I'm definitely in with the spending freeze ng will never get another cent of me or less they change the business tactics (except $2.99 for full gas one time in the future because my goal is to get 400 stars once)
@MizTy We were told how much we would love 2.2 and to judge NG based on it's action/pudding. However, many, if not most, top players seem to really dislike the massive changes in combat dynamics which was the main part of this update for us (this is not to say that there were not good things in this update for there were). I now see pleas for more suggestions from players when earlier suggestions seem to have been listened to... and then completely ignored. While we certainly have more communication by NG, which is nice, and appreciated, and desired, some of it feels like a snow job rather than the honest dialogue which is desired. Certainly, they knew we would not like many of the changes in this update even if they publicly tout how good it is (spin, spin, spin).
NG tracks the participation in challenges in their analytics since it is such an important part of this game and results in a great deal of the expenditures (boosters and gold). It is important. Just as the spending freeze was/is important.
We can see how much NG are impacted and listening to the GC, right now, by the amount of responses in the last few pages in this thread.
From memory, NG wanted the changes coming into 2.2 to both bring in new players and encourage old players to return. That was an awesome goal because it alluded to making improvements, and a number of them were produced. However, these came with heavy handed, almost lazy nerfs to create a "rebalancing" along with the usual unfortunate bugs.
Through the guild council NG had an opportunity to take feedback from players who have invested so much in the game and stuck with it, despite previous problems that drove people away, through the year. When the loyal customers provide feedback, it's because they care. And, generally, their feedback will be well thought out.
NG may have be misinterpreted, poorly implemented, or disregarded completely the feedback. We will never know what was discussed in the team meetings.
I don't think a challenge boycott will change things. A spending freeze won't do much either. Leaving negative feedback in the stores might be more effective because it could impact growth targets. It could, however, be talked around in Ng's metric meetings. Refund requests and chargebacks are an effective but a heavy handed approach that some could say are justified.
The big question is how do NG and the guild community break through this impasse? We all want the same outcome. A long lasting and profitable, fulfilling and engaging product/ experience.
Just adding a note that we are reading every post in this thread, and I am trying to read all the feedback for all the features that I can on the forums.
My lack of responses here in the last few days has not stemmed from a lack of engagement with the thread, but an expectation of the response I will get. It doesn't help either side for us to repeat our stances when they have not changed, and I am moving on to discussions [that the GC is welcome to and has participated in] that look to future development and feature prioritization.
We very highly value the feedback from the players, whether or not they are on the GC. We understand that the GC tries to speak for all of the players in their guilds, and as such each poster here represents many players, in theory. However, it's impractical to assume that every decision we make will fit exactly in with the desires of the GC, or with any single player or developer. Building the game is a team effort, and maintaining a relationship with the players is also a team effort. Those teams have a shared broad goal, but will naturally disagree on execution or specifics from time to time. In some cases, it has been difficult for some agents to give the other members of these teams the benefit of the doubt that these goals remain aligned, and therefore it is less likely that continued discussion on the same topics will be fruitful. And so I move on to other topics.
If I expect you all to immediately approve of every idea I or we have, it would lead to a lot of confusion, and maybe some bad ideas being implemented. If the GC expects us to adopt all of the suggestions and implementation specifics they propose, it would likely have unexpected consequences to our bottom line, or our development schedules, or our approval by non-GC players.
This relationship works when it is not overly reactive, overly cynical, or overly naive. This goes for both sides - I'm counting myself in that judgement. I see many GC members here who, while in disagreement about some changes, accept that others are positive. I would like to express again that there are many improvements to the game that have already been made because of GC conversation [even if I didn't respond to the particular comments], and I plan to continue reading and collecting opinions, and replying when it seems like it would be productive to do so.
To point: I'm still here, and your positive and negative opinions are all being heard and noted. But we do retain the authority over the game to make the changes that we think improve it the most, and it's up to us to make the hard calls and accept responsibility for them. How we want to continue this dialogue is up to each of us, as individuals, and as a team.
[It seems more necessary than usual to restate that this post is Steve talking, only one of the many people who make up the NG team.]

