Does the graphical sound wave in 1.6.4 improve the game?

JAGJAG Member Posts: 291
I suppose all of us tried the upgrade now. Did you get the "graphical sound wave" too?
http://forums.nextgames.com/walkingdead/discussion/3808/the-new-visible-sound-wave-effect-is-a-1-for-me#latest

Bonus questions:
* What is the purpose of the circle? The most popular response to such question (NG want's to earn more money) I think is not applicable in this case (yet) so be more creative!
* What did you think when you saw the announcement for this "urgent critical fix release" didn't mention the usual "lots of under the hood" changes?

IMPORTANT NOTE: Regardless if you hate it or love it, please try to keep this thread an on-topic discussion. Allow each and everyone to have their opinion and do not try to convince the others. Make another thread if you want that, or just find the closest BEEF room if you need to blow off steam. Thank you for your cooperation! (And yes, I know it isn't that easy. So keep trying, I will too.)

    As to not bias the responses I will wait with mine for a while...

    EDIT: Can't hold off any longer. I say no.
    And I wouldn't suggest an on/off option for it until someone states a strong legitimate purpose to have the circle in there. I want to help NG focus their efforts. Maintaining options is far more troublesome than "one size fits all" features.

    I prefer to see options to turn it off. I don't like it

    I voted no as well and started a conversation with Staff about it HERE. I like that NG cares about the graphics but am not fond of this particular choice.

    As mentioned by @eetu the change in sound wave circle is a glitch.. it is not intentional. As for the purpose of this circle, it is to indicate a threat, a cue that the next wave of zombies will have an additional.. personally, it doesnt really bother me.. if it got removed or nor not, both fine with me. So i didnt vote for a yes or no. Just wanted to explain things..

    Yeah, I do apologize for the black borders on Android, they will be gone.

    As I explained in the other thread, the effect is geared towards new players getting to know the mechanics. This seems to conflict a bit with the needs of the veterans, I see - I'll try to think of a sensible compromise.

    Everyone, I cleverly engineered the question so that "I don't care" should equal a "no" unless you had a clear improvement to mention. Just so you know...

    @AysatyoPet : The entire circle is new to me in 1.6.4. Do you indicate that you've had it "minus the glitch" before?

    Also, it's perfectly fine not to vote, thank you for your effort to clarify. To me personally there were several cues telling me about walker wave already from first day I started the game so I still don't think the circle has any merit at all. Still open for brought in evidence thought.

    Oh. OH. So you never had the sound waves before? Have they been missing on Android all this time? Shieet, if that's the case it's a tad embarrassing for me :)

    The wave has always been there.. its just not that visible before..a glitch in update 1.6.4 made it so visible because of the black line added to it

    I tried an old build from early December on my Android device, and the sound waves were there. I wonder if it could be device dependent - what is your device JAG?

    Currently "Sony Xperia M5 duo" with Android 5.0 but in that case it may as well have to do with this particular device, e.g. my backlight settings etc. Let me know when the glitch fix is released and I'll have another look and see if I recognise it or not.

    EDIT: I looked at random videos on YouTube and I see the circle there. I can't say I haven't had that too. It doesn't look intrusive so I might had it subconsciously. Can't really tell. Sorry if I reacted too strong on this. The major trigger for me was the unexpected degrade in a build that I thought was specifically only targeting known bugs.

    That said, I still think the poll can shed more light on usability, so please go on voting as you like.

    I use android. Galaxy s4. But i see the sound wave exists even before the update.. so its not an issue of ios or android.. but probably device models..

    @eetu

    I never saw it before the update either and still would rather not have it. Again this is a game of strategy. If something happens that you dont like as a player then its your job to figure out how to minimize it. Even newbies should be able to figure this out without the sould waves or they should join guilds and get taught. Please scrap that particular bit of awfulness.

    And Im sorry but I have looked at plenty of walk though videos on youtube and not once did I see that horrible green line that kinda puts me in mind of Slimer from the Ghostbusters so your argument here is not really convining in my opinion.

    Now that the fast forward button is a toggle, I hooked the sound wave up with it. When in FFWD, no waves.
    Didn't make the cut for 1.7, but will pop up in the future :)

    @DarkFae i dont know how you missed that soundwave.. maybe because its not that visible before compared to now. But not noticing it doesn't mean it didnt exist before.. Just look at the video above. Anyway, no point in arguing. They said it has been fixed by ff toggle in 1.7..

    Should be less visible, it's like a fucking bomb shockvawe now

    @AysatyoPet

    Even @eetu has admited at this point that it is possible that the sound wave might not have been visible on some devices. I did not see it before the update and thought it was new. So thats how I missed, it was not visible untill after the update for me. I can post instructionsal videos that I made for my guild proving that it was not there before but tbh I really shouldnt have to prove it to you friend. I also can post youtube videos made by others of missions being completed successfully that do not include that graphic effect. So please lets leave your doubts and suspictions out of this okay? Thanks :)
