State of the shooter

Since this weekend event is shooter related, can anyone share their thoughts on the state of shooter survivor, armor and weapons traits ? Almost maxed player but 2.2 has made us all newbies again.

My understanding is that weapon needs gold range and that luck is to be avoided in any way shape or form. The rest...

Wrestler, HP boost, or body shot? Seriously? Those are probably the three worst armor traits.

I'm a big fan of silver iron skin, gold stun resist, and gold dodge in all of my armors. Iron skin goes a LOT farther than health boost.

In terms of weapons, Luck doesn't necessarily need to be avoided. Especially for a Shooter, Luck will still have a non-negligible impact on traits such as Dodge and Stun Resist.

    My ideal shooter:
    - Survivor: Luck, Dodge, Bullet Dodge, Marksman, Sure Shot
    - Weapon: Interrupt, Extended Range, Luck
    - Armor: Iron Skin, Stun Resistance, Dodge

@JayZ ... you still bet on Luck and Interrupt? Otherwise I fully copy your choices ... especially stun resistance ...

My shooter still uses interrupt...haven't had opportunity to get new gear yet. It is still absolutely useful through +3 levels above your survivors.

@_NoName Yeah, I still do. I mostly use them for Outposts, and here's why. Let's say my Shooter has 15% Luck as a survivor trait.

Without Luck on my weapon, I would have at most 86% Stun Resistance and 34.5% Dodge. With Luck, I get 97% Stun Resistance and 39% Dodge, which is definitely worth it to me.

For Interrupt, I've found it to be super handy when the starting area is stacked with Fatties/Armored zombies. I can usually stun the Armored zombies with my Bruiser, interrupt the Fatties with my Shooter, and clear everything else with my Hunter.

Hijacking your thread a bit here  I have this collection of Shooter weapons, but I'm not sure which. My survivors are lvl 15 (I don't level that fast, so these weapons won't be useless pretty soon).

I'm considering the leg 13 in the botten, or the epic 14 in the right upper corner. Any advise?

I think people should be saving their tokens regardless of what might be perfect traits currently. . The buffdate is supposedly coming soon and who knows what's going to be good traits 2 months from now .. they are still supposed to be boosting vigilant

I would upgrade the epic 14 in the right upper corner. The interrupt change only affects walkers 3+ levels higher than your survivor and luck is always good but not the exceptional trait it used to be. I am by no means a power player and don't work out the math like some of the better players do but I have a level 50 council and have been playing for over 10 months so take the advice as you see fit.

Yes, epic 14 Sheriff upper right looks good. If your shooter has at least 10% luck then your interrupt would be 96%, pretty reliable

If it helps you at all, here's the damage these weapons would have if fully upgraded:

    Legendary commander base 13, upgraded 16 = 457
    Epic base 14/17 = 511
    Epic base 15/18 = 607

If you're not squeamish about the short range, the lvl 15 sheriff will do nice damage and the silver destructive trait adds noticeably to crit hits. The gold hi-power makes the gun much more versatile overall though. Can do long range sniping as well as defensive interrupts

    @JayZ @Marcus6253 Thanks guys!

I realize GreySeer wouldn't be able to use it yet, but let's pretend for a moment. ..

The level 17 Rare with interrupt & piercing; wouldn't that be upgradeworthy even if rare?

(@GreySeer I'm not suggesting you do this bc by the time your shooters are L17 you'll likely have way better stuff to chose from)

I'm curious as to what people think of mid level players upgrading rare equip when it has great traits & that person isn't "racing to the finish line" (If it's any help to you GreySeer, I really regret spending $ to get through those levels faster... )

@DoTak Thanks for this detailed reply! I think I will go with the 14/17 for now because I do like the range. And my Shooters have 10-12-15% luck (see ss), so that should work out :)

I did intentionally keep that Rare 17 because I liked the traits, and it is a back-up in case nothing better comes along.

And I do have my moments that I want to race, but that usually translates into € for gas boosters and occasionally a bundle.

I enjoy the build of survivors. I even took in 2 rare survivors with three great traits and just started upgrading them (and got lucky on their 4ths). And I don't mind the grinding.

An all time favorite weapon trait for a pistol is the increased critical damage, because you can charge the shooter to a critical attack every second round.

I would take all of @JayZ 's ideal shooter but give him crit damage instead of interrupt on the pistol now after the update.

I agree with interrupt being still very useful up to a point. Works wonders in outposts.

But I feel that critical and damage boosting traits on the survivor and weapons seem now better than what luck brings to the table.

I won't be in any rsl30 missions anytime soon. Outposts has become a grab and run mission.

Shooters with their added range usually manage to get in more shots before needing to dodge. Often they can stay at a distance and stationary which benefits powers trike ( ranged version ).

Grinding without any clear path is really putting a spotlight on how repetitive and senseless this can become. Still having fun but feeling more and more like a mindless lab rat.

I remember when I was mid lvl, my best hunter rifle was a fully upgraded rare. I upgraded it because back then, I couldn't find anything better and felt I needed to improve the base model for more punch. I ended up using that rifle for quite some time before the proper level epics and finally legendaries started showing up.

So yeah, as a low to mid lvl player, I would upgrade a rare with decent traits if nothing better was coming along.
