge difference but like I said XP exploration Missions has still bottleneck.
XP boost by 10% for players 45+ means nothing...

@dozerati Yes, that is what it appears to be.

@Amiga Maybe, because that would be doubled with the purchase.

@SgtSalami I agree, ftp games are the worst. You should check out Titan Quest on the App Store a really great game with no in-game purchases. The best part is it's designed to entertain and be enjoyed by players not prey on them.

Yeah...if you didn´t scrap the stuff last weekend to get a benefit from the 5 second upgrade event...and isn´t it just for uplevelled gear?

  • SgtSalamiSgtSalami Member Posts: 554
@Invader yes it is just for upgraded gear

So it´s another non benefit for low level players that are selling every item to get xp

I wish everyone would realize that they didn't fix the economy, they only found another way to profit off of it. It's really not good for any player.

They only increased them by a tiny, insignificant amount to make it look like they did something good. If people *think* they are listening, then they will complain less. It's a basic (and misleading) marketing strategy. In reality, WE ALL still have the same problem. Giving me an extra 500 XP for a mission did basically nothing to help me collect 600k XP to 1.1 mil XP and beyond. It's a figurative drop in the ocean. On the other hand, you have all the people who were always spending $ anyway cheering about how awesome it is to have a new way to spend $, drowning out all the ftp players who still have to spend months trying to upgrade enough to play one single episode that they can't even finish without going through multiple cycles of upgrade. You might say this is due to "bad luck" when it comes to survivor drops and equipment drops, but, IMO, NG hasn't done enough to make the game playable as the "FTP" they advertised. It is ok in the beginning and a lot more fun in earlier levels where everything is less expensive in XP and tomatoes, but if you progress very far into the game you start to just spin your wheels. They exponentiated the costs of everything but didn't account for it in rewards, and still haven't.

I agree, like many games, it's only ftp up to a point and then becomes ptp to compete for top placement and/or reach the endgame in any appropriate time frame, and to get exclusive stuff.
But like all ftp games with IAP there is no inference that it's ftp for everything offered in the game. So it definitely is ftp "as advertised" and there's more here that's ftp then some games.
No ftp game in this class survives on ad revenue alone.

    *pun intended
    * I put "hero" and "heroes" in quotes for a reason.
** Still on a spending boycott of equipment and gas booster and gold.

About ad revenue, I'd like to point out that You Tube is "FtP" and exists solely on ad based income. It's worth about 70 BILLION on its own (from Fortune). So...yeah. The ads are definitely a source of income not to be ignored, underestimated or dismissed out of hand.

We're not talking about add-ons and extras. We are talking about the game's economy, central to the function of the game, and totally necessary for every player to be able to deal with. You can't screw that up so bad that the game becomes virtually unplayable without purchasing gas, supplies, etc and still claim you are ftp. At that point it's a fraudulent claim.

Except that's not descriptive of this game, not by a long shot. I progressed at a good pace, without spending money all the way through to the end of story mission Episode 12, and player level 42, and Challenge is completely playable for free for many rounds in all the different maps. I didn't have serious balance issues until around player level 43-44. So my point still stands.

In fact, there are some who would say they can do it all for free, and that it just takes a lot longer.

I've only spent 3$...just so I could take advantage of one of the weekend events, and I regret giving them anything. If you got super lucky and pulled some amazing high level survivors early, good for you. but that is not the case for most of us. I have just a handful of the story missions left in nightmare mode. But the current survivor levels don't allow you to move on unless you have one of those amazing/super lucky drops. And they say they aren't finished adding episodes. I'm a 45. I have completed roughly 8 player levels just trying to upgrade enough to play those nightmare levels, and I am still overpowered by walkers. So, no, your point is not valid. You just got lucky. Or you haven't completed hard and nightmare yet. They are still levels to the central game, not extras.

I truly don't see them adding new episodes till the show comes back. I'm certain they have them in the works and will launch them then, but until then....spoilers.

I kind of wonder if you are right about the timing of new episodes, @GreenBalloon. I won't be here by that time, whether I finish what I'd like to finish or not. I am going back to work soon and definitely won't have time for this. In a way I am glad to be in such a demanding/high stress field, because it will save me from the frustration of this game...lol.

Again: This is most certainly a free to play game. How much did you pay to download and start playing? That's right ZERO. NOTHING. smh

How much do the owners of this game owe you when you have not spent any money? That's right, NOTHING.

Whether money was paid or not, as a player @jt41 still contributed to the ARPU and thereby, their revenue. The same is true for all FtP players. Being rude isn't necessary.

They are making money off of us all, whether we willingly give it to them out of our own wallets or whether it comes from advertisements.

I'm not concerned if they "owe" anything, but they are obligated to deliver what they claim, which they have out and out failed at many times over, not just in ftp v ptp, but even in their announcements and in the changing of the characteristics of items AFTER people give them money. Don't believe me? Look back through these forums for a good bit and see it all. Also, I'd like to point out to you that they have been claiming they will fix the economy for months. Instead they have compounded the problem with several new releases, each where they increased the costs drastically instead of putting a freeze on it or charging something reasonable, and kept saying "oh this is a really hard thing to fix." And now "woohooo" here is a way you can pay them to make the pill a little less bitter to swallow while they make even more money and you STILL have to grind for months because of the mess they created but will not fix.
That said, this is why I chose a personal endpoint in the game. Because they will never fix this. They are making too much money. I really thought I'd be done by now but the upgrading is endless and I still can't make my own goal, which was just to finish Nightmare 11. If my next strategy doesn't work, I will just quit trying. Again, they ruined this game with greed, so common among ftp games, but I don't know why people won't admit it.
