Wow you're going back to the old challenge style? That's just stupid. You wanted our opinion @Fearofabotplanet and the resounding answer was that Ultimate Challenge style is more efficient, interesting, fun, and less-tedious. I have no desire to continue with the old format and am completely disapointed in this decision. You found a way to make the game less boring finally and for some bizarre reason you aren't sticking with it? I literally see no benefit AT ALL in forcing us to grind it out weekly unless of course it hit your pocket book in a negative sense. Whatever. I was already getting bored with the game and this just makes it worse ten-fold.
> @marie1980 said: > Not everyone uses the forum, would have been a good idea to have a vote on the actual game itself, just an idea .
NG never held a vote anywhere. The vote (Poll) thread my mine, not NG's. I created it to help gain more feedback mainly to help players make a more informed opinion.
The forum is a way for NG to gain feedback from players and all players are welcome to join the forum and provide feedback.
The forum is the best place for players to be more informed about the game, therefore the best way for NG to gain good feedback from informed players.
Nevertheless, the Ultimate Challenge System was run for 1 week to gain feedback and I believe 'ALL' that feedback will be useful for NG to improve the game.
Whether you like the Ultimate Challenge format or not, it was clear that NG was testing out their ideas in a non-permanent fashion. Given that we have complained about many of their changes in the past, I appreciate that they did a test run for us, so that we could try out the new version and see it for ourselves. We found a few bgs, had some compliments, had some complaints. Now NG can go through our feedback and make any necessary tweaks, so that when they eventually do introduce a new challenge format, it will be even better.
Yes yes, we all agree ...but..for what reason we can't go on this challenge?? It will be a really big cooldown switching back to the old challenge...

Just as a suggestion, IF we have to return to a normal challenge next week, maybe in the short term, NG can reduce challenge mission gas costs so we can get through the early missions more quickly at least

The end of the year is a busy time for everyone, and the walkers of the post-post-apocalypse are no exception. They are coming at you tougher and tougher all the time, and they're not going to give you a second to rest. Cut out some of that winter grind and step up to what could be the most challenging Challenge ever!"
He mean to cut out winter grind only for 1 week??? Common NG. What is this??? The end of the year is a busy time for everyone. So please keep the new system atleast for this month. Please.................................................. Please NG!!!!!
Just so you are aware, I don't believe any changes that have happened in the game have ever been as a result of voting in forum.
The only Official voting in game was for a few weekend events & weapon for Rufus from memory.
Anyway, in reading some of your comments you appear not to have liked this weeks challenge. If you haven't read, the challenge is going back to the old system next challenge so you have nothing to worry about.
Firstly thanks for the quick answer @Fearofabotplanet to my earlier question. I really hope that you are collating feedback and looking to incorporate something very close to this challenge format, and very soon. Going back to the grind is going to feel terrible after this week. The problem I have with the current format is linked to the guild - namely that the challenge is the only thing that “contributes” to guild performance. The only thing you can do with/for your guild is get stars, the other game modes are irrelevant. Consequently, unless I get as many stars as I can (for me 1400-1500 average) I feel like I’m letting them down. For me, that means spending all of my free time grinding through boring easy levels. I run out of time without a gas event. I spend two days, between challenges, watching ads and saving gas, and 5 days using that gas playing easy levels. So I personally do not get much enjoyment from it - for a while I have been playing out of a sense of duty to the guild, and in the hope you would make changes to address the issues raised by so many here on this forum. Then along came the ultimate challenge, which got rid of so much grind, I actually got to the point where I was truly challenged - and it was great, reminded me of why I fell in love with this game. Then I was stuck, couldn’t progress further - so I played some other game modes, did a few outposts. It got me playing the whole game. Before, on the rare occasions I got to this point, I started saving gas, but this week I was thinking it was not as important, due to reduced gas requirements to play the challenge. We have lost two long-standing players from our guild recently through boredom with the game. I thought the ultimate challenge was going to help prevent others leaving - we really need some reassurance that you guys are going to address this quickly otherwise I’m sure that more will leave the game.
I seriously need the new challenge, with bugs and everything...i don't care of bugs. Old challenge is toooo boring, can't handle anymore...

