Morgan's Staff

I've never used Morgan's staff before because it was lower level when I purchased previously. So I just tried it in XP side mission and the result was better than I expected with area stun capability. Very useful. Has anyone used Morgan's staff in challenge missions or episode missions requiring meele attacks? I'd like to find out how useful or effective in those situations. I'm not sure how effective in outpost defense setup because I always took care of bruisers before they can attack with staff.
Thanks.

    Morgan Staff is the most unique weapon in whole game. I'm sure it's really handy in Outposts ;)
    But shame is has no concussion ;(
    I pass with this one as well...

    I bought it but only because my brusiers are level 18 so it was worth the cost to me :)

    @Amiga

    You must had a great holiday and refreshed and that's why you come back so fast. ;)
    Yeah, if it comes with concussion, that would be an awesome weapon. Maybe I'll try to taste its attack in outpost experiment to see how handy it is.
    Thanks.

    Well, I just tried it in outpost and my 2 survivors got stunned by staff with one turn. Pretty effective. But I had to give bruiser 2 chances before my team got stunned because both had gold dodge and gold luck. Thus, its effectiveness in outpost may depend on raider's traits. But, I have a feeling it can be very useful in challenge, episode, and side missions.
    So it's a buy for me.

    Sorry if this is a stupid question, but the bruiser charge ability has an area stun already. Is the stun area bigger with Morgan's staff? Then it would be a possilbe buy for me, although I still think 10 euros is a little high for one weapon and only 15 radios. Never mind the outfits, useless shit imo.

    Area stun as a charge attack is the same. Morgan staff normal attack is like Warrior. That's unique.
    Price is too high. Indeed, especially without gold which cost nothing to NG...just pixels...

    You can stun up to 3 walkers with it, but you must be in the right position & so must they

    why is the staff thats being offered to me only a lvl 16...with potential to be upgraded to lvl 19?
  • LightfeetLightfeet Member Posts: 1,062
    @BigFellaSteve It's lvl16 due to the reason that your highest bruiser is lvl16 only. Upgrade him to lvl18 (if possible) prior to purchase und you'll get a 18/21 staff.

    If I do an outpost raid and see a bruiser with Morgan's Staff, I kill that bruiser first. Learned that lesson the hard way...thankfully it doesn't have extra concussion or you'd get slaughtered even quicker with the 3 turn stuns that happen in outposts.

    @OneLessTitan how do you tell if they have a Morgan staff?? While typing this I thought to myself prolly wear your reading glasses so you can see the weapon dummy lol and a bigger phone screenol

    @Ovidmikel -- when the raid load screen is warming up, and they show the Survivor Matchup...you can see the weapons the other survivors have...Morgan's staff is one of the few I can tell what it is since it looks pretty unique. It strikes fear into me, unlike the giant wrench which cracks me up.

    I have a tangent question, not sooo much off topic but it is relevant.
    Once upon a time they nerfed the STUN ability, and I was under the impression that Gold and Silver stun were basically the same.

    So I chose to upgrade a weapon with only silver stun opting for the gold Interrupt.

    I've noticed in outpost I've been stunned for 3 turns. Did I misunderstand the nerf? does it only apply when I face a +1,2 or higher dude?

    Just curios if it's worthwhile to go for a Gold Concussion now

    @DangerB -- I think it's a glitch in outposts. I could be wrong since its been 6 months since I've used a bruiser, so haven't noticed if 3 turn stuns happen in regular gameplay.

    (Edit: I reported this in Bugs just in case. I was a bit shocked when it happened to me.)

    3 round stuns are visual only. If you get a 2 round stun but still have action points on your other survivors it will say 3 until you complete that turn. Then you have 2 rounds of being stunned. the 3 only is there as a place holder to indicate you can't move that player for 3 turns, 1 the turn you got stunned during, and 2 rounds per the weapon they used. If you were to get stunned on the enemy's turn, you would see only 2 and if you got stunned at the very end of your turn you would see only 2.

    @lmfgunnut - so it's 3 turn stun on retaliate only on a charged shooter or warrior? And I guess on an overwatch attack as well?

    So, is this interpretation of what you explained how it works?
    Turn 1: bruiser stuns me on retaliate or overwatch.
    Turn 2: can't move, still stunned (stun #1)
    Turn 3: still stunned and can't move (stun #2)
    Turn 4: can move if lucky enough to still alive

    If that is what you are saying, that still seems like a 3 turn stun to me, since my survivor has been knocked out of cover for 3 turns...but I could have interpreted your explanation wrong.

    @OneLessTitan
    Say you make your first move, and it's running a guy up and attacking a bruiser. That bruiser retaliates and stuns your guy. It will show a 3 on the stun because you still have more AP's to use. At the end of your turn it will immediately decrement to 2.

    @Amiga
    Morgan's staff is about the same, if not a little stronger than concussion and would be completely broken if it had concussion. Both concussion and the Morgan effect give you the situational ability to keep three zombies stunned perpetually. Just that Morgan's you can run up and smack them, whereas with concussion one of the guys has to be stunned on overwatch. If Morgan's staff had concussion you'd be able to potentially keep 9 zombies stunned perpetually if you started with an overwatch stun that somehow managed to hit 3 walkers. That would make smash totally useless.

    Thanks guys that makes sense, I do believe I was hit with retaliate.

    But my main question. should I be going to for the gold concussion vs silver
  • LadyAquilaLadyAquila Member Posts: 625
    I find it really useful in attacking outposts with lots of walkers all grouped up together. There is no wide arc like you might typically find on a warrior weapon, but I often stun (or take out completely) 2 and sometimes 3 at a time. Really good clean up after your assault has made an attack.

    Its charge capability is just like any other bruiser.

    What level normal walkers will Morgan's staff stun? How about fatties and armored walkers? Thanks
  • theRealBendertheRealBender Member Posts: 1,251
    @DangerB Currently silver and gold give one extra turn of concussion. They are the same. So having gold concussion is a waste of a gold space.

    Thanks for the clarification @Zoson! This is the one "unique" weapon I'd really like to have since it actually is unique. And that's saying a lot since I never use Bruisers. Hopefully I will have a higher level bruiser next time this deal comes around. I'm not quite ready to buy it yet on speculation that equipment will eventually go the way that Survivors are going and be infinitely upgradeable. I would love to see that, but doubt it will happen. A boy can dream though.

    In sum, nobody buy this because I don't want to run into this weapon in Outposts! Just kidding. I'd love to see someone have 3 Bruisers set up on the first cover wall in Rural Fields, all equipped with Morgan's Staff.
