Why we are searching for specific trait combinations, if every weapon of the same level and range has the same value in damage?

Since damage is the same in every combination they should all work equal...

What I´m missing here?

    Raised chance of critical with accurate, raised base damage with lethal, wide spread, luck, piercing. All of those have different effects on the weapons that fit different situations and strategies. Base damage is a part of what the weapon does.
    In a way, all of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us.

    Thx @Guapo ...I was wondering how there is a difference if you have, let´s say a pistol with long range and extra loading point and critical (two traits are just characteristics) vs a pistol with destructive, deadly and piercing.

    There are in fact some traits that don´t add on the damage, like silence, threat reduction etc...

    Peicing reduces bodyshots.
    Critical chance increase and also reduces body shots (if you roll a crit but then roll a body shot you get a regular shot)

    In fact this was a serious question.

    So...base damage is base damage and the different traits don´t add up to the damage?

    Now as I´m a (nearly) maxed out player I´m starting to learn the finetuning ;)

    Is there a list of traits which will add damage, or am I just too blind to see it at the Wordpress site?

    It´s a bit of a hassle to swop weapons just to find out, which combination has the highest impact :neutral:

    I have to defend the 5th place in my guild on the next challenge :)

    Finally it turns out my question wasn´t that phreaky at all...

    The only game I was addicted to before playing NML was Portal B)

    Let's suppose you have a 7 star survivor with lvl 6 Sure Shot (43% crit chance) with a weapon that has Gold Accurate (15% crit chance) and Gold Destructive (60% additional Crit damage)

    Legendary Daryl in the leader spot whom has lvl 4 Silent Shot (8% crit chance)

    43+15+8= 66% chance of crit. Add in 20% luck (lvl 6 on that 7 star survivor you're adding another 13.2% crit chance making it a total chance of 79.2% chance of critting.

    Although it's said on the forums and it's discovered in the game; I have not found anywhere in the actual game itself that it says as enemy levels increase the chance of critting goes down (meaning you're more likely to get a body shot which wouldn't allow a crit to take place).

    If someone see's it in the help section of the game that the math I explained above, having a 79.2% of critting won't happen because i'm facing lvl 26 walkers with lvl 21 survivors please let me know.

    @Invader I still have some multiplayer achievements left on Portal 1 for xbox 360 that I haven't achieved because nobody plays anymore. Maybe we can get a session in one day :)

    @Invader No worries... It was portal 2 I need the multiplayer achievements in..

    445 unearned gamerscore because nobody plays a 5+ year old game anymore :disappointed:
