Is it just me or does anyone else "hear" profanity that isn't actually said when Abraham speaks? Like when he said, "Who's Dianna?" The way he said it left just enough time for the brain to insert an f bomb.
And he actually used a word this past episode that some people consider profanity while others see as common language.
Think about it, any word that deals with a bodily function or sexual/sexualized body part other than the "proper" word is considered profanity to someone somewhere. I was chastized for swearing once when referring to my own boobs beacuse the person believed any word other than breasts was offensive.
If your going to be that sensitive, you'd best stay home and only watch Sesame Street.

One thing that any "word that deals with a bodily function or sexual/sexualized body part" has in common (even the proper terms) is that none of them are people's names! Ok, except for Dick.
If there was profanity spoken by the characters in the game I wouldn't mind at all, but "naming" your survivor "EatShitModz" is just dumb and annoying as hell. You can never really stop dumb, it's true, but filtering out the basics is a fine start.
Wait are we just talking English or other languages....are you all trying to discriminate against players in other countries that speak different languages?? What kind of example are all of you setting for our impressionable youth that shouldn't be playing this mature game anyway... Our love of killing zombies zombies and seeing their gore splattered across our devices shouldn't be restrained by narrow minded people nitpicking about every little thing. Especially about profanity in a mature rated game.
I repeat: Puh-le-ase stop with asking for profanity filtering. It's a waste of time (anyone w half an inkling can boggle it using l33t speak or phonetic spellinz ;b ) and the game has many other issues in need of more timely attention.

... don't be a "Richard". :b
Auto filters can lead to some very strange results. It is looking for letter strings that are deemed as offensive words by the programmer, but may or may not be intended. Eg: "I need a good clan" - " I nee* * **ood clan" "... That it said..." - "...Tha* ** *aid" "... there's another point..." - "...th**** *other point..." "... good agony..." - "... goo* ***ny..." "... there's a good reason for..." - "... th***** * good reason..."

True true I have two little girls. I would not let them play this game and if my 9 year old did and saw that I would find out pretty quick with the gasp she emitted. *chuckles* then I'd take the phone and tell her "that'll teach ya".
Btw I havent seen anything this humorous and I've been playing for months.... What rock was I hiding under.
There is profanity in the game. They say shit and goddamn. Could be some other ones I can't remember.

Wrote this on 3/15 (it stayed in my reply text box all this time) but never got around to posting it. Needed some time away. It was supposed to be permanent, but I had to come back - this time with a little cooler head - when I was told about the 1.8 update release. Update time is my favorite time to be on the forums
@tammy@tunky@bgbelden I couldn't agree more. I had to read OldGoth's post a couple times hoping I was misreading.
LOL!! A profanity filter Really guys? Aren't we all adults here? If not, consider changing the rating to 6+ and incorporate some bubble pop side challenges.
"Hate speech" Priceless!!!
=========== New edit 3/31: I expected something - there are always bugs with new updates - but this "filter" goes way beyond the magnitude of what I expected to happen. Lmao
For those of you who wanted the name filter how are you enjoying it so far?
On a more serious note... very happy to read all the "adult" members finally voicing their feelings about wanting to be treated as adults in an "adult" game. The year is 2016 people! Time to remove the sticks from your donkeys.
Hopefully, all this revved up forum activity will shed light on what some members were trying to accomplish before getting banned or deciding to leave the game.
I see both sides of it. It certainly isnt a big enough deal that a filter should come before improvements to game. I cuss as much as the next person. If i hit my thumb with a hammer youre gonna hear some good ones. But if you tell me to suck your dick its very likely were gonna fight. On the internet people take advantage of the anonymity. Its stupid and childish but it is what it is. The internet where people act stupid. It wouldbe nice to play with other adults who act like adults, but there is only one version of the game. So here we all are. What really gets me is the people who are like, if i cant name my player fuckhead i just wont play. Really? Its that important to you to name your survivor dicklicker? Just go on random chat rooms cussing people out.
As I cut the head off of a walker while it's on its knees, blood spewing and the sound of metal cutting through decaying bone resonates out of my speakers my eyes will not have read any curse words.
@MomofSnolpe I don't know who Snolpe is but your post made me chuckle. For me it's about the intent, not the word itself. Some words have built-in intent but your test words can be benign.
Nothing else to add that hasn't already been said repeatedly in this thread. This game is not a babysitter for your kids, this game is not for children.
I'm finding this censorship vs offense thing going on in the forum quite interesting but it's also a waste of time.
Players can complain, we do it all the time. But it's the response from NG that is so unbelievable.

Sorry, still lol at "hate speech" comment. smh.
Uniform
Charlie
It's a game, aimed at an audience that watches The Walking Dead.
Last I checked, that's not a childrens tv show.
To hell with political correctness.
