Walker movement behaviour on corners

Hey guys,

I am pretty sure that I saw walkers moving in two different ways around corners.
1.) They really move around the corner in adjactent tiles (no diagonal movement).
2.) They "cut" the corner by moving one space diagonally.

Do you know when which of these behaviour happens?

There does not seem to be any clear indication of a soft vs hard corner. You just need to know it. You can see if a corner is hard or soft by tracking your move around it, but obviously that is not always possible.

Would be really useful if the grid showed hard corners!

Would it be possible to make the outlines (the light blue line around objects) of hard corners right angles and soft corners rounded?

I heard you can test corners by aiming hunters. Is that true? Urban myth?

I get dingged by corner walkers more than any other possibly preventable way. I really want a way to know hard vs. soft. It will help me improve.
