This glitch has been used for months, it wasn't used this week by certain guilds because it was exposed. So they stayed low. Do the math from 440+ with half hour waits. Then do the math of how much time it would take to 1star up to 640+ (Also you have to add the time speant on maps and the 20-1 odds for getting the correct spawn) not saying its impossible. But very unlikely. We'll definitely see now once its patched who was using and who wasn't. The bans we're looked at by last week, and last week only. I wonder how many bans would take place if it was investigated further. Getting only 8k stars when you surpassed that EVERY WEEK only made you stand out. Hope its done, and over with but i hope this is looked into further.
-Sorry, but this is over the line for me. We responded to communication from the players asking if we were aware of the issue. We said that the were looking into it, and would take action if we felt it was necessary. We didn't have enough information to say for sure that there were going to be temp. bans, or that we would even be taking any action at all. I gave the same responses to players who asked me the same questions in my forums inbox.
To imply that we tipped people off to tell them that there would be actions taken, or that we wanted some players to know that we would exclude them from the corrective actions, frankly, is bunk. Saying that because you are angry and want to make us look bad or cast suspicion is not doing you any favors.
We looked at all uses of the exploit going back to the very first use, and we considered the use of the exploit over that whole time. We didn't only look at last week, and we didn't only look at the players or guilds that were openly bragging about using the exploit. Players who were included in the corrective action could not have been doing so accidentally or 'organically', and did so far more often than was needed to 'confirm that it worked'.
As to the reckoning issue, we made the change less than 4 hours after we became aware of the bug. Not weeks. We don't have favorites, and no one gets free passes or inside information that would allow them to prosper in the game. We are near the end of a playtest effort, and if anyone in that group is found to have been keeping exploitable secrets from us, they will be affected just like anyone else. [I'm not saying that as a threat; I would expect that they are aware of the provisions of their NDA and our opinion on the issue.]
I understand that the limited communication that we give is frustrating for some people, but it is all done with a reason. I admit we have work to do to convince some people that we're not standing against their desires to have a great game. That isn't done in an instant, but I'm willing to keep at it for as long as it takes. Committing to fairness and working for the best result for everyone is a big part of that.

@Pic our score wasn't as high as usual last week because there were no easy repeatable maps. There were 2, but they took way too much time and gold to do so we didn't fool with it. Same as this week, should be no repeats. Every challenge map before had 1-4 repeatable maps. In case you haven't noticed, they are actively trying go to get rid of repeatable maps. So of course our score will drop as we are a team that repeats. This is common sense. Repeatable maps = higher star count. Most people aren't willing to spend the time on it or simply don't know how to do it. And those people call foul. Wrestle trait is not an exploit or it wouldn't be a trait offered to every single player on their armor. So figure out for yourself how to play the game better if you want a higher score.
> @SlickRick said: > Start your own thread or go in your private subforum circle jerk if you guys want to bash them over and over or try to rationalize things in your own head...I have my issues with them of course but they did the right thing here and deserve credit for it
Nice to see Mr. Positive nice guy take time off from his own circle jerk to come back to forum long enough to be a dick to people. Just like old times.
@Pic - I started playing NML because I played I played Boom Beach with a founding member of Trinity and he hounded me to come play NML. I played with Trinity from February to October and personally still consider them family. In October I left Trinity because promotions to their main guild were not completely based on stars. (I had one week where real life came before the game and it seemed I couldn't regain their trust). Water under the bridge, still have love for that group.
Anyways I ended up joining DTP family 100% because promotions are based on stars only. What I have learned there is DTP leadership are real sticklers for the rules, much more so then I personally am but I abide by all their rules. These top players like @Amazayn make videos showing exactly how they are repeating levels. Not just one, but sometimes many videos... so you ask how can they get 600 stars without cheating? I know exactly how... they buy unlimited gas daily, they set timers when the 30 minute cool down happens, then they beat the level with wrestler trait (which takes a whole lot of skill). They appear to sleep in 30 minute increments... their dedication to this game is at such a higher level than mine is. I rarely buy gas, I'm going to sleep at night, I'm not ever going to be able to take my game to their level. So how can great players like @Amazayn and @Terminates and etc get that many stars??? They are literally better than you. And way better than me.
And one last thing regarding the glitch. DTP found out about it when that first dude made a forum post this last challenge. The few that knew about it basically refused to let others know because the guilds policy was it was cheating and they weren't going to take part. It wasnt even open for debate. I personally feel NG shouldn't be able to punish for doing something that they allowed in their code, but that's just my opinion.
In conclusion - your claims against DTP are simply false. They are the top guild because a lot of top players gravitate towards them. Trinity has members that are just as good as DTPs top members but it's a numbers thing and DTP just has more top members.
@Shteevie Thanks for the response and i am truly sorry if i offended you. Honestly, i just hope the glitch has been fixed and that everyone has a fair shot at a leaderboard challenge. I did the wrong thing and i accept the punishment, i just hope next week we can look forward from this and have a straight-up, fair, leaderboard challenge.
@SlickRick@Shteevie Could you tell me what the bug was? I have friends who always make 430 to 440 stars per challenge and do not know why they are blocked.
I haven't discussed it with anyone per the DTP rules (let alone my own) on unethical gameplay...case in point I wouldn't even tell my own brother...not that he would ever do it because we both roll the same way
I know a lot of people are curious...but trust me you're better off not knowing...and you're not missing anything
Games are designed to be fun and an escape from the real world for a brief moment...resorting to that sort of stuff runs completely counter to that imo
I apologize if I was harsh...I started this thread to echo the sentiments of 99% of the players who were happy that NG finally did the right thing...to see it devolve into a bunch of children trying to rationalize and deflect their own guilt made me sick...reminded me of my neighbor's 8-year old daughter when she is caught doing something wrong and makes excuse after excuse before she finally goes into timeout...but I will take the blame because I should have half expected this sort of petulant behavior when I started this thread...so again I apologize
You better check yo self before you wreck yo self...cuz I'm bad for your health, I come real stealth
Yes there are lots "Better then me" I still stand by my thoughts. But I won't go into any further based on fear of being "blocked" "banned" and or "bashed" maybe a combination of all three. Indeed I can do repeats, using the wrestling trait to continue to do one star increments. I don't have the time. Nor do i have the patience. I will continue to believe this based on strict belief. The math is possible, but like i said unlikely. Show me on the leaderboard once this is patched. Lots believe this I'm not the only one, I am just the one speaking up. Cheers
I think much of the recent actions by NG would not have caused any player issues/angst had they just said publicly they were aware of the bug and said that people should not exploit it.
hey everyone, i would like to show my map and took an SS with the date and SS my outpost record. as you can see, i don't raid. i also have the time frame when i took the SS to the battle reports.
btw using wrestler trait isn't easy, it is expensive and time consuming. 1 star can go from first attempt to 100 attempts. and everyone, please act like an adult. it was your judgment and action that led you to this. don't flame your other peers. thanks.

