Seeing as how I'm one to criticize when things aren't right it's only fair to praise you when it's deserved...so thank you for your actions!! You've made the vast majority of people playing feel much better and now I can go back in my hole until I'm needed again!!

In the 80s when i was really young i was used to play games in the pubs the whole day ..insert coin, play, game over.. It was usual to discover bugs, i still remember those i've found in Ghosts & Goblins... the owners of the pubs knew that but nobody was upset and of course no one was "banned" from a pub...
I haven't been banned and i have not used the bug to gain stars in my guild ...this week i've stopped to 370 stars when i'm used to play until 400... But i have to admit that i've tried to see if the bug was working. The bugs are part of the game !!!
All that to say that i don't agree with the bans i've heard...
Oh well... After that it will be fun to discover that i've been banned!!!

And Capi, I think the standards we set on separating 'intentional' exploits from 'accidental' ones are more lenient than I would have chosen were it just me, so I'd be very surprised to find out a stand-up rodent like yourself would have been caught up in all of this.
Fairness and leaderboards are important. Everyone will have their own subjective opinions, but we try to be as even and consistent as we can. Even in mistakes, you can try to improve.
Please note: Development is a fluid process, and suggestions and implementation take time and iteration. Any discussion of future features, deadlines, updates, balance changes, and such should be considered prospective and subject to change.

I only don't agree with bans. What when a player earned 100 stars cheating when he earned 20.000 before without cheating??

We play outposts and when/if it times out and we have to reload we are still in the outpost but lose 2-3 minutes time but this isn't an exploit.
We play season 7 missions and when/if it times out and we have to reload we are still in the season 7 mission so this isn't an exploit.
We play scavenger missions and when/if it times out and we have to reload we are still in the scavenger mission so this isn't an exploit.
We play challenges and when/if it times out and we have to reload we are brought back to our camp so this is an exploit.
I looked up the definition of an exploit and found that it's "a software tool designed to take advantage of a flaw in a computer system, typically for malicious purposes such as installing malware." Source here.
Were people using any types of software tools? Was NG made aware of the issue right away and immediately condemned using it? How long was this issue going on and are only people who used it this past week being punished?
This isn't an attempt to rationalize cheating but if the game didn't want players to go back to their camp after having to restart the app (as has been a huge issue for many players in outposts for a long time) then it shouldn't allow players to go back to the camp after having to restart the app. None of the others areas of the game restart at camp... but if a challenge map allows it to happen it's considered an exploit?
Part VII section (d) of the terms of use advises "exploit the Service in any unauthorized way whatsoever, including without limitation, by trespass or burdening network capacity" I would think if being brought back to the camp was "unauthorized" by NG then it wouldn't happen.

I'd rather have seen the challenge stars unfairly earned removed from the records. That still might hurt some guilds in a way but not like that...

I agree that it sucks that guilds and honest players were hurt by this indirectly
On the flip side what does it say about the people doing it that they would risk trouble for their guild and friends?
I'm retired but I still chat with my guild every day and would never do anything to adversely affect their gameplay

if everybody that used the bug is punished, okay. if only the people that somebody pointed out were punished, thats where the issue comes in. hopefully the device used to find out who abused the bug was a little more sophisticated than word of mouth.

So is that fair. Is that cheating? He used what he had in front of him. He didn't try and damage the cards. He didn't try and look at other players cards.
Thats actually a bug with the Casino. They need to go back and fix the bug so that doesn't happen in the future,
