Challenges - Gas Cost Vs. Stars Earned

I have been playing the challenges since they started. In the beginning, it is easy to accumulate stars quickly as the gas cost is low. As the challenge progresses, collecting stars becomes a pain as the gas cost increases considerably. NG should seriously think of either increasing the number of stars earned on higher levels or keeping the gas cost static.

    All about $$
Next challenge I will play totally free. I mean without buying gas and I want to see how many stars I get.

    @Amiga ,
I'm doin' this in this week challenge. With a lot of effort and time of course I'll hit the 310 later today.
My opinion is that it is totally impossible to make much more than that without spending gold for gas or purchase the gas booster (which I do not while I'm refusing to spend real money).

Lab Rats Group A & B agree that this is a serious issue that is prevents us from the contentment required to press the purty Buy button.

The question is... is it worth to care about other players stars? I stopped and now I'm playing for fun :) it doesn't make sense to compare with players who buys boosters ect

I got up to 336 this week without purchasing gas. Played around 10 exploration missions on Monday/Tuesday too.

I searched to see if there was a thread on this. Glad I found it. The gas cost for grinding out crap rewards is insane. If anyone can explain the logic behind it, I'd love to hear the spin. There's absolutely no way I'd buy a 16hr gas booster (because I do get my 8hrs) for the challenges to get around this "ftp" bitch slap.

Never mind the logic of it, the grind on challenges is to be significantly reduced according to the officials. I think in update 2.2 (the one coming of the one that's now almost due). Whatever the logic was in the past, it has changed now.

I usually get to 280+ totally free. Some weeks I have more time and get 320+ totally free.

Which I don't like because at 320 I am not challenged. I want to go higher but run out on the gas/time combination.
    Back from 2016 :p

It's not so much how many stars, but rather the tiered cost of achieving those stars. We all want to contribute to our guilds and the challenge is key in doing so. They're revamping the grind and that's desperately needed, but with every other mission in the game maxed at 6 gas, the new and improved version won't be so great if we can only run 2 missions at a time.

I really hope this is true and that the gas exploitation is removed. We shall see.

    Can't wait to see.
Especially since developers seem to really want to listen to the player base as much as possible.

Im interested in how they will implement.
How do you remove the grind of all the low levels, but still let people get the 300* from those missions?

Or will it still be a grind through the missions, but all the walkers start at your survivor level?

    I ask @Shteevie a similar question @blynknz
    Sadly.. I didn't get a response..
I'm really curious to see how it's going to affect us

I don't buy gas or anything since the silly zillion token system went into effect

I have to wait 10 minutes for one gas, so 70 minutes for 7 gas, etc

It has cut my play time down considerably

I used to buy gas and weapons.

I feel since saviors and walkers can't go above level 30,the price of fuel should stay the same once you hit that level. There's obviously an issue with fuel pricing as it is costing me 18 cans per attack. It gets old.

7 Gas for suggested Walker Lvl 17 in Challenges
& it just gets worse from there..
I always have a hard time wrapping my head around this!

@Teeceezy .. Will a max 6 Gas ever be in our future for Challenges? Pleeease?!?!?

    Or @Shteevie or @OldGoth ?

370* without gas booster or spending money for gasrefill is easily achievable with lvl19 survivors.

Or give us bigger gas tanks and let our fuel from crates stack when using unlimited fuel. There needs to be an update somewhere on the fuel system.

    Thanks @Shteevie
It makes sense to cap the gas costs in challenge missions (at 6 or maybe 7) since the rewards are capped at lvl 19 recommended.

I'm in a casual guild and we don't chase stars. Once the missions start costing 6 Gas, it makes no sense to continue Challenge Missions. The Exploration Misssions give a much better return per unit of gas. You can open up a bunch of better crates with Exploration. Missions instead.

I hope the gas issue is rectified. I truly do. If a single mission is going to cost 10 gas, then our car upgrades should also be done in 10's instead of singles. Upgrading the car for a whopping 2 cans isn't going to get you anywhere in the grand scheme of things.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying I expect an additional 10 cans of gas on an upgrade. That was simply an example of the imbalance. That's it. Not trying to go OPEC here.

While I agree, given the limited rewards, I still see 7 as being high. I still don't understand why there are single star weapons at all. That's just garbage in/garbage out.

Maybe NG should make a extra challenge that test skills and power and not gas boosters or gold to gas tanks allowed. The Real Deal Holyfield type event. Each mission like the outpost with 2 gals a mission or increase by two gals up to 22 after each cycle. Could be another way to rate guilds.

Perhaps NG could increase the amount of 2 person missions and supply a tandem on which to get to them?
In a normal world, that would be zero gas, but I'm not so sure in a world where a crossbow needs a silencer.......
