New update leading to people quitting

Let me start by saying a new update should lead to renewed interest in a game. Unfortunately this new update has had the opposite effect.

Most players (particularly if they have a powergaming bent) have goals in mind they are looking forward to achieving when they play a game. Two of the most common goals for this game relate to placement on the individual leaderboard and trying to beat difficult story missions on hard and nightmare for a well deserved and worthwhile reward (survivors over the level cap). This update took away both of these.

The individual leaderboard has become even more meaningless with the widespread exploitation of the stars bug (though sanctioned by the developers). Although there were other exploits some were using to increase their star totals it was increasing it 3 at a time, not 50 at a time. I know it would be difficult to change course on this issue as many players would be upset because they spent money for gas to effectively exploit this bug and could rightfully expect their money back, but it would be better for the long term health of the game.

The removal of the only worthwhile rewards from the most difficult story missions also helps remove anything to play these missions for (I know I was looking forward to trying some of these once my survivors were upgraded).

I know multiple of the best players in the game are leaving now because of it. These are the types of players who both spend money and help increase others interest in the game. I don't expect any reversal of course, but I wish the developers would reconsider the impact of these issues.

all games have bugs, NG actually adresses them sometimes. They do a lot. they're working on PVP. I've seen much MUCH worst dev teams on a lot of much bigger games. I don't think people who are right up there like you say will be leaving that soon because of a couple of little issues

I'm sure NG has statistics on this, and I imagine more ppl are signing up to play than quitting...

Plus for every active player there are players like me who are casual. NML is the first and only RPG game I've ever played. I started with it in mid November and I am a level 26. I have no survivors above 11. My council is 11. My stars total is 410. I am the top guy in my guild. I am also the only player in my guild. It has been said, but probably not enough that this forum does not reflect the average NML player. I've probably spent around $30. I'd guess I would be more advanced in the game than the average player.

Am sorry but u take the risk, if u spend money on gas refills to exploit the game and take fun away u shouldnt expect a refund!!!! If it was my way and i was a dev or mod i would ban the player who exploited the game as this damaged the community.
    Cheating=banned not refunds.

Smoking joe blows I guess you have statistics on how many people were playing before the update and after the update. It only makes sense that you have these numbers or because only a fool would make such claims without having the numbers.

Your post comes from a position as though you were elected official spokesperson for NML players across the world. I didn't vote for you but I take exception to the use of the phrase sanctioned by the developers. Letting people use the bug for another few days before they fix it isn't that big of a deal and maybe it's because the deva can see the big picture. Like they said, in 14 days it won't matter. It's kind of like getting angry at the girl cutting your hair because you told her to cut 2 inches of hair off and she cut 2 & 1/2 inches. In two weeks it's not gonna matter.

The Internet is a wonderful thing but unfortunately it makes everyone a so called expert and critic too. Too many people want to tell Next Games how to do things and I bet these same people have much bigger issues in their life they should be worried about than concentrating on game changes that benefit themselves the most as well as the day to day operations of a 30 employee gaming company.

I saw that Next Games is hiring for 3 positions. This isn't directed at blow joe here or anyone specific but all these people with their golden ideas should be putting in their resumes to Next Games.

This game has been downloaded couple million times and 99% of them doesn't use this forum and aren't aware of these bugs or this forum. They waited update to come google play as they did for other games and played Candy Crush, drank beer, watched CSI or did something else. Many of them doesn't give a shit guild stars and neither do I. Since November I have been part in some guild and since December I have earned 160+ stars per week and most weeks also 1344+ stars. This week in new guild I got 210+ and 2592+ stars and I haven't ever got usable item. Currently my survivors are lvl 14 and lvl 13 and and best gear I have got are legend items lvl 10 and lvl 11, which are lower than I use. Usually I get XP and Gold on those final rewards.

So many people won't quit and won't give a dam about stars.

I'm about to say something and it will probably piss people off. But when posting on here, please make sure what you write is understandable. Like with Murphys post, I feel like I need a translator to understand what he said. So that's all I had to say about that. As for people quitting, if you don't wanna play just because you can't abuse a glitch in the game, you shouldn't be playing in the first place. It's not fun if you can cheat like that. These games are supposed to be a challenge and fun because of that. As for people who have an advantage due to the fact that they spend money, it's how companies like this one can afford to make a game this good and let people play for free. So remember that next time you wanna b***h and moan. Also, this is just my opinion and if you don't like it, that's fine, because that's your opinion.

I complaining a lot especially on payments options and gold cost and gas stuff but in overall NG doing great job!! Especially events every weekends sounds great. Outpost beta, often updates, new episodes ect. I remember Diablo 3 when was released and now - completely different game after 3 years. I'm sure this game after few months will be huge :)

I'm somewhat surprised by the responses overall, but I will respond to this one at least. I never said the update was leading more people to quit than join, only that it was leading certain people to quit because it removed the goals they had of playing. I know of three high level players who are quitting over this. I am not one of them, I am just hoping shed a light on the issue.

Secondly, the developers basically did sanction the use of the bug when they made a post about how to use it and did nothing to try and stop it until the next update.