I liken NG to Rick,.. And the gc to daryl,.. And other players to michonne
I love to hear in show when Rick says we survive by staying together,.. It's cool
But more cooler is occasionally daryl or michonne speak up and tell Rick he is wrong,. Which I love more because unlike NG Rick listens and changes his stance
null It is well within the rights of a customer of any business to buy or not buy. I saw sheteevie i think it was use the threat word. It was a classic politician move. Attach a negative word or phrase to an action. Get enough people to agree with you. Use those people to "shame" the "offenders". Offenders will then stop action. I believe it has been used too much on this forum lately. It is not a threat to decide for yourself where you spend your money. If i decide its a good product i will buy it. If i dont like your product i wont buy it. Thats not threatening. You dont automatically get my money just cause you want it. Actions speak louder than words. I have developed an opinion about ng and this game based on their actions. A tremendous amount of. Words on this forum are b.s. empty hollow words that sound good. No one is messing with ng money. As long as its in my wallet. Its MY money. I decide to spend or not. I am not. Lab rat 532789 a faceless number only existing to give my money to whatever conman wants it today. Why would you be pissed if people didnt buy your product? Obviously your product isnt up to standard. That is your fault. Not mine. Now kindly let me know the name of your business so i dont buy from there.
I find that that most comments are constructive. From the obsequious to the impertinent, they all are valid POV for each individual.
For me, this update has hits and some definite misses that out weighed the hits. All the Nerfing doesn't give me the warm fuzzies to spend my money. For now, this is still an enjoyable game for me. I'm not quite ready to throw the baby out with the bath water!
In some cases, it has been difficult for some agents to give the other members of these teams the benefit of the doubt that these goals remain aligned, and therefore it is less likely that continued discussion on the same topics will be fruitful.
@Shteevie I appreciate your willingness to share your point view. However, with all due respects, it's sometimes difficult from the player perspective to see how the goals of Next Games and its customers remain aligned.
Here are some examples. Without question, Next Games has lowered the value of sizable player investment in survivors and equipment by nerfing traits and removing interrupt at higher walker levels. It's also apparent to the players that Next Games has lowered the legendary equipment drop rate over the last few months, presumably to spur in game equipment purchases. I personally would be willing to bet that Next Games lowered the radio drop rate during the recent birthday herd event. From the player point of view, the survivor and hero token system was introduced primarily as a revenue/monetization ploy. All of these seem to be out of line with player objectives.
From the player's point of view, it looks like Next Games is now much more interested in maximizing the bottom line than continuing to develop a quality game. These are Next Games own words: " ..maximizing their Life-Time Value (LTV). See and measure the players move according to your carefully-engineered coercion plans. Take a deep dip into the vast data of player behaviour, coming up with cunning schemes of your own. Team up with finance and marketing gurus to make players’ lives even more predictable and profitable."
I do think the game designers have forgotten possibly the most important player goal. It's simple - players get more enjoyment out of this game by by killing more things (zombies, freeman, raiders, etc.) Many of the recent changes by Next Games are doing just the opposite; reducing the players' own ability to kill more things.
Players don't expect Next Games to implement all, or even many of the suggestions of the Council. We do realize that the Next Games' bottom line is important. There are many good player ideas that could contribute positively to Next Games' bottom line with little development effort. Many of us would actually be willing to spend more if they believed that the company's long term objectives and player objectives are more aligned.
Please keep in mind that players rightfully expect that Next Games will keep customer satisfaction as a primary objective. They will vote with their wallets if they believe this is not true. Can you understand that many players are now skeptical of whether Next Games really has customer satisfaction as one of their top objectives?
Thanks once again for your participation in these forums. I speak for myself also, but I do think your participation here keeps me and other players more interested in this game.
I agree that the players aren't - and in many cases, cannot - be privy to all the behind-the-scenes operational info. As I have said before, though, none of the changes have been made with the express interest of selling more to players. We believe the key to good games is to make good games - not big storefronts. Other games have failed because they sold too much or too strongly, and also because there wasn't enough to buy, or enough motivation to do so. For what it's worth, I have never changed a feature or edited a drop rate in order to make more sales. The facts that nearly every item in the game is available for free with effort, and that the most powerful items are not directly sold all the time, should point out what our philosophy on sales is.
We could push those items harder, or invent a 'Legacy' interrupt that was only on new IAP items, but neither is even remotely on our to-do list, because they don't fit our ethics. I've seen a lot of "I just got Rick from Episode 1 tokens" on the forums, and I'm not even a little sad about lost sales. Rather, I'm excited that players are unlocking the character for free, and also a little sad that I haven't gotten his Leader Trait buff in the game yet.
If you assume we're just in it for short-term cash grabs, then I guess you'll just have to see how things go and make that call. Personally, though, I'd much rather win over your couple of bucks here and there over a long period than snatch your one buck now and run.

