Challange makes me play RSL -1 lvl 3 times

My best survivors are at lvl 18, I started the challange at RSL 13. The new challange makes me play lvl 17 3 times. I thought that it will only happen at lvl 18 first. Was this intended? Is this a bug? Even @DLich's table shows I should've completed lvl 17 in one round (http://forums.nextgames.com/walkingdead/discussion/22538/what-to-expect-when-youre-expecting#latest).

@szgerg77 are you sure it was RSL 13 not 12? It should've been 18-6=12.

He admitted his chart was wrong for early players. I think you play -1 RSL 3X no matter what (eg, I'm maxed and should be playing RSL 19 3X)

@szgerg77 yes starting RSL -1 you would repeat 3x.

Why? It will let you earn more stars (and therefore more rewards) before you hit a wall. The only downside I can see is that the gear drops from the -1 RSL will be one less than what you use, but the other rewards overall should make up for that!

My max survivor level is also 18 an i started the challenge with level 13 walkers. Is it supposed to be rsl-5 or rsl-6?

Yeah guys I'm sorry. I gathered data from 14 and 15 play throughs in beta and assumed it was the same premise across the board. I'm asking players to post in my thread if they are lower than RSL 14 starting.

So far I've heard 10 start triples at 13 (3 single rounds) and RSL 1 start triples at 2 (1 single round) and 12 start triples at 16 (4 single rounds)

this is good for lower levels cause you'd sacrifice 1 star on the "bonus" but get to replay a lower RSL multiple times.

RSL 14 and 15 both had 5 single rounds before going into triple. It was assumed this rule worked across the board for every RSL. Sorry about that everyone. As I get more data I'll update it :)

What does it mean "triple round", how it works? Can somebody explain please?
  • jeffstasykjeffstasyk Member Posts: 162
The triple round means u play that level 3x before going to the next number...for me I have lvl 17 survivors...

I started at lvl 12 difficulty...this is what I have played so far...
    12
    13
    14
    15
    16
    16.1
    16.2
    17
    17.1
    17.2-currently here....

So based on where your team is u will start playing each numerical round 3x instead of just going from 16 to 17 to 18...I played 16 3x in row...where it gets slightly harder each time....it allows to play more...cuz if they didn't do this I would already be done with the challenge on day 1 once I got to like lvl 19 difficulty...

@Domiq1 you play the the same RSL 3 times for stars and bonus star.

For players that start at RSL 14, the repeat starts from RSL 19.

So at RSL 19 you can get a total of 3 stars times 6 missions plus 19 bonus stars and this needs to be repeated 3 times to advance to RSL 20. This process keeps repeating as you advance.

    It's actually 70% of the level of your 3 highest survivors. His being 18 means 18 x 0.7 = 12.6, rounded up to 13.

Thanks @kryptonix , this is what I get for using level 20 survivors as baseline.

I'm my survivors are all lvl 19 and I got 2 pink stars not sure if it affects it.

    13 20
    14 20.3
    15 20.6
    16 21
    17 21.3
    18 21.6
    18.3 22
    18.6 22.3
    19 22.6 (currently here)

My survivors have lvl 18 legendaries right now. I'm at 709 stars once I finish 22 6 I will be at 735. I predict to be able to reach around 836 that's when I should be fighting level 24 walkers.

With this all counted I should be 139 stars ahead of anyone that started at RSL 14 and is exactly at the same spot I am.

i find the notion ludicrous that you would want fewer possible rewards in the name of fun. it's just another 24 gas to climb to the next difficulty tier. meanwhile you get bonus chances at legendary gear and more tokens...

Is it correct that from RSL23 on you have to play each LVL 4 times?
  • feracolyteferacolyte Member Posts: 163
i mean to each their own i guess but the old challenges requires a much longer grind (see 17+rounds) to get to a reasonable difficulty and basically no rewards aside from a handful of tg and phones. and for me at least once i reached level 26 fatties and armored walkers i'd just have to stop or else risk facing lots of hospital time and wasted gas.

i welcome the chance to hang out at rsl22-24 and get a few more rewards. the gas costs are pretty generous too

@gespuer RSL 26 and on I believe. Unless it's lower for starting RSL's before 14

I was in beta testers team but I don't thinking how many rounds what RLS I have to play. I'm just enjoying it as it is.
.why to think about it deeply?? ;)
    Just play and have fun...

    > If you're about to finish the challange at about RSL+3 lvl the new system is just the same grind demanding as the old was. (And the old was terrible for me). Sure, the rewards are better, but it still takes the same amount of rounds to get to the point where you actually need to think about tactics and team members. This also means that you're never going to have the time to reach the end if you actually have a life. Rewards are important because the game is designed that you need a lot of resource to improve, but getting rewards themselves can't be the goal of the game. Not for me at least. Hope it helped you not to find it that ludicrous.

all good points... i think this challenge is particularly tough for most people because of the map selection and the tendency for flaming walkers to bruise careless survivors.

you're right that it's still a whole lot of time and gas for people who just want to go for RSL25+. in previous challenges i would just play 1-2 mission to RSL25 and push as far as i could on it so it, but now that's not an option since you can't advance without completing all missions.

on the other hand, loving the chance to score some tokens every 120 stars or so

i wonder if there will ever be a nightmare mode for scavenges where you can just start at RSL25 for the scavenge maps

I am interested to see @Dlich's updated chart at the end of the challenge.
If everyone is able to play to the same level (lets say RSL +3), then who is better off. High, med or Low players.
