Any occasion where there are stunned walkers, knowing if they are stunned for one or two turns should be seen at first glance. If there are more statuses involved you will now have to carefully study the field and these flickering icons. I don't think a picture is required to see that. Especially if there are multiple enemies, which is not uncommon in the distance and elsewhere.
I would imagine this is true at any but the very lowest of player levels. As soon as you can play the distance this is an issue, I'm sure.
I have a great suggestion for the next update! Make the screen less cluttered by removing the FLEE button and instead have it alternate with the END TURN button, like one second END TURN and the next second FLEE. That would make the screen even crisper!

...Also make 3 survivors' card to the right switch top to bottom every other second, wrap the screen with Christmas lights, and call it Festive NML. That'll do it.
"I understand that at your level of play and understanding of the game, this feels very frustrating, but it would be truly helpful if you would be able to provide screenshots/gifs/recordings of instances where you find that the visual indicators are ruining your experience."
I think everyone have complained too much about this topic and they have provided specific screenshots/gifs/recordings on the front pages of this thread. And did you actually watch them?
I bet you still don't know the chaos of the new symbols and the slowness of the spear animation. Although I do not deny the effort put into this update. But, if you put a vote (remove or agree), you will see how many people are protesting and resenting, because not everyone writes what they think on this forum.
Pretty sad that we must beta test everything including terrible updates that no one asked for with a terrible game mode not many care for that actually locks people out the game?! Seriously does anyone at NG check anything before rolling it out? Why do we never get asked for any input on how to improve or fix the game as is either? Many problems existing still go on untouched. This is a total guide on how to lose the faith of your customers imo. 😔
p.s. Does anybody play this game at all for NG?
Answer: Obviously no because they wouldn’t be asking on why the game is so messed up nowadays. 😫
@Fluxxx any chance I can get my gold back from all the quick healing I was doing from the nonstop fails from not being able to tell if the walkers are stunned , rooted , crippled or just on fire. I ran out of time this past challenge from the nonstop replaying the nightmare rounds where we have herds building up and can’t tell what their status is cause they are all a small yellow symbol and if they are on fire it will flash the different symbols. Please just go back to the old way. We can see the walker on fire we don’t need a symbol for that. Different colors for the different types of status would be very helpful install of them looking the same way. You can barely tell if they are stunned for 1 or 2 turns as well. Please change this nonsense
Ok , now i am seriously curious about what's next in next update ☺️ Literally , i have no idea how you will possibly ruin this game more after your last three updates !!!!!! You surprise me more and more ☺️
P.s.; "fixing" the outpost will be a real challenge ,since its bottom rock and doesn't seem to get any worse . Maybe try it?
Seriously now , even the f2p after 5,5 years have maxed players that plays in this missions you talk about. Only your beta testing team (suppose you have one ) doesn't know the problem it seems . Hope you know what happens to businesses that are loosing their loyal customer base from mistakes they are responsible. Fix our game 😡😡😡😡
My apologies for the late response on this thread. As some have mentioned previously, we're prioritizing game-breaking issues in the game such as reload loops that prevent players from playing, or the damage bug that causes some survivors to deal lower damage after being stuck in a reload loop.
Due to the fact that the status symbols are a mostly visual matter (though of course, we've seen your feedback that it also slows down play and makes the understanding of the game harder), I hope you can understand why we would choose to focus on bugs that compromise the function of the game instead. With that said, we do hear your feedback and we will do our best to address it after the Season 11 update.
For beginners and more intermediate players, the visual effects are meant to improve understanding of what's going on - but at those levels you're also rarely up against big swarms of walkers, and rarely inflicting multiple status effects. I understand that at your level of play and understanding of the game, this feels very frustrating, but it would be truly helpful if you would be able to provide screenshots/gifs/recordings of instances where you find that the visual indicators are ruining your experience.
This is a joke. You say beginner/intermediate don't face huge hordes and use multiple status effects so why did you try to make it easier for them to understand something they will rarely face. What you actually did is make it much harder to understand for the players who actually get to this stage. I would be interested to know what % your high end, loyal customers, who push to these crazy levels, spending mass amounts of gold and tools every week make of your total profit? Compared to the beginners/intermediates who are likely spending nothing as they get to grips with the game.
The fact that this isn't going to be addressed until AFTER the next update is a huge slap in the face to the many, many people expressing their displeasure at the new changes we never even asked for. If you cannot fix it for the next update then I suggest hitting the undo button, reverting it to what it was and shelving it until you can actually design it in a way that doesn't make the game worse for a huge proportion of your player base.
Yea it's pretty scary to think of what you will do next to drive more away from this once beloved game. Gotta go turn off my automatic updates on my device now. 😱😱😱
Take care of the community opinion before everyone stop being upset, that's when no one cares about the problem of this game anymore, it doesn't matter anymore.
Oh great now the Chainsaw is even commenting on the forum! You know things have gone to Hell in a hand basket 🧺 if that looney toon is here 😂!
Lol, so true, NG made it so bad with this update even the legendary players who stay on top no matter what, are voicing their opinions about this fiasco. I had to tell the chapters in my guild, I was only going to play the challenge 2 hours a week, and drop my GW lvl by two so I never have to use tools again, not buy more gold to support these game breaking updates that make me want to kick a puppy. There are so many insanely awful things about this update the devs need to “prioritize” fixing the updates that broke the game completely for players versus the parts of the update that just made the whole community irritated so they don’t want to spend any real money on this ever again. Oh, and it’s almost funny that there were no “updates” to GW, yet tons of bugs making that event garbage. GW matching now bugged, whole teams of 10 being marked absent so they get screwed, etc, etc…. Friggen call no joy and just revert this disaster, until you have a clue what’s wrong.

