I like the Ultimate Challenge & would like it to be permanent
I’m holding my vote for a bit, but I do want to give my feedback.
I guess i’m a mid level player. I am at camp level 45 with survivors level 18 down. I hate the grind. Loathe it. However, I need xp for my survivors and my gear, and I need supplies for upgrading. The guild stars don’t matter much because I am the top producer in my guild with 500-600 stars and the biggest majority of the rest earning 100 stars or less.
Although the Ultimate Challenge is a complete joy to play, I can’t afford to lose trading goods to buy tokens and gear, lose xp when my survivors need to be leveled up, or miss the extra supplies when all my buildings need upgraded.
For those of you who are at max level everything, I know the change is, well, the Ultimate of changes! For me, I am still needy.
My vote is torn. I need to keep the grind, in which I find no joy, so I can get the things I need. I would prefer to change to the Ultimate challenge, which I am loving, with the condition of either adjusting the rewards given or scale back on the amount needed to continue moving forward in the game.

I absolutely agree with @CrazyD on the extra “special” spawns! As if level 30 wasn’t bad enough there are extras on 30.2-30.3 and extra “extras” on 30.4... a bit of overkill I think.. especially on many of the other challenges we have!

Isn't the solution to your issue be to play outposts once you've wrapped up the challenge for the week? Earn all the TGs and XP you want by running outpost missions.

For all those who are concerned about less supplies, TG, xp, etc. from the new challenge, you have to realize that less grind = less gas spent = more gas for you to use in other game modes to make up those lost resources in higher amounts than you would have just from the challenge. This new challenge system is better for everyone when you actually think through it and crunch the numbers.

As someone who has "crunched the numbers" this is completely true!!
Players are only losing (and I say only lightly) 8-12K TG's (in my situation I'm losing 9K TG's) but I am saving 330 gas over the course of the week. I'm saving 9 rounds of challenge time. 9 rounds x 5 gas each map x 6 maps = 270 Gas
270 Gas can play -
All of the distance on Tuesday (4 gas each map x 21 maps = 84 gas) ---- Total of 84 of 270 gas saved All of the distance on Saturday (4 gas each map x 21 maps = 84 gas) ---- Total of 168 of 270 gas saved 30 Outpost maps (2 gas each; 400 average TG's with an 80% success ratio = 9,600 TG's = 60 gas) ---- Total of 228 of 270 gas saved 7 Scavenger maps (6 gas each x 7 maps = 42 gas) ---- Total of 270 of 270 gas saved
I can do all these things and still earn what I did before.

"I will have fewer stars." - So will everybody else. (Actual number of stars does not mean anything.)
"But I want that number being big." - Imagine that you have bigger **** than Termi.
"I will have fewer TGs because of fewer rounds played." - Play Outposts (grab TG and complete) (they are 8+ times more efficient gas&time-wise.)
"I need more supplies." - Play Scavenge missions.
"I want more grind." - Play ANY other game mode or even this one - just repeat same difficulty levels. (You can actually even choose what level you wanna grind).
"I will have less rewards" - No, you will actually get same or more. They are adjusted now.
So... you will have spare gas and time to do whatever you want. Enjoy.
Maybe some adjustments are possible .................... triple rounds from 27 to 29 or something like that.
- With that I agree. That was my initial thought for an adjustment. RSL+4+6 might be difficult for some people, on some maps, with some playstyles, considering some lame bonuses. (like +50% bruiser's dmg - are you serious? make at least +50% dmg REDUCTION for bruisers! Am I right, ladies and gentlemen?)

I got no problems with any of it. No such thing as missing stars. That's an illusion of the scoring system. Missing post-mission crates? Replay a high level round and don't advance. Missing 8k trade goods? Go play 16 outposts. Dont play outposts? Why? Its free stuff and very easy if you dont try to kill the defenders.
So far I see no detriment to this system.More time to do anything else but ignore my family. Lol.....Now I can play The Distance on Saturday without worrying about catching up on those stars.
Keep this system. Mostly Im looking forward to attempting to advance to higher levels without spending money or wasting my Sunday......
@Bill_ZRT, I’ve never played Outpost. For some reason it is extremely intimidating to me.
Outpost is easy peasy... and there are good videos and guides out there that will help you get started. There's no real disadvantage to playing outposts since you don't actually lose TGs or anything else... you just lose 'influence', which is you 'outpost' rating that doesn't do anything but determine your tier and 'reward' when the outpost cycle ends. It's been a while since I've played outposts because I just don't have the time (that might change with this new game mode!) so I can tell you you don't have to actively pay attention to anything on defense... in fact I have crappy survivors there and a clear path to my TG box so other players can raid me and profit. Don't be intimidated by outposts... you've got nothing to lose by trying it.