-It's not always easy to write posts like that, and I respect you for stepping up. I really do hope you come back after the week off energized and ready to help your guild do their best in the new system. Keep playing and supporting others in a positive way, and I assure you we'll both have more fun and be happier in the long run. Apology wholly accepted, and I hope we talk more soon as friends and not adversaries.
I think much of the recent actions by NG would not have caused any player issues/angst had they just said publicly they were aware of the bug and said that people should not exploit it.
- I agree with this; but it is an important point that saying something this vague may have caused a lot of name-and-blame, finger-pointing, and private messages of accusations and 'tattling', for lack of a better word. I am glad that we had the tools to analyse and solve the issue quickly, but I also know that we need to be extremely confident when we take action lest we make a small mistake bigger.

I do like you but really... don't apologize if the apology isn't an apology at all. This just adds more insults even if it's not name calling.
The current tone in the forum has been very hostile and I think we can all do better than that.
We can disagree with each other without the personal attacks (that goes for everyone, of course).

Yes, the way it was ultimately handled was much better. No name-and-blame, finger-pointing, or PMs of accusations and "tattling." As for solving it quickly, what is the official definition? One month? Several weeks?
You "had a blast" using the exploit but it wasn't because of the free stars? Horse poop. Is there some other mystical effect from the cheat aside from free stars that I'm not aware of?
All this dissembling to justify cheating because it was "more fun" is ridiculous.
@Mabiki if someone did it on a day that challenge missions were only one gas each; someone could then play any aspect of the game with that gas cost such as scavenger and story missions.
Edit* I agree though using it as a substitute to a $2 unlimited gas is hardly a justifiable reason but that was another feature that was discovered.

You act like while we were doing the glitch we were chanting #1 or something of that nature. When in all honesty were just laughing at how stupidly easy it was to boost rewards with no mission cooldown. I personally had 921 stars coming out of the cooldown event and i ended the week with 921 stars also. I also sent Zbot the video i made and shared to my guild of how to do it so he would see the steps and it could be fixed. I saw the players reacting negatively and then when players started smashing the cheaters on FB, and even wanted to tag me in the post. I didnt sit and hide in the corner, i actually came out and made a comment. Apologizing even, because as a competitive player i felt the weight of my actions and how they just affected the community in a horrible way. I believe Vicky from DTP asked after my apology why were my guild members still doing it and i never got a chance to respond. It wasnt that they were still doing it. They were filling in the other missions they hadnt used the glitch on. Anyways im thankful to NG for only banning me a week and again i do apologize to anyone who really was affected by our exploiting the game. Josh MAVERICKS OG
@DLich Fair enough. I suppose being able to play at reduced gas cost is more fun, but it's not like it changes the actual content of any mission, so the argument falls flat for me.
@cmyx4bj I personally don't care one whit about stars or leaderboards. The only thing that was different is exploiters were getting more for less. I have no dog in the fight, other than I think it's disingenuous to act like the exploit changed anything other than that. Basically you're saying it was fun to game the system and get something for nothing.it certainly didnt make maps or any other game content different than what was there before the exploit.
the extra XP bug - nobody was banned. the Back Dumpster bug - nobody was banned. the Star bug - bans
if everybody that used the bug is punished, okay. if only the people that somebody pointed out were punished, thats where the issue comes in. hopefully the device used to find out who abused the bug was a little more sophisticated than word of mouth.
NG didn't ban because no money was involved in the first two and big bucks were involved in the last one so it banned.
Some players calling the outpost exploit cheating. Every game has bugs/ exploits which certain players exploit. I would not classify playing the outposts and earning stars as cheating.
I was apologizing (although I get why you think otherwise)...I was just trying to explain to @Survivor420 why I went off the way I did after the thread went the complete opposite direction...either way just wanted to explain to you before I go back in my hole
While I don't agree with everything you said per se I do respect that you owned up to your actions and apologized for it...I think people will respect you for that far more than the ones trying to blame anything and everything else for what they did...so props
