    @Shadowkeeper thanks for the reply and the appology. I hope NG will make this an example of how NOT to do things in future internal decision-making meetings.

    But you guys have a lot more problems to sort out now, so will leave you to it. Cheers.
    I'm lost.

    You want to ad the game by using people who have no clue what they are doing and even more, obviously don't even know the TWD cast (how was Michonne pronounced again?). What kind of strategy is this?

    I have no idea about any strategy. I do personally think that it can be attractive for newbies to see content by newbies. Kinda like "taking the journey together" into figuring out a new game.

    NG at its best.

    I tried to be clear that this is my personal opinion, please don't mistake it as NG communication.

    @eetu

    If that is the case then all they would have had to do is mark the content as being content for newbies created by newbies then put some links to the content creator channels in the comments section (stating that game strategy from the pros and upcomming event announcements can be found here. Problem solved....I do get so tired of solving problems for free for people making more money in a week than I will ever see in my life time...Sigh...ngo will you please now do us all a favor and get your shit together? Thanks

    True dat. Still, someone at NG must have decided to have videos done to "attract new players". Nice idea, but how it was done is just terrible and that is just NG at their best. It's not even that they lack of good ideas but how they do it is just so bad.

    Any time it crosses my mind to buy a booster, I come back here and read the first page. Last time we had a double-something weekend (it happened to be double supplies) I bought a gas booster so I could maximize my supplies runs. Boring but, if you don't farm for XP, you can rapid fire the missions and gather a lot of tomato cans in an hour.

    This time, I could use some XP (who can't?) but I'm not buying gas to run a bunch of XP exploration missions. I'm not even running the ones I could run with the free gas that I get.

    I feel like I should care but I don't.

    An update to an old thread here. I thought I'd post a portion of a now current Next Games job positing for "Master of Puppet Analytics". You can read the whole ad on the Next Games web site if you so desire.
    =====
    Master of Puppet Analytics

    Without their knowing, the survivors of the post-apocalyptic world are watched constantly. Day and night, their moves and decisions are recorded with great diligence. Sometimes they are presented with different alternative courses of action, only to observe their behaviour and change the rules of the world accordingly. Sometimes their whole history since the apocalypse is pulled out of vast archives and placed under careful scrutiny and compared to their peers.

    But watched by whom?

    As it happens, Dear Reader, it could be you. The Analytics team at Next Games is looking for a Game Analyst for one of the game teams. Do you want to go beyond your usual daily activities of stalking and watching your neighbours? Do you want to spread information on other people, but on vastly larger scale and better accuracy than the usual office gossip? Do you want to keep on labeling people, but with far more accurate terms than the [CENSORED BY HR] you are accustomed to? If your expression already gives out your excitement, you might finally have found the job of your calling.

    The analyst is is responsible for giving the game team visibility and insight on the behaviour of their players. The analyst is involved in all phases of the lifetime of the game. She will initially specify the data to be collected from gameplay, and eventually turn it into actionable pieces of information. Moreover, the analyst will prepare models to predict player behaviour and construct segmentations of players to gain further insight on them and e.g. to help targeting marketing efforts. She is supported in her work by other members of the analytics team.

    What you’ll get to work on:

    Supporting the game team in decisions and development, based on the past data on player behaviour
    Specifying and possibly implementing game analytics event reporting to the company’s big data storage, in cooperation with the data engineer of the analytics team
    Proactively following the collective behaviour of players in order to spot any significant changes
    Constructing reliable reporting of high-level figures, such as daily number of users and money spent in the game, to be utilized by the analytics team’s finance/marketing specialists
    Modeling the player behaviour in order to predict and facilitate affecting it
    =====
    I bolded a few of the interesting pieces of this job ad. They continue to use some humor in this posting, but they have toned it down from earlier versions. If you ask me, it's certainly better than the average boring job posting that many companies use. As a customer, I am not offended by this ad, but that's me.

    Data analytics does continue to be a focus for Next Games. Given the games history at this point, I do think they understand a lot about player behavior now. For example, I do think Next Games knows the driving factors that cause players to purchase bundles and radio calls, and they can do use this information to entice players to make purchases.

    As an example, I do wonder if they know that if they provide a carefully analyzed segment of players with the proper amount of hero tokens during a radio call, it may be more likely that these segment of players will buy additional radios to unlock or upgrade them if they are close to unlocking or upgrading them. However, I am just guessing here on this example and do not know they actually do this specific example.

    But we do know the following: "Sometimes they are presented with different alternative courses of action, only to observe their behaviour and change the rules of the world accordingly." This allows Next Games to do the "Modeling the player behavior in order to facilitate affecting it." This affecting player behavior is part of the equation in the Next Games random number generators, one can probably presume.

    As an aside, it's also interesting that the pronoun "She" is used in several places in this job posting. I am not sure if Next Games thinks women are better in this role than men or no. LOL...;-)

    Damn guys, learn your nerdy sarcasm!
    If this was my skill set I'd be totally hyped by that recruitment ad and apply straightaway!!!

    NG is a for-profit organisation. There's actual strategies involved for getting consumers (yeah, that's us) to buy shit from them.
    Just the same in any kind of business.
    Even the grocery store around the corner; although their strategies might not be just that technical, they'll just put the sweets near the register for your impuls buys, and the A-brands at eye-hight for the most likely grabs, stuff like that, but it's all the same in principle.
    This is all fine yeah?

    I call toxic on this tread. Bad form.
    End rant.

    It's not toxic, considering previous versions of job ad and limited communication from ng it does show that our behaviour does effect the way they operate, ie without this thread they would be using the former ad wording which was just plain offensive for most who read it.
    Btw no one has ever disputed the ng is a profit making enterprise, what we have disputed is the manner in which they view and treat us. This atleast on surface appears to have changed slightly.
    Does anyone know of someone offering a nerdy sarcasm course we can take?

    Lmao @MadPuppy yes we are all well aware of these practices ...just most places don't make it public when the wording, being riotously funny for applicants, is so demeaning to their customers....just bad PR.

    And no one is really being "toxic" :smile:

    Whoa, I think this struck a little to close to home for someone (@MadPuppy). Totally agree with @tammy and @Dlblis. Any how, it is your right to express your opinion as it is ours. As far as nerd sarcasm, I'm fluent in a different dialect!
  • I don't care for NG and the way it operates. I do however love The Walking Dead and in turn NML.
    But because of the way this company operates, with crooked deals, horrendous customer service and other questionable tactics, I'll never like the company.

    Anyone really think RNG plays as big a part in this game as they say it does? Then how come you can get so many gas cans while on a gas booster?

    Computers can't do random. The best they can do is algorithms that approximate random. And, being an algorithm, it can be tweaked in all sorts of ways.

    It doesn't make sense that there would be additional gas cans while on a gas booster. What would be the purpose of that? To tick us off and remind us that buying a booster is a bad idea? Still, it does seem to happen a lot . . .
