History of guild wars spreadsheet doesn't magically obtain win rate data. It's just guessed based on the score unless the guild submitted the data.

For example my guilds team sizes and win rates are very wrong on several days because it's assuming we played for the scoreboard, while we actually played for the wins/rewards, and help back.

And it only has win rate data for the very top guilds (top 0.01% maybe, but I'm just guessing).

here you wrong, this battle results on 98% true and no need confirm from guilds.
I'm use online gw ratings War, Season, All Time.
I'm do pre check before fighting end around 1.5 hour and then second check after fighting ends.
online laderbord show score right now and how it's changing stay same, raise on 1.5 or 1.25 show result of the fighting.
there problem sometimes when guilds drop out from Season 100 or War 100 then I'm can only guess about win, lose or draw

Ok. My bad @CroKK_onemoretime. My apologies. My guild happens to be in the 2% then. If you want, I can send you data to correct. I can't edit that tab. But I also don't think it's important.

I'm definitely not trying to step on your efforts. I much appreciate them, but they can't be used to understand "most guilds". They are for top guilds (apart from the long list of end season scores you used to assembly, but this doesn't have win rates).

The problem may not be that the matchmaking does not work - most guilds with more uniform strength seem to get close to 50-50 performance.

The ways to score more wins seem to be related to (intentionally or not) find ways to avoid meeting stronger or equally strong guilds. This is easy to do now there is data in public domain to observe what other guilds are doing.

For top guilds, this means never play teams of 8 and teams of 6. You know from past data they almost always go with teams of 8 and teams of 6, rarely with teams of 7, almost never with teams of 10, 9, or 5 and fewer.

For mid tier guilds, this means play MORE often teams of 6 or fewer.

You cannot improve matchmaking and force "Sweden" with teams of 9 to play WW or TLOU or RIH with teams of 6.
    Enjoy those sour grapes matey.
1 day you might wake up and realise some people play the game on face value to what is convenient in RL and truly don’t give a F what WW/Mavs/TLOU/BB are doing.

One thing I would like to see is an improvement to the way we can earn class bonuses. Pretty much everybody ignores the bonus sectors because they're not worth doing. Which is sad, because it could actually help make other teams more viable at higher levels.

Why not get rid of the bonus sectors and give smaller class bonuses for completing regular sectors? For example, if you complete 17A then Warriors deal 20% more damage, complete 17B maybe Bruisers get more health. If you complete another sector with a Warrior damage bonus then they can stack.

Also, allow us to toggle bonuses on or off before going into maps. This way if you get something like; Assaults 20% less chance of body shot, then you can turn it off and still use SMY.

I think I came up with a better idea than my previous suggestion that I posted above. Smaller bonuses, stacking bonuses and toggling them off might be too complicated to implement. Also, people will probably still just use SMY most of the time anyway.

    Here is my new idea:

    1. Still get rid of those bonus sectors.

    2. Each sector has it's own class bonus. Perhaps there can be an additional smaller bonus for the entire Island.

    3. Each sector will also have a class that you can't use at all.

So for example, imagine you log in to Guild Wars and 20A has a class bonus of +50% Scout damage and no Assaults are allowed. 20B then maybe has +25% less chance of body shots for Hunters and no Warriors allowed. 20C then might have +25% less chance of body shot for Bruisers and no Shooters allowed. The bonuses and excluded classes will be the same for all teams playing on the same day.

This could shake things up quite a bit. Players will potentially have to use other strategies, and guilds may have to actually consider if they can complete 20.

I really like this idea. I think I would like it to be the same for every guild though. I know it's random but one guild might end up getting lucky and never really have SMY blocked in island 20 whilst another may end up crippled with it.

It would shake things up quite nicely!

Would your idea prevent the use of a certain class at all or just as it might relate to a bonus?
  • ShadowWalkerShadowWalker Member Posts: 1,214
@Billbam the idea is that there would be a certain class you can't use at all, but the class may be different for each sector. So in 20A you might not be able to use Bruisers at all, and in 20B you might not be able to use any Assaults. The bonuses will also be different for each sector and will only affect that sector. Both bonuses and excluded classes will change for each battle.