In a more constuctive version: your changes nerfed not only just traits, it nerfed three classes out of six.
Balancing a game is hard work. It should be done carefully, with good judgment and great sensitivity. Every decision on every trait has impacts on the game. On how players experience and enjoy it. Every change could lead to an overall better or worse experience. Therefore it's a question of digits behind tthe decimal point. A question of taking a tiny pricision instrument. AND NOT LUCILLE.
And the most important thing:
You must be able to recognize, if you overshoot the mark. Listen to the players. I know it's hard work, but if we all wouldn't love the game, we just moved on to the next one. We already see people, fantastic friends, great players leave, but there are still many here willing to fight. It's a fight were we all could loose - NG and the players - or win. We are on the same side, @Shteevie. It would be great, if you just accept this as the truth.

Shteevie, with all due respect do you really expect anyone to believe that most changes implemented are not made with "the express interest of selling more to players"? I still remember when upgrade times were a 5 seconds wait, when bruisers could stun walkers of any level, shooters could shoot all the way across the map and more recently when interrupt prevented my army from spending most of their time in the hospital. All these changes make the game more and more of a grind, we know that people spend their money in these kind of games because they want to avoid the grinding and get results faster. And that's ultimately ok, NG is a business after all, but... there are some changes that affect profoundly the core game play, the strategic elements that people have relied for so long and that in my case brought me to this game so long ago. This game is feeling more and more like a button pusher like so many other "F2P" mobile games.
@jota Well, yes, I do expect them to believe me. I was there when the discussion was made, and the topic of sales didn't come up at all.
And if you aren't going to take my word for it, what good is this discussion thread? We're all here out of a sense of good will for one another, so we should act that way.
Development Team Member - The Walking Dead: No Man's Land Please note: Development is a fluid process, and suggestions and implementation take time and iteration. Any discussion of future features, deadlines, updates, balance changes, and such should be considered prospective and subject to change.
I don't want to get into the combat rebalancing, but one thing that I will say in defense of NG is that they have listened to and implemented some of our suggestions in other aspects of the game.
Personally, I really appreciate the changes to challenges in 2.2 which lowered gas costs while improving rewards. This was a huge improvement for players that are either FTP or mostly FTP. Those were direct suggestions made many many pages back in this very post (by me actually, I think?) that a lot of people agreed with at the time. @Shteevie didn't respond to it at first, and when I pressed him, he only said "Hm... interesting" or something like that. But in 2.2, we see that they clearly did listen to and act on that feedback.
Things like this give me some confidence that NG is out there listening even though they don't respond to everything. I think the forums and the feedback that we provide gives NG valuable perspective, so I'm cautiously optimistic that the buffs in the next update will help even out some of the combat rebalancing that screwed over a lot of traits.
I've already started to accept the change to Luck, but that being said, I'm hoping that low percentage traits like Swift Strike are buffed so I can use my three amazing Scouts again. Also, Interrupt. @SlickRick and @Terminates have both written very eloquent posts about Interrupt, so I'll refrain from sounding like a broken record.

In another thread that has been closed I asked about alternative strategies - that was what we were told were (some of) the reasons for the nerf. I never got an answer to that so I come to think that there aren't any besides of “shoot and hope“ which is no strategy at all.
It seems we've sort of accepted the luck nerf (though it still makes the luck trait mostly useless and I also never got an answer to the question of how my current roster with luck trait could possibly benefit of the huge nerf) but I can't for the life of me figure out why the elimination of interrupt isn't recognized as something that takes away strategic value and nerfs melee.
I know it's always forwards, never back for NG, but I wonder... If you are running towards a cliff, is it really wise to keep on going forward? Maybe you could at least sidestep?