Thirdly, I never referenced the guild leaderboad. That will be sorted out in 14 days and I don't care about it. The individual leaderboard is the one that is ruined. This matters to many players who were seeking to be on the leaderboard or improve their position on it. Once again this is not my issue personally as I have very limited goals regarding this. It was upsetting to me to see guild members quit over it though.

The statement about having the opposite effect on interest still looks like to me that you are trying to make an opinion seem like a fact. No update is going to make everyone happy no matter the platform so to see how effective the update was in user satisfaction you would still need stats and numbers.

Individual leaderboard guild leaderboard whatever man but you are missing the point. Does it really matter that much? Are people that thin skinned that they will quit over an update? If they are then maybe they have issues beyond the update.

I appreciate you also being the spokesperson for your guild informing the world that some of your players quit over it and why. I was holding my breath for that press release.

The only people who should be really upset and thee isn't going goin to be many but if they wee on the leaderboard and then got bumped because of this so I'm waiting for one of these to step up to the podium and see how upset he or she is.

Again, I feel that you are over exaggerating or trying to make next games look worse than they should over a mistake. A mistake was made and I'm sure next games just threw a dart at a list of possible solutions and went with it. Or maybe they looked at the problem and after several solutions were vetted they decided "this was the best solution available or the best way to make things fair to everyone or to level the playing field." No need for the overdramatization with they sanctioned the use of the big. Just seems like trying to kick the while their down.

I'm willing to guess that most people on the leaderboard have been playing this since the release or close to it. Yes there will be exceptions but you know what maybe next games needs a patch for this to make it so someone who has been playing for a month can pass someone playing for 2 months. Maybe they need to make a patch for people who don't have as much free time as others. Maybe they need a patch to make up for people who play in the Northern Hemisphere to make up for the advantage of playing in the Southern Hemisphere. The last few lines was dripping with sarcasm if you couldn't tell.

Customers come and customers go that's a fact of business. One thing that is important is to replace more than you lose so time will tell. Until then it would be nice if some people would dial back the sense of self entitlement, stop starting threads when there are already 10 of them going (it seems like those people are just standing on a table in the middle of the room yelling look at me) and if you want to play then play. If you want to quit then quit but there are too many people saying they want to quit or this person is quitting or threaten to quit or they keep playing and they keep with the constant negative criticism.

^ You need to take the advice of your user name ^

Forums are for open discussion and he wasn't being disrespectful to anyone. If you don't feel like validating him or don't want to read a thread going the obvious direction this one is bound to go then don't click on it.

You don't have the right to tell anyone how they ought to feel or what they should and shouldn't be upset about. The update isn't even a week old, you can't even give people a week to voice their opinions before coming in to silence them? Just don't click on the thread it's really simple.

Clou I never told him he didn't have the right to voice his opinion. I heard his opinion and my response was that he is overreacting and that he is trying to speak for many when he should speak only for himself. It seems to me that several other people agree with me that there is some overreaction on his part. An example of this is someone said mountains out of molehills in their response. I could point out more but this isn't a debate. I too am able to voice my opinions but see how I said it looks like to me that some people agree. I didn't say people agree with me. Big difference.

There is no winning Internet arguments and that's not what I'm trying to do. I heard him and I voiced my opinions but this isn't a debate or argument. Some people may try to turn it into a debate or argument but I won't let them.

I come to the forum mainly to read the announcements not to read the other threads. The reason why I (and I wish I could put the I in bold letters ) don't like to read the other threads is because there is a serious disconnect from reality in some of these threads and that disconnect ranges from one end of the spectrum to the other end.

I'm assuming from the way things are going, this is still a relatively small team and they don't have a lot of player data yet. Unless they'd rather have analytics down the road tell them when players leave, what frustrates users etc. it's always better to listen to the actual users before they uninstall the app because then you have the why. Most people don't take the time.

IMO the OP's criticism was constructive and not overreactive in any way at all. Just because a bunch of people like to invalidate the opinions of others they don't like doesn't mean a thing about what actually happened; i.e. reality. He was stating what he observed this week after the update and posted it on a forum. There was no emotional reaction from him at all, much less overreaction.

How could someone not know about it? Everyone knew about them but many hadn't made it that far in the maps yet to have a ton of threads discussing strategy. There were some, though. They were listed in game resource websites as rewards... It wasn't a big secret. There's no conspiracy.

I was never under any kind of impression that they were a bug. They fit to me, why would you bother getting slaughtered in episode 11 or 12 nightmare for a low level survivor that you'll retire anyway? You have level 19-20 walkers right out of the gate! I have yet to get past first half of 11.1 nightmare but not sure why I'd put my survivors through that now and have them in the hospital all the time and waste the gas for nothing lol

I don't get why players complain about the bug. It's free for all and just puts you into a level you can't actually progress further.

I personally like it because give me the operation it's to get further as same for everyone else in the game. Otherwise I just get bore farming stars and clan gets upset because not making rep blah blah

Either way this is open to all and anyone can use it. They will fix it in their own time and now that people know it exists the leader boards will normalize as per normal. Every game change upsets the leader boards but question is what does it change? Do top 3 get extra bonuses? Are top three not smart enough to look at forums?

Enjoy it while it lasts and keep grinding.
When soft cap comes I quit the game.
