I love my assaults and use them like other people have described: they weaken a herd of high-level walkers so my hunters can take the kill shots. I like the scouts' extra move, but because interrupt is now useless at high-levels, bruisers, warriors, and - depending on the mission - shooters are now liabilities on these missions. We've only been playing with the nerfed traits for a week though, so who knows, maybe I'm missing something! I'm sure my DTP guild mates will help me figure it out if I am!

I used to hate scouts but have since found their niche. Ditto bruisers. As @EL34xyz says, an Assault team is awesome. Shooters with the extra distance are handy as are warriors with gold arc and high-powered hunters. Shame my survivors' progress is hampered by shortage of tokens so hero tokens could be shoe-horned in. Maybe there ought to be a choice of the two different token classes (hero and survivor) before you make the phone call. And if only all the best traits/trait combos hadn't been circumcised..........
“You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only option.” (Bob Marley)
Extra movement of scout combined with high damage output is still valuable to me. Scout is in my default team. |*edit (for missions, challenges and raiding.)*|
Bruiser's stun has become a little more valuable now interupt is gone. Bruiser is still weakest imo. Stun won't work on high level walkers. Bruisers become useless instantly for 99% at high levels (only use is taking hits for the team, assaults do this and put out damage).
Only time I really used bruisers (occasionally), was when I earned a lvl17 one from a mission while my regular crew was still lvl14. She helped me beat a couple of missions. Especially those with armored walkers. Fun fact, I didn't realise this meant I had to do lvl17 scavenge missions from then on. This earned me a few good legendary high lvl weapons and armor before I even got close to that lvl. At first this sucked because I couldn't use them at the time, but now I'm really happy about it. I was playing hard mode with benefits. In hindsight, this was great.
There was this nightmare/hard mission where I had to beat a lot of lvl 18/19 armored walkers to save a lvl 12 shooter. My bruiser lured them out one by one (or two by two, area stun from mission reward helped out great), while my scout with threat reduction critical hit finished them of while being stunned. Without threat of new walkers I saved the useless lvl 12 shooter to the exit. This was the only time I really felt like my bruiser had use. It was much fun. Too bad it was the only fun.
Aside from that, Bruiser still on top being worst imo.
Bruisers and scouts are outbfor me. I do not play outposts, so scout is out. Bruisers cannot stun like before, so why bother? Warriors in some high level guild missions maybe, those that are in little rooms and armored things near. Interrupt nerf killed melee, imo
I usually use team(s) consisting of two warriors & a single scout, I have replacements ready to rotate in/out as needed this setup works well for most missions.
I do keep a team of ranged attackers on hand for missions that require them, usually consisting of two hunters & a shooter or two hunters & an assault (for high volume walker missions).
My bruisers typically are delegated to pull outpost guard duty ... I really have found no better use for them.
the scout still has a function in outposts, but the bruiser without interrupt is perfectly useless, followed by the warrior. the warrior with its special double attack can cut some walkers and then run away, the bruiser is left at the mercy of the RNG.
That's their only use,.. Oh and to run that little bit further,..unless you shot at All Melee now to me are simply useful for early round bonus stars,.. Nothing more
I'm using scouts to uncover defenders.
I love their pwr in challenge against armoured and fatties. Interrupt working +3 walkers above which is enough for me to take pleasure from using scouts.
Unfortunately I never using bruisers outside Outpost.
I think it's a tie between warriors and bruisers. Still have to give the edge (trolololol) to warriors but they are slowly being enveloped in the general suck. The extra ap after special attack is cool, but the 3 kill charge is steep for when you'd need it twice in a pinch. Yep it's the death of a thousand cuts for our melee folks...
There's a saying that goes something like... if you aim to kill the king, don't miss.
That's kind of where melee is. If you run up and hit a walker, it had better die. I am mid level, and lately with uncommon gear even Glenn has been failing to one-shot even-level walkers, never mind Jesus or my legendary bruiser.
I guess I need better gear, but with the new scavenging missions I can no longer select the level I want, and my guys are too low level to use the drops.
Bruiser is the easy answer for me. I haven't used one (other than a few tests to check the stun ability) since I unlocked the Hunter class a year ago. I am looking forward to unlocking Negan so I will have one Bruiser on my roster (I could care less about increasing the chance of getting the "Use 3 Bruisers" quest)
Honestly, all other survivors are almost equally useful if you don't try to push your Star count very high, apart from a Scout on Raids. Use what you enjoy playing with, and if you use a gas booster, slightly adjust so you can get through the missions as quick as possible.
My gameplay has boiled down to this: Raids for TGs, challenge maps for about 300-ish stars, and normal scavenge missions. 1. For Raids, it's always one scout and two assaults, unless all my Assaults are injured, then I'll put a shooter in. The Scout's interrupt still works when I need it: when getting bukaki'd by tanks/armors at the beginning of the map. 2. For Scavenge Missions, same as above with a gas booster to speed through missions. Or I'll swap the scout (Glenn) for Maggie if I'm looking for extra XP when not on a booster. 2x Assaults pretty much gets you to 100 kills with proper play on certain maps, but always in the 30,000 XP range at least. 3. For Challenge Missions, it depends on the enemies. I have no desire to push myself anymore, so I still just use two assaults and some other random person, then I quit when I need to use my brain.
If you play all options (challenges, scavenging, outhouse--thanks for that @SlickRick --I'll never think "outpost" again, and storyline) you tend to find a use for all of them. Least so for bruisers in my book. Do you limit one or more of those @hhmcameron ? Just curious as our lists don't match.
All classes have their certain unique ability, but if NG suddenly decided you could only keep 5 classes of survivors, and each player had to make that "Sophie's Choice", I'm betting the bruiser class would quickly become near extinct, if not totally extinct.
You must have some sad warriors or some sad weapons @SynapseRanger. Mine are killing machines up to level 22, especially when charged. They can take out 4 or 5 walkers with no problem and are the best bet against armored walkers .
This thread is confusing me... I use to play only with scout and warriors. When playing saviours i use hunters shooters and bruisers... So even more confused by your replies...

For me crucial to make raid successful

I still use them to stun and do smash attacks when doing outpost raids
Mine stuns armored walkers, walkers and most defenders just fine
Assault, Scout and a Bruiser do a fine job when raiding for tg's only

Note... i tend to concentrate the weaknesses by doing all the same...
When you find a congaline of walkers, you need to kill them as far away from you as possible
And stand off kills minimize damage
When playing saviours i use hunters shooters and bruisers... So even more confused by your replies...
