On the rare occasion I need a defensive shooter, he's my guy. Perfect traits out of the box.
That said, with extensive reroll he's an awesome offensive option too with his LT.

Damage and crit damage don't serve much purpose versus Outpost missions.
Walkers are max level 26 and human enemies can't use badges so their defense is garbage. Normal unboosted attacks are usually enough.
Consider building your Outpost attackers with health and damage reduction. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results.

I know. I used to run him with Carol in the lead, along with another shooter, because of the Retaliate trait. Have him open the gate and if the defenders were tg blockers, my other shooter could take out one defender, Carol do what she could and if Merle got hit, the retaliate has a better chance of a Critical hit.

I am disappointed that Merle is not still Star Hero... or more importantly, not star hero when GW is on... He only got 1 week, while everyone else got 2.

They gave us minute gas and reduced healing all week which I’ll take any week over a star hero personally.