I cannot disagree more strongly. There is nothing more clear than this. here we can see clearly, at a glance, who is stunned, and who is not.
Can you tell me who is stunned in this shot: Not without meticulously inspecting the ever flashing symbols. We have the redundant burning animation (good, totally sufficient), and the burning symbol (utterly useless). The stunned symbol, which is CRITICAL here, flashes so fast, and is so hard to see, you really have no idea who is stunned without endlessly waiting for it to flash by, and then try to memorize which walkers are really stunned or not. BRING BACK the pretty spinning yellow pinwheel. It was so clear, so effortless. Now it is a chore, and I am losing missions because of it.

I support the use of Hunter S. Thompson related materials! Doc Approved!

The only thing is missing in the OLD status different colors for 1 and 2 turn stun. There wasn't any need to create an (over)complicated new system.
I still continue to get caught by this a week and change later, it is not a case of adjusting to it as I don't think I ever will. Especially when this new game mode and new mission strategies with Yumiko encourage long, drawn out play. It is not so game breaking that I won't play the game full stop but I do plan to take a bit of a step back and certainly in terms of spending there will be none of that...
Its terrible. As Welly said, this is not a matter of getting used to it. This is just not working on any level. Add to that our first 2 GW battles calling us absent, i just dont feel like playing, and I've literally logged in every day for years and had no plans to alter that, but it seems decisions are being made for me.
Here's another example showcasing it doesn't have to be huge crowds to make it confusing. Before it took you one second to see who is stunned and who isn't. Can you see who is stunned and for who long in this 6 second video?
I think some of the icons are pretty useful but I can see that the current system may not be ideal. Maybe certain ones could be turned/on off? Depending on usefulness.

@Burmeliinis exactly! The explanation offered that these new symbols somehow help new players who are not dealing with hordes of walkers has no merit. They are terrible for ANY player because they do not give you the information you need at a glance, which was working perfectly before the update.
The status symbols needed a little upgrade. This complete overhaul was not good.
Things like stun and for how long should be permanently visible. Rooting and cripple shouldn't cycle either.
You've been selling assault weapons that have multi-turn stun. Great sales I can imagine. Same goes for bruiser weapons. It is a surprise this update makes using those weapons less fun?
There is no excuse for introducing this symbols update.

Probably best to wait across the street until the fire department comes and see if there's anything salvageable after the smoke clears.
