@eetu said, "....we'll try to keep the xp-gaining avenues open for free players as well."

By "try", does this mean you may not be successful? What role does NG envision for ftp players going forward? If they can't gain xp, that leaves them no recourse but to leave the game or become ptp players.

@PR0DJ or they can do the same new upgrade system with the gear. So Tokens = parts?

And I really hope they don't forget to give more tokens for survivors you spent XP on to upgrade instead of going just by the level number when you trade them in.

@eetu, I wish NG could implement another "fix" other than capping the walker killed XP's. But if capping is the only way, please consider a much higher threshold than 75. In an hour of farming you can kill 750-1000 walkers. That seems like a reasonable amount to allow while stopping cheaters from running something all night. If they want to get up hourly to reset it, they deserve the XP. ;)

People sit in a single Challenge mission for an hour on a regular basis?

    Not a Challenge mission @theRealBender, but 7.4 or 9.3.

But you can only do that a very limited number of times (3x). But if they finally open the story missions to repeat play i may do so as well lol

@LadyAquila When watching Premier League matches all saturday afternoon, i keep my cell phone next to me and farm 4 to 5 hours straight. Am I a cheater? And if not, why should I be penalized?
The new upgrade results in a simple equation: less ways to gain XP + increased need for XP = drop money in the game or get left behind....

Without mentioning the loss of thrill when summoning survivors... From now on every trash 1 star survivor has the potential to become a 19/19 leg...as long as you put the coin. That's sad.

@Nehiva I don't think upgrading from 1-star to 5-star survivors will be very easy. I believe it will be a long, hard road (to do for free). So getting a Legendary from a radio tower pull can still be exciting.

@theRealBender Not only 3x. After farming ppl just flee the mission at the expense of sending someone to the hospital. So its always there.

@Nehiva exactly, we are losing 2 sources of xp like have lots of it and theyre making it easy for the ptp players to gain an advantage over the rest

Believe me, @Nehiva, I am in full agreement with you. I often use my last 4 gas to start up 7.4 and farm (even off and on sometimes if I get interrupted) until I have full gas again. I don't want a cap on it at all, but it seems like that is the decision that is coming down. At this point, I'm trying to lobby for a much higher cap than the initially announced 75.

@LadyAquila Lol, same here, saving those last 4 cans of gas, waiting for the stack to fully replennish afterwards. Still can't believe it will be gone :'(

@OneLessTitan we shall find other means. Adapting is the answer :) oh, i wasn't really expecting for 1 star drops to come all the way up, it would be a pain to do that. But it is actually possible though. Thanks all for the feedback!

How do you farm those two episodes you mentioned more than 3 times?
If you bail out after a long session of farming, do you get to keep the XP?

yes, you keep the XP. You just send a survivor to the hospital with heavy injury.

Excellent news. Being able to upgrade your survivor through the different levels and rarities is sweet. Now you don't have to retire a survivor if you don't want to. I guess now the only reason to retire someone is if you want to get a similar survivor with different traits....well, that is, unless you don't like the way they look or their name...lol
It will be interesting to see how many tokens it takes to upgrade to the next rarity level vs the amount of tokens you get for retiring someone / not accepting a radio call.
  • LadyAquilaLadyAquila Member Posts: 625
Yes, @EL34xyz, if you select the FLEE option rather than finishing, you can replay as much as you want. As @Nehiva said, you have to choose 1 survivor to get a heavy injury. I usually pick the one that has taken a couple of hits anyway. Also, you do not receive any crate rewards because you were not successful.

On nightmare mode, each walker kill is worth 75 points, so 3 hours of farming time can net ~250k XP.

    Thanks for the info,
I have not had to flee maybe more than once or twice at the very beginning of the game
That was a couple months ago for me
I did not know you get to keep the XP when you flee

Question for a moderator: Council level 16, Training grounds level 14, Legendary Hunter 15/19 = Do I lose Hunter level 15/19 to be Hunter level 15/14 or 14/14? I'm lost with this right now :-(
  • limeyjohnlimeyjohn Member Posts: 215
@Tastycakes l don't believe so, if they downgraded survivors the rollback fallout would seem mild

@Tastycakes here's how training grounds work

If your training grounds is level 17 then the max survivor you can have is 18
If your training grounds is level 16 then the max survivor you can have is 17
If your training grounds is level 15 then the max survivor you can have is 16
If your training grounds is level 14 then the max survivor you can have is 15
If your training grounds is level 13 then the max survivor you can have is 14
If your training grounds is level 12 then the max survivor you can have is 13
If your training grounds is level 11 then the max survivor you can have is 12

If you already have a level 15/19 legendary hunter that means you at least have level 14 training grounds unlocked

If you have level 14 training grounds unlocked then it will be 15/15
If you have level 15 training grounds unlocked then it will be 15/16
If you have level 16 training grounds unlocked then it will be 15/17

Once you level this particular survivor we are talking about up to level 17/17 (based upon that you stated council is level 16) you will then need to update your council to the next level so that you can update your training grounds to the next level and therefore upgrade your survivor to the next level.

It will be impossible to have the first number be higher than your second number.

So to directly answer your question since you have advised your council is level 16 and training grounds is level 14 this survivor were speaking of will be adjusted to 15/15 (since 15 is the highest you can be based upon your training grounds level.

Infact all of your survivors, regardless of their second number, will all be dropped to xx/15 UNTIL you upgrade your training grounds to the next level and then ALL of your survivors will become xx/16 and be upgradable again.

Hope that helps explain it :)

What this also means is if you have a lvl 12/12 survivor it will immediately jump up to 12/15 and be able to upgrade that survivor without having to use radio calls to hope for a better one. This change in the upgrade system breathes life into old unusable survivors.

    (Yes, our office has one)

A lot of players are playing the game competitively in some way. For any competitiveness to make sense there has to be a level playing field. Just the knowledge of someone getting ahead by unsavory means can ruin it. So it has to go.

@eetu, very cool (umm hot) about the sauna ;)

Just an observation, the level playing field has a certain discrepancy in as much as people can spend a TON of money to throw the competitiveness off. For instance, I was raided within a couple of hours of the council being at the level high enough to be able to then upgrade the training grounds to be able to upgrade survivors to level 17. I was raided with 3 level 17 hunters. There was not enough time to gather enough supplies or let the upgrades occur without spending a pretty good chunk of change.

So the level playing field is a bit of a fiction more than something can be obtained. Not calling out anyone who spends money, all people come from different points of view in terms of spend and time, and I have bought bundles so I am not a "free" player, but there is simply no way I can be competitive with many others who spend a nice chunk of change.

I don't like to be pushed to pay but I would like to buy bundle with gold but you as NG don't offer it. Silly situation. Isn't it? Customer want to buy something but is not offered...

Yes, surely people can get things faster by paying. But you can get to the same place for free. We've looked at the data, and a sizable portion of max council players have spent nothing, and I like that.
So you don't like me :(;)

Maybe in the future we will have dynamic bundles with dynamic pricing, dreamed up by an AI. Just the bundle you want, at the maximum price you would be willing to pay... Until then, we'll just have static old fashioned bundles. We've heard your case, and the people who decide these things will decide on the bundle contents using all the information available.
