    I have learned to cope with this by spreading peace where I can. Only ever had a couple weeks of trying to injure attackers when I couldn't play to keep my influence up. I find enough harsh receptions on the road to keep hospitality at home. But I'm a specialist. Everyone should play how they play. It is certainly my wish for free TG and peace and I play that way. Just this morning I tried not to kill @javajnkie 's poor survivors but one had Morgan's staff and clearly felt that not all life was sacred. Do I resent? Nope, just invite her to visit and see a better way; the way of fellowship, flowing tradegoods, and empty hospitals.

    Stop killing my defenders and making me drop to Gold Tier II and I'll consider it.

    Unlikely. Lots of people want to level up tiers so I'm going to give my crew the best chance they can to survive so I won't drop a tier. If you want to just steal the goods, my guys probably can't stop you. That's not enough for some folks.

    At any rate...as mentioned above, these tactics are contrary to the intent and basically amount to gaming the game. I've done it myself, but it's boring as all get out. And this game isn't exactly a thrill ride to begin with. I expect there will be a tweak coming up that will prevent this.

    I agree with Gebobs, I am on Gold Tier 2 and people kill the defenders even when placed far away.

    Ok, so we're all agreed some people will kill defenders. This thread is by and for people who _won't_ if you give them a chance. They're taking the time to tell you so. So...

    @Gebobs

    I'm not a smart aleck to tell anybody how this game and especially the outpost is working. But....

    If an attacker is only into grabbing the crate for tg, he/she will only kill your defender if they're placed directly in front of the crate or in the way to it.
    If the attacker wants to increase his/her influence he/she will try to kill all your defenders no matter where they' are placed. If they're spread far away it is much harder for the attacker.
    The defender will only loose influence if the attacker fulfills all three task (flag, crate and kill all defender).
    So I propose to place your defender not in front of the crate or in the way to it, to avoid that an attacker who only looks for tg will not kill them. Others gonna try it anyway. ;)

    @GrimGael My thinking was to spread out my defenders so you can take my TG and run on your first turn in the gate, but if you decide to stick around, my scout can hit you on his first turn without moving. I joined the fellowship, but apparently, the forces of evil have influenced my defenders.

    Seriously though, thanks for the heads up. I'll reconfigure them, as my plan is obviously not working as I intended.

    Just to mention, I recall the premier defenders and that they were in the way about a month ago. I don't recall if I wiped them way back when or not. What I do know is that I left with tg. Sorry if I did, but tg blockers are the only influence I get.

    I have a simple rule that I follow when I raid. First, I always take an assault and make sure that he is fully charged before opening the gate. I also take a scout so that I can grab the trade goods if can be reached on the turn when the gate is opened. I only attack the defenders in three instances:

    1) They block the trade goods so that I can't get them in the same turn that I open the gate.
    2) They have all 3 defenders together so that my charged assault can stun all of them with a charged shot.
    3) They have not upgraded their walker pit so that I was not able to fully charge my attackers prior to opening the gate.

    Number 3 is more an attack out of spite but also depends on the level of the defender. If they are all level 20 golds and even some pink, then I happily take the draw since there is almost no way I can win a fight with my level 19's without being charged. Number 2 is also done out of contempt since if you are foolish enough to place all 3 defenders in a precarious position I will take advantage. This also depends on level since if I am fighting level 20 gold or pink stars and I don't stun all 3 with the assault I'll take the trade goods or the draw whichever leaves me with the least damage.

    I'm currently in gold tier 3 and would like to move up to 1, so I have to kill defenders. But I took the advice in here and placed my defenders away from the box so people who just want some TG can easily grab them. Thanks!

    @javajnkie sometimes I make mistakes on that particular setup. I may use a different route and have caused needless bloodshed. Was thinking about that after posting. @OneLessTitan is my guru. He'd be able to tell you.

    @GrimGael in my log, it says you walked away with influence, but no TG. I'm just curious, is that what your log shows?

    Sorry, I checked and it fell off the bottom. What I do remember is I walked away uninjured. That may have been the case if I were killing the spawn walkers for xp and got surprised by needing to fight. But that's virtually impossible with that setup. Stranger things have happened but I think I left with tg too.
    Oooh wait, I took some screenshots because I was excited to see you, but didn't use them because I was sad about the outcome...

    So when you go and attack, you kill all the defenders, but you have set up your outpost in a way that people just take the TG?

    @blynknz ,
    Yes, I did. ;)
    When I know I will be blocked, I open the gate with my scout and stun the defender with my two assaults. If I still see a chance to leave, than without killin', I'll do so.
    A draw by fleeing is not an option for me.

    I put the loot crate out front for a few weeks and apparently that wasn't good enough for most. So now I set the map so you'll have to kill your way to the loot. I'm not trying to gain influence. I'm just hoping to get a draw or at worst a 0 loss. Will see how it goes. If you wipe out my outpost feel free to post here and let me know where I went wrong in my blocking strategy :-)

    I have no special walkers
    I have the map with the loot 2 squares inside the door - nothing blocking it
    I have level 10 - 16 survivors
    I have my survivors off to the side.

    I still lose influence.

    So, along the lines of defending/not defending the TGs by positioning defenders, what about those maps where the TGs are out of reach of a scout making a one-move dash from the gate? Like map 2/4 of the field location? Attack or draw?

    That map you show (double doors) is reachable in one move by the scout, that same map with 1 large door in the middle lower part is not.