@Shteevie, what percentage of the folks at NG actually play the game? Are you an active player? How about asking the 3 or 4 most active players that are NG employees if they think the game is better after the upgrade. I think the entire NML community would be extremely interested in hearing the results of that in house poll.
I can't imagine that any hardcore player, NG employee or not, could say the changes in 2.2 made playing the game more fun, or better. Looking forward to your feedback from inside the company. Thanks
@jota Well, yes, I do expect them to believe me. I was there when the discussion was made, and the topic of sales didn't come up at all.
And if you aren't going to take my word for it, what good is this discussion thread? We're all here out of a sense of good will for one another, so we should act that way.
it was more of a rhetorical question, I know you expect us to believe that every change is to benefit the player. But from a player's perspective it really doesn't seem that way and I hope you can understand why people are upset.
I guess at this point I'm just tired of my game being crippled in some way, every time they update it. I'm not talking about the bugs...they are preventable with proper testing...I mean the stuff I'm working on...often the gold interrupt trait was last, so I spent my time and $ upgrading through other traits to get to it...now I have no confidence in upgrading any gear when it could be nerfed.

@NCDawgFan I have been in contact with all of the hardest-core players in the company. And yes, I've been a 'free only' player for many months before I joined the team. As for opinions about recent changes, there is agreement that while there is justified concern and worry in the short term, the long term prospects for the game are better because of the changes.
Several of the company's players are max level, and play anonymously in competitive guilds. They probably get fewer stars every week [I only do about 200 myself] than many forum posters, but they are certainly acquainted with the end game content and difficulty.
I'm fortunate to have these 'moles' to ask about and to bring me feedback from their guilds. It's another valuable source of info along with the forums.

Thanks for the quick reply @Shteevie. Its nice to see your "justifed concern and worry" comment and not just some contrived corporate line reply. Could we possibly get a list of these alleged improvements that made the game better for the long run? I'm guessing dodge, luck, and interrupt won't be on there. Thanks again.
@Shteevie Damn 200 stars, get more than that with my level 13's, or is it only that many cause of the grind and how long it takes?? But Damn I don't know what hurts more that he has 'moles' in some of the competitive guilds stealing our "strategies" and "ideas" to implement changes against the players or the fact that I didn't "rate" as on of the "all of the hardest-core players" !!!
It's taken me 10 hours to type out this reply cause of how thick my bandages are from that burn!
Not only that...but I put in a teeny tiny request for some shoe choices, and what do we get? A Rick bomber jacket line!! If they go the way they did on traits, not listening to the community, they are headed for the ultimate fashion crime...matching dad and son outfits....
@Shteevie the combat rebalancing change probably wouldn't have been so bad if players dident spend a ton of money time and grinding for almost 8 to 11 months on all the gear with luck dodge interrupt we worked Damm hard to get our survivors where they are now and you took all that from us in 1 very poor update can't you see players feel ripped off why players like myself bought my first bundle in months before 2.2 I started to have hope again you was going in the right direction but hell 2.2 dropped and took all that away yes the new episode missions are good yes the outpost stuff is improving but I'm sorry those combat rebalancing was a kick in the face if I'm honest and I'm back to feeling like this game is no fun anymore this is worse imo than the rollback issue hence why I've asked Apple for refunds have a set of balls and admit the interrupt nerf was way to severe
@mods I hope I'm not being to toxic but I care and love this game so much sorry if comes across as much just the way I'm feeling
@Shteevie that may be true it may not but ask any other player that isn't paid by ng that competes hard in challenge and has an understanding of traits specifically INTERUPT if they like the new interupt and there you will find the truth. I do apologize if this isn't constructive as i just checked my inbox and I'm on the verge of getting kicked from the forum

Morbid Survivors are looking for you! If you are looking for a new guild, PM me.
It's depressing that rather than bugs getting fixed, it feels more like we are being ignored
I can't imagine that any hardcore player, NG employee or not, could say the changes in 2.2 made playing the game more fun, or better. Looking forward to your feedback from inside the company. Thanks

Ps..thank you! Most of my jewelry is sold in markets by other peeps cos I'd rather spend my time making it, than sitting in a market shop all day...I really should have a website but I'm an artist and that stuffs beyond me...I'm so bad at tech stuff Im sure I'd crash my own site!! Lol

I have been in contact with all of the hardest-core players in the company.
Please note: Development is a fluid process, and suggestions and implementation take time and iteration. Any discussion of future features, deadlines, updates, balance changes, and such should be considered prospective and subject to change.
Wait...moles you say?