Outpost are a real easy way to get TG's And you can get influence which will give you a big wad of TG's after the cycle is over Plus, the gas cost is dirt cheap Plus it's not as boring as other game modes because each outpost is a little bit different from the others
With all the extra gas and extra time, you guys that like playing 7 days a week can do other game modes.
The people like me who don't want to spend that much time on the game get to have it their way also So everybody wins

@SmokeandMirrors make sure to take a scout for the extra movement distance. After taking out the initial walkers, position all of your team next to the gate and end turn. On your next turn, open the gate with one of the other team members so your scout has full ap. Have the scout run over and grab the crate and then hit the complete button. No need to fight defenders at all. If you run into a player that is blocking the crate, you can flee to avoid a fight and hospital time.

I take out the defenders always now because everyone does the same thing to me
Even though I put the crate right in front of the gate, I put my 3 lamest heroes all the way to the back I set them on stationary and give them all level 1 through 5 gear So now, I take the influence unless it looks like it is going to get ugly

I like the new format, but without the double guild rewards it really just moves the grind to another game mode if a player wants to earn the same amount of TG etc.

I'm very pleased with this structure and am sad to be going back to the grind next week. The less stars doesn't mean a thing. Everything is proportional and the goal is to get to the rsl you normally get to and still have time/energy to try different strategies/survivor combinations to push your team as far as they can go. Or you can repeat missions at the level you are happiest at for the rewards you desire and have time/energy to play other game modes. The extra time is refreshing instead of mindless grind, this alone makes it a huuuuuuge positive.

@DLich just to clarify, i wasn't stating that any player is getting 'fewer' challenge crates/token crates, etc, I realize that those rewards are coming at a lower stat requirment to offset to lower star counts earned, thats basically all a wash. What i was saying is that the Ultimate Challenge came with increased token values, and a higher chance of epic and legendary equip in the reward crates. So far, there is no concrete evidence to suggest those will absolutely stay on as a permanent change, if the rounds format does indeed change.
And running in tandem with a double guilds rewards event, alot of people may mistakenly think that NG nerfed the reward levels next week when we see what the new 'normal' is going to be.
I agree with all your other conclusions. I too think this entire format is better in all aspects over the previous version.

This new challenge format is 100% better than the normal format. I cannot stress enough how much better I think it is for high level players, and I suspect reducing the grind will have a positive impact for the FTP guys too and will allow them to be more competitive. I actually feel like I have the time now to strategise and try new tactics to squeeze every last star, which is surely what the game is all about (it is a strategy game right??!).

@Muzz Excellent point there. I've been thinking the same thing.
Rather than just finishing a round and missing a couple stars we have time be more strategical to complete rounds with full stars. Therefore using more survivors/classes than usual.
This definitely makes the game better and more to what should be intended. I'm sure everyone like myself has multiple survivors that consistently sit on the shelf, now I'll use more survivors, understand hero and survivor traits better.
Still holding off on my vote but the futher into the challenge I get and the comments I read, I'm more than ever liking this system and hope it stays.
That being said, I still believe there's room for improvement and there are many comments here to support that.

If you are looking for supplies, XP, TG, etc., there are game modes for every resource.
The challenge like the name implies should be the game mode which is challenging. This should be the place where you can test your skills, survivors, gear, etc.
After the last update everyone swith at least level 20 survivors starts at RSL 14, triple rounds at RSL 19. Additional you could train your survivors to level 23 and over time earn better badges. Every single aspect let you go further and further into the challenge.
The result for people who didn't use gas booster is, that they don't reach the challenging part of the challenge anymore. Or with gas booster or gas boost with gold you have played every mission 45 or even more times, that you don't want to play the missions anymore.
While people who complaining about missing supplies, XP, TG, etc. can switch to the corresponding game mode to earn them, people who wants a challenge can't switch to another game mode.
That said, I really would love to this change stay permanent.

I have not voted yet but so far I love the changes.
Might it be a solution for the people who want to grind the low levels to let players select if they want to use their round passes or discard them? Not that I get why you would want to play the lower levels with lower rewards instead of repeating higher level missions but to each their own.
Guess the loss of personal TG rewards is a trade-off for the reduced grind and I'll gladly take it.
I find myself replaying rounds that I would have accepted to be just 2 stars in order to be able to move on, trying another tactic. So totally agree on that point.

The new system it's great for people tired of playing. But the new system don't take care about players like to play , players on low level and new players. NG have to lose a lots of money in this new system.
If it's like the distance so you can choose between normal and hard I will go back to normal again.
The most of us play for enjoy and kill some free time. So complain about use time on a game hmm. With the new system I probably not use smaller time but have to play more of the boring part push push push. I save money in this new system so that's maybe good.
Scavenge it's for me dead as well, since the rewards have drop dramatically. And when not pay for free gas longer the gas price to high. And the distance I only play for rewards and I not see the fun in distance. This other game with 14 level I don't remember name of I finish all level including the hard level.
So for me it's the challenge I think it's the fun part .
So what's left NG it's this the start of the end ?

It's great to see the community talking and discussing in such a constructive way. Something we need to see more on the forum.
