Revenge Trait behaviour you should know before using it

JackBauerJackBauer Member Posts: 1,550
Scenario A:
- Ally not in Overwatch with Retaliate is attacked by 2 walkers in the next turn. Revenge Survivor is not in Overwatch.
- First Walker hit: Ally will Retaliate the first walker and defeat him, no Revenge shot is triggered
- Second Walker hit: Ally will get the hit and also no Revenge shot is triggered.

Scenario B:
- Ally not in Overwatch with Retaliate is attacked by 2 walkers in the next turn. Revenge Survivor is in Overwatch. No other walker walking around in Range that could be hit by overwatch.
- First Walker hit: Ally will Retaliate the first walker and defeat him, no Revenge shot is triggered
- Second Walker hit: Ally will get the hit and also no Revenge shot is triggered.

So as you can see it looks like the Revenge can only trigger on the first hit if the walker is still "alive". :D

Scenario C:
- Ally not in Overwatch with Retaliate is attacked by 2 walkers in the next turn. Revenge Survivor is in Overwatch. No other walker walking around in Range that could be hit by overwatch.
- First Walker hit: Ally will Retaliate the first walker and NOT defeat him. Revenge shot IS triggered
- Second Walker hit: Ally will get the hit and Revenge shot is not triggered.

Scenario D:
- Ally not in Overwatch is attacked by a walker standing next to him. Revenge Survivor is in Overwatch. Other walker walking around in Overwatch Range.
- Revenge is triggered after that overwatch triggers a shot to some walker somewhere else.

Scenario E:
- Ally in Overwatch is attacked by walkers which where NOT standing next to him. Revenge Survivors are not in overwatch. -> Revenge shot is NOT triggered. (See Video below from @KaLi Hit 1,2,3)

Scenario F:
- Ally in Overwatch is attacked by walkers standing next to him. Revenge Survivors are not in overwatch. -> Revenge shot IS triggered. (See Video below from @KaLi 4th Hit)

Scenario G:
- Opponent Freemen/Raider/Saviour is attacked by a walker. Revenge shot IS triggered (See post below from @unum )

Scenario H:
- feeemen bruiser is hitting stunned walker
- My revenge shooter (not in ovewatch) hits the bruiser !

Scenario I:
- as we learned so far is overwatch not triggering a revenge action. But if your playing outpost and your survivor is bleeding and you use overwatch to heal him then an attack will generate a revenge action.

I guess it's working as intended but should be good to know for people.

    @JackBauer I don't have a survivor with Revenge trait.
    But I mean to read from a guildmate revenge is only triggered, if an ally is attacked from a range attack.

    Agree. If Walker attack ally with retaliate revenge isn't triggered. Just checked.
    It is working only on 1st attack without retaliate like @JackBauer wrote

    It works for any type of attack and it works great unless someone has retaliate. Seems like another bug...

    Has someone more than one survivor with revenge?
    Can more survivors with revenge, revenge at the same attack?

    Revenge says that your survivor will attack the enemy of it attacks your ally within LoS

    After doing some testing... Revenge seems to only trigger when both survivors exhausted their moves and your ally gets attacked with the walker still alive (Retaliate killing the walker in your situation above is why it didn't trigger. If your Retaliate didn't kill then revenge would trigger)

    it seems that if either your survivors go on overwatch, your revenge would not trigger

    So for instance if my assault goes on overwatch to try to tank the hit and gets hit, then revenge won't trigger on my ally that has the trait.

    If my survivor with revenge goes on overwatch and my ally gets hit. Revenge doesn't activate.

    Could this be working as intended ?

    What do you think @JackBauer

    Sorry it's German, but the trait description says, if an ally is attacked by range?

    @Teeceezy can you clarify please?
    What is the expected behavior?

    @Teeceezy are you able to comment on kali's overwatch issue/question is that working as intended?

    @David_H79 At the beginning I saw Revenge not triggering often and always thought there must be a secret "Range" definition which I wanted to blame it to. So I know about Range, and during my testing I made sure that the Revenge Survivor was standing directly behind the attacked Ally. The Revenge Survivor was also not in Overwatch.

    @KaLi Overwatch behavior will be the next what I will look at when I have time and willingness to invest healing time and/or gold.

    I have only tested revenge twice so far. Both times on scavenge missions so only against walkers and yes, works when attacked by melee.

    I didn't test it in every possible situation, but I did try to see if it would work whether or not the survivor with the trait had used both their AP or only 1 (overwatch) and if I remember correctly, it triggered both times. Was not paying attention to retaliate traits or overwatch status on the target of the walker attack though. Interesting..

    Edit: I was wrong. Further testing showed that when revenge survivor had used an overwatch attack, they couldn't do another revenge attack

    I should add, when I tried using up my revenge survivor's AP, I did so by moving twice, NOT by by shooting, so lots more testing required.

    Checked. If ally with revenge went to OW mode revenge isn't triggered.

    So
    - retaliate
    - overwatch
    Ignore Revenge trait. Question is is it all intended? Or just mechanic flaws and need to be adjusted.

    They seriously need to update the ingame info for such problematic traits. There are like 100 scenarios that we need to test out for them and we wont even know if its working as intended or not.

    @gespuer is it really a matter of time ? ;)

    Obviously it's not!
    Seems to me (and I only speak for myself) it's a matter of silliness.

    @JackBauer I mean if your ally with revenge trait shoot in OW then Walker hit another ally then revenge isn't triggered. Just checked again ;)

    I did some more testing and it seems that its all random. Revenge either work while on overwatch and grant you a second attack or it wont work at all for some weird reason.

    Test1:
    turn ends > assault overwatch attack > hunter overwatch attack > zombie attacks my assault > hunter revenge attack (i think that hunters overwatch attack was targeting different zombie then revenge attack and thats why it triggered. need more testing)

    Test2:
    turn ends > assault overwatch attack > hunter overwatch attack > zombie attacks my assault > no revenge attack from the hunter

    The way it works is totally retarded in my opinion and its even worse in combination with retaliate.

    @Amiga Again, the Revenge Survivor was in Overwatch. I made sure that no "new" walkers will show up next turn. The Ally was attacked (this time I used one without retaliate), the ally was damaged and instantly the Revenge Survivor "revenged".

    Ok, this means we need another scenario: Ally is attacked and does not retaliate, revenge survivor is in overwatch and shots at some random walker and see if revenge is then still triggered. This could be interesting, do walker in attacking range attack first or do the other walk around first :-)

    @JackBauer

    I think we get a double shot only if the overwatch and revenge shot targets different targets
  • AmigaAmiga Member Posts: 3,770
    @zerosouL
    Probably because doesn't work with the same target
