Hate the new challenge ending time

We used to be able to rally a final push if needed for the next guild reward, but now the ending time is awkward for most guild members. I know that's arbitrary based on where most of a guild's members are located, but I was wondering if it were possible noon UTC is not a great ending time for most players? For most of our guild members, the final 3-5 hours used to include a period they'd be available to play if we only needed, say, 300 stars to get to the next guild reward.

@Amiga , yeah, I know -- I'm sure there are folks who prefer the new start time because it gives them more playing time at the starting end of challenge. I just wondered if more people preferred one over the other, because it seems like an arbitrary thing. If most people would prefer the new start/end times, I'm fine with it. But I was wondering if more people disliked the new times than liked it.

It's hard to say because this community is only a part of the all players.

@Amiga , sure, but NG must know where most of their players are, and they most assuredly know when their servers are being accessed. If the majority are in time zones where the new challenge ending time is very early morning or midafternoon, for instance, then it's probably likely many players aren't able to play during those hours. If the final few hours of challenge used to be high-play times and now they are lower-play times, it would tell us that there are likely players out there who are missing being able to put in a few more hours after work or upon rising.

I personally like the new starting time.. but much preferred the later ending time.. many times my hospital is full from Sunday night and later end time allowed me a fresh start in the morning to usually pass a new tier! 8 AM ending for me is just inconvenient especially with summer here.. I don't wake up nearly as early!

But like @Amiga said.. you can't please everyone!

If I understand correctly, the change was made because a few people didn't like that the survivor trait boost changed for the last few hours. I think this was short sited. While some weeks switching from one to another would make it challenging to pick up a few extra stars that last morning, most times the switch actually provides you a chance to get a few more. At least for me, I am pretty tapped out by Sunday evening. But liked that odd week when a switch in survivor trait boost would allow me to eek out a few more. Please change it back to the previous start/stop time

I actually prefer the new times:
    - Like being able to start the challenge earlier on Thursday. Gives a few more hours to get farther into things before the weekend which is often busier and harder to play uninterrupted.
    - Like that the challenge end time is synced with the survivor trait end time. Yes, there are other ways to resolve this as well, but for now this fix works.

Challenge time hasn't been shortened. I was definitely one who used Monday morning to try to push to a reward level, but this just means we need to manage time differently.

Perhaps the change was simply made because players were not playing as intended at the intended times, blatantly flaunting this whole ways to play and player choice thing that ng has repeatedly told us they are attempting to bolster in our gaming experience...

Sarcasm aside, the hourly changeup to times that even more clearly align to edt workaday office hours or school times only serves to further limit participation from those students or workers in the edt regions. Before the obvious world is a big place with many timezones and cant please everyone logic comes up again, let me just say its not something im overly concerned about considering the overwhelming number of more important concerns with this game especially since the last update.

Challenge timing wise, the only constructive input i truly have is to extend the timings to the monday and Tuesdays to allow players the opportunity to play when it is convenient for them to play rather than have to forego spending precious weekend time with their families, loved ones or simply their beds on weekends rather than worrying about gas wastage and lower star counts and letting down their guilds.

btw that whole letting down the guild mentality as the only thing keeping vets playing? Yeah thats a thing. Pay attention ng...

It's a helpful change for me personally. Challenge used to start and end at 11 pm. When a challenge starts I have saved gas and/or like to buy gas with saved gold to clear easy levels quickly. Starting at 11 pm means I'm up late when I do that. So starting earlier is much more convenient for me.

The change was better for me. I have much more time to play the challenge. Please don't change it again.

That was a pretty good post especially the humor at the beginning and an inescapable truth that NG hasn't connected the dots on. When the number one reason for customer retention is that they don't want to let their guild down and not because they enjoy the game then you have serious long and short term issues. The viability of the company and job security are real issues too.

The change was made so that the schedule, essentially, would make more sense. The class buff of the week is tied to that week's featured mission, so once the new S7/Highlights mission would start, the class buff would end, leaving players' to come up with new strategies for the last 3 hours of the challenge. That's something that we got quite a bit of feedback on, and decided to act upon it.

yeah im in PST and the challenge ends for us at 5:00am now, before it ended at 8:00am. I liked the 8:00am end time not only because it gave us a little bit of extra time to earn some more stars, but sometimes the new featured class for the week could make a big difference in helping us get those last few stars. everything refreshed at 5:00am PST so we'd get 3 hours with the new featured class and also get the new trials to complete.

There are no "good" starting time for events for a global game that doesn't have regional servers. Even then, you have people working different shifts, different days of the week, etc based on RL. To many factors involved. Haven't seen a game yet that solves it especially if you also factor in time adjustments like Daylight Saving Time that affect local times but not UTC and events should start when staff is in the office and that is dependent on where the game company is.

However, since the issue was the complaints about when the class buff ended and not the starting time of the challenge; the logical and correct fix would have been to adjust the class buff/season mission starts to sync with the end of the challenge and not adjust the challenge to meet the class buff times.

Just remember this is NG we are talking about with the same brain trust who also thought it was a brilliant idea to increase hospital healing times just to lower it again. I'm sure their analytical genius thinks adjusting the times of the challenge will somehow spur 24 hour gas sales and that is why the illogical solution was chosen.

I love the new schedule change!

I'm from PST and I usually try to make a final push towards the final hours of the early morning for me.

It ending at 8 am was too much to stay up for. Now at 5 am for me is doable ^_^

Also the benefits of switching at the same time as the (survivor buffs changes / events ending / new missions ) makes it all synchronize together better without confusion

I would have preferred moving the Highlight missions to Tuesday. Monday was still a bit of challenge play and then some rest is very welcome.

Tuesday, on the other hand, is really quite boring with nothing going on (and TG Tuesday doesn't really count).

I definitely preferred the old times. I work a rotating bi weekly schedule. So mon/tues/fri/sat/sun nights. Then the next week I work tues/wed. Since I leave the house at 4 pm and get home around 8 am the ending time on Monday was great for my long week. It would allow me to push a bit further when I got home Monday morning since I have little time to play during my long work week. My short week it doesn't matter to me either way though.

I know my circumstances are much different from most people though but I figured I'd chime in anyway.

As an Australian I like the new start time as I don't have to wait until 1am to start the challenge or wake up in the morning and be really far behind the rest of my guild

I absolutely hate the new start time I'm on west coast time I used to be able to play at the start and keep up with my guild mates. Now by the time i get up im a few hundred stars behind. And the main reason is when our night players are making a push for the last phones or tgs I miss out on the rewards in the morning
  • AvengersAvengers Member Posts: 674
No you should get the guild rewards regardless. I think they show up even after challenge ends...but not 100% sure
