Assault Rifles No Longer As Effective?

Has anyone noticed their assault rifles not being as good over the last couple of days. I used to go with a level 22 Epic assault rifle with my level 19 Legendary Assault Survivor (1416 damage). I could mow down all level 19 walkers about 80% of the time. Now, I'm lucky to get half of them killed. They also take a bunch of body shots now.

Just curious if anyone else is experiencing the same thing or I'm on a run of bad luck (or had a couple of months of really good luck).

Is it the weapon or are you just getting more body shots in general.

Hey I thought it was just me! Im experiencing the same things as you with assault. Using Abraham's trait + My level 19 + level 22 legend + golden lethal trait you would think will take down level 19 no problems.

Well I do notice it gives me a lot more body shots than before. Need to take 2 shots on level 19 walkers more often now.. I think they did mention of an assault nerf a few updates ago with the wide spread so could that be why we are experiencing more
Body shots? Not sure but would be great to see if others are experiencing similarly.

Abraham almost never dodges for some reason

I've not got Abraham, but regularly use 3 lvl 19 Assaults (2 Leg, 1 Epic) and can't honestly say I've noticed any difference.
Although I will say that I haven't yet found a lvl 19 Assault rifle with wide spread, either silver or gold.

@Governator Yes I have noticed the same and have collected data for the last while on the hunter and the assault. I just haven't had time to post my findings. i will one day when i get time. I promise.

Noticed the same. Survivors lvl 19 very often from assault gun hitting body shots on walkers lvl 19 especially on XP exploration maps

@Governator I've definitely noticed the same. My Lvl 19 leg assault with a Lvl 22 epic rifle (1500 damage) used to have no problem mowing down waves of Lvl 19 walkers. Last day or two at least half the pack I'm targeting are left standing. Number of body shots seems to have doubled at least! Very strange!!

I don't often agree with these "hey did anyone else notice" threads but I do here. This isn't a very sporadic thing like the experience of phone drops; this is something you test again and again (especially when grinding on a gas booster) and I really have to agree.

At this point with my level 22 AR, I should be doing the same damage as my hunter and her level 20 rifle. They are listed as 1492 (assault) and 1477 (hunter) at the moment. I feel like the assault is clearly getting more body shots lately and a guildmate of mine pinged me out of nowhere yesterday asking if I noticed this too. Then I see this thread. Might need to gather some data, but by feel, I completely agree with the posts above.

They nerfed the assaults big time. Didn't lower the price to upgrade, but nerfed them nonetheless.

You can't expect the assualt to clear a heard of higher level walkers every time, but my level 19's still on occasion kill 10 level 19 walkers on assorted XP farming missions all the time. I always use my assualt first, then my two hunters to clear out the remainder of the walkers "just in case" I get a high level of the dreaded body shots. I really have not seen a change since the last two uodates but I have certainly seen a nerf on my hunters kill power. Way more body shots than ever.

Thanks all for confirming that NG has apparently "tweaked" how the Assaults do damage. They really nerfed them. I am now swapping out my Assault for Hunter with a .6m wide bore rifle. I hope they don't further nerf Hunters. Or maybe that's their plan. Nerf the "regular" survivors so you want the Heroes. Hmmmmm...

Hmm...interesting. To be candid, I try to always use Abraham in lead slot with another Assault, and they seem to mow down everything just fine. I think they want us to use Bitch-Nuts, and I abide, lol

I did not notice assault doing worse but i did definitely notice increased bodyshots against walkers on the same lvl as me which is 19th. That applies to all that shoots.

All classes have been gettin progressively weaker building towards the release of heroes. Even some weapons saw a tweak due to possible "overpowered" effects when used with Daryl. Wether or not you use the heroes (or are lucky enough to save up for them) isn't as much the focus as it is to make sure that if/when you do use the leader traits to your advantage that it doesn't give your team an "overpowered advantage". Just imagine how strong assaults were before, then add bitchnuts? I'd only ever play with assaults at that point.

But basically, yes. If you want your survivors to pack their old punch, you will need the appropriate leader trait to supplement the strength your survivors used to have. For now, please enjoy your visual glitch!

    TheMurphy said:

They don't Nerfed assault class, just weapons trait and survivors/heroes traits "changed", now you need do more attention about traits and how they working.
By the way my assault lvl 19 legendary with max out lvl 21 weapons can stunt lvl 25 walkers, also can kills lvl 21 with one shoot standing in overwatch.
Basically if you use bitch nuts on all spawning walkers of your lvl or lil' more, you will always body shoot and stunts all the horde, if you use assault like first.
With assault and 2 hunters I was able to kill my first lvl 28 walkers, in the exploring mission, where you're able to fire through wire, obviously with power attack and multiple shoots.

So traits have heavy impact on gameplay, forget about doge trait on Abraham, seems to working only bullet doge instead. But someone are more powerful shooting from standing stance, otherwise someone else, performing a moving shoot can do more damage then simply standing and fire.

Also I noticed how totals damage value are changing between same level and class survivors/heroes, you can test yourself by swapping the same weapon through the same lvl survivors. Noticed even discrepancies on levels upgrade costs for same level and rarity survivors class. Still don't understand why, maybe depending on how was their max level reachable or if 'cause someone was max out.

However it was announced from developer about traits change and how they will count more on characters gameplay.

I hope @etuu and @Teeceezy or @zbot can clarify better now, after discovering new characters traits and relatively weapons traits how it will work together?
Maybe we'll lucky and clarify us even about different cost for level's promotion of same kind of character?

In the meantime please stop to blame and flaming about nerfing character, have no sense before understand how to combine traits to get best results in order to find the best damage power applied to ours survivors .

I have to disagree. The same survivor with the same weapon and traits is not as effective from one week to the next. That's nerfing in my book.