I like you're comment about the only thing you can do as a guild is to get stars in challenge, I think it would be great to do more as a guild some how ,maybe something could be added to the distance .
Just a thought here about next week's challenge... We were told the ultimate challenge would just be for one week so NG could get data and feedback. With 2.9 dropping real soon (after next week's challenge, yeah?), it's possible that the challenge structure will be tweaked/changed. That said, this challenge structure should DEFINITELY made permanent. The weeks after an update are high time for folks quitting and I hope NG is able to communicate to those whose only gripe with this structure is star count that EVERYTHING IS PROPORTIONAL AND GETTING LESS STARS IS NOT WORSE WHEN IT IS THE RESULT OF A DIFFERENT SYSTEM. Players will quit if the challenge structure is not changed because of endless grind of boredom pointing and clicking. Players will not quit if the new structure is implemented and players are informed and communicated to by NG and their guild leaders/elders that under a different system, things will be different, not worse.
Yes, this means that you will need to wipe your personal bests away and start fresh. Trust me, this is perfectly okay. The goal should be to get to a higher difficulty than you have reached before with fewer dropped stars than before. If I got 3000 stars under a system that started at rsl2 and 500 stars that started at rsl25, I would be looking at the difficulty that my team got to and the amount of stars dropped as an indication that I am improving in strategy and strength of my survivors.
If you are worried about star count, please think outside of the box of the challenge structure. Guild minimums would change if the new structure were to be implemented and this is okay.
Although I am still playing the challenge, I feel now I can weigh-in with feedback on my playing experience on the ultimate challenge. And under the non-ultimate challenge I would play on Sunday too. So I am not finishing any faster under the ultimate challenge.
My Likes: the double guild rewards and more tokens. round passes earned sooner. Starting at higher level. Never received legendary gear in the challenge crates so I can’t comment on that.
My Dislikes: Starting at higher level. Under the non-ultimate format, I could have more rounds to earn supplies. And to say solution is to do scavenge missions is not really a solution for me. Scavenge is 6 gas, challenge is 5 gas, distance is 4 gas and I do not purchase gas boosters.
What I would like to see: I feel NML is not f2p friendly. The challenge in both non-ultimate and ultimate start at 4 gas, then jump to 5 gas. It would be more enjoyable to me for the gas hike to go away with in challenges and remain at 4 gas throughout. Perhaps I could finish sooner instead of waiting for 5 gas for maps? It would be nice if the issue of supplies were re-addressed for those not maxed and still upgrading camps without being told “do scavenge mission for supplies.”
I understand NG wants to take time to look through feedback, although heaven only knows why in the case of this, if we are just looking at providing a sustainable, enjoyable long term game model, the feedback has to be overwhelming in favour of the new challenge. I suspect the bottom line is, the monetary figures have to come in from the bean counters. I’m with Capy; I am sitting the next challenge out. Not that it makes much of a difference, but having seen something so much better, I just can’t take up the mantle of disappointment and tedium again.
The old challenge system is pay to play and boring. If you want a high score you must go through an endless easy grind just to get to challenging stages and pay for gas if you cannot play every second of the day. I work 60 hours a week and I managed to get to level 29-1 this week and had tons of fun. Now if I want to succeed I must use every spare moment of my day and spend money on gas during my weekend to catch up. Even then it will be hard to get to my limit. Please please please don’t make me go back to the boring awful tedious grind again. It’s NOT FUN!!! ITS BORING for goodness sake!!! This challenge was actually fun and didn’t take up my whole life. It is cruel to take it away again and ask me to go through a mind numbing grind! I need some free time in my life. If this is just a one time thing then I will be among the people leaving.
I wasn't bored this week or pressured to get stars while also playing the Distance on Saturday. I also had time to raid a bunch of times. So sad that's gonna change. I could never be in a top guild because I'm just not going to spend my spare time or precious money getting meaningless stars for lopsided rewards.
Write another chapter to the story mission for Pete's sake to break up the tedium. You create a new show episode each week. Cant see why you havent written another chapter in a year. That's just lazy IMO.
For the record, everyone in my guild who commented loved the shorter challenge format, and many got to higher levels than before with the extra time. The double rewards were great ,and I would love to see them continue. Even without double rewards, I would prefer this setup over the old one, and I think a lot of players would agree.
I can only speak for myself, while it appears others have the desire/ability to speak for all?
I normally avoid forum posting when it comes to context that matters, why? I’ll tell you. There are some self important (expletives) who love to take it upon themselves to either post, or private message, directly to people calling them names or saying “You know nobody agrees with you” “You have no idea what your talking about” one I recently got and loved was “You have your guild information in your signature, this is not a forum about recruiting, you need to remove that and only post about your guild in the recruitment forum. You have just tried to hijack this thread!”... So why do some of us stay in the dark and just read? Because to many “Not us” like to jump down our throats if we have not been here for 3 years!
How is this relevant to this thread?
Because in the messages in the game, I was asked to provide feedback.
Now to tell me the only way to provide feedback is through the forums is in complete opposition to what NG told me.
To tell me, aside from the star counters, everyone has shown they are fed up with the old system and prefer the new, is saying you have access to all the messages sent to NG through that button?
Ok, that’s all I am saying and someone will flame me for it, but we NEW this was a trial. As I read in earlier posts, anyone who threatens to quit because they go back to the old style, is how was it put here? Oh yeah! “Just looking for an excuse to quit”

Well it took a lot to bring me out of lurker paradise, but I just had to show my reaction to finding myself back in the horrible slog...
Not super representative, but I think it indicates that most of us like the new format and would like it to stay.

*edit to add
There has NOT been any official vote on this challenge format. Any voting or poles you've seen are conducted by players or guilds.
Fair enough. Sounds wonderful but unlikely.