I was kind of inspired by the suggestion of having sectors where you can't use tools. However, I realized that would just lead to players relying on SMY even more because that is the team that you can most likely complete a mission without using tools. So my solution was just have sectors where you can't use certain classes.

@WellyLuga yes the bonuses/excluded classes should be the same for every guild playing on the same day. It definitely would have to at least be the same for the teams facing off against each other.

I just score 1000+ every war and let the rest sort it out 😆

Honestly I don't care if I win or lose because I buy everything I want in the GW shop by the 4th week anyway.....

Hopefully you intend this for the max level sections only...limited classes to low and mid level players would just throw roadblocks at them that they will get frustrated with and basically stop growing.  Not to mention make it harder to keep less motivated players in GW.

Yeah that's a good point so maybe it can be something like this:

Lower level sectors automatically get two class bonuses active in the sector (no classes banned).

Mid-Level sectors get one class bonus (no classes banned).

High level sectors get one class bonus and one class banned.

This would definitely lead to a lot more tool usage, but I'm willing to try that out. We need something new and this is maybe the best idea I've seen so far!

I know much has been said about the matchmaking issues, especially as it relates to "new" guilds.  But going into today, our first day participating in this weeks GW, I thought maybe we'd have an even, or easy, matchup.  Nope.

We are a mixed-ish Guild, myself and 2-3 others can do max levels, but most everyone else max's out around L43.  We make it to Master tier each War, so we always reset to Silver 2.

Last War, and then right off the bat today, we get matched up against Bronze 1 the first two weeks.  Our opponent today, Breaking Deads, has so far closed 20, 18, and 12.  We can do 1-2 top level islands with who we have, but can not even compete with these "new" Guilds starting out at Bronze 1.

I get that these Guilds are doing whats best for them, and that it's a loophole that NG created and has no current way to close.  It is frustrating though, to log on in the morning and realize that you've already lost before your guild even has a chance to play a quarter of it's attacks.  Feels like it's low on the list, or not even on the list, of things NG wants to fix/improve.

Maybe someday we'll get fair and balanced matchups.

Yeah I think some players like @Karajoca suggested doing like separate "leagues" or something.

Like baseball has "the major league" and the "minor league"

Maybe a minor league guild needs to reach master tier before they are bumped into "the majors" on the following season

Minor league and major league have separate leader boards.

Sure, strong players could still form new baby guilds and pound on rookies if they want to, but then the best they could do is #1 rookie guild in the world. Big honors there... Pfft.

Plus their low class tactics will be on full display for everyone in the NML world.

    @Winston457
    @Lexia please consider this.

@Winston457 that is a known visual bug showing your opponent as Bronze I at the beginning of a new GW season.

What about expanding the Master tier?  Instead of a massive catch-all, have levels in Master tier like all the other tiers.

Sorry, I don't log in often, so I comment randomly.  Thanks for the info.  If it was a visual glitch, well, that happens.  However, as far as I know, guilds restarting to get lesser opponents is still a thing.  Either way, we were toast from the start.  It happened, I'm over it.  Thanks again.

I like the Major/Minor league idea.  I also think an expansion of the Master Tier would be helpful.  Have 3, or more, levels in the Master tier, like in all the other tiers.

That would need to coincide with an adjustment to where guilds reset to at the beginning of a new season.  Having more tiers and a revamped reset could allow for more even matchups at the beginning of a season.

I think I mentioned this before, but i wonder what a "Non-Beta" Guild Wars would look like?

I mean other than, all but the rarest bugs gone. That would be a win by itself, sure, but is that it?

Are we expecting "Non-Beta" Wars will somehow be a different experience?

Or will it simply be (once the bugs are gone) removing the word "Beta" and then proceeding to play essentially the same game mode as before?

I'm just trying to manage expectations here.
