Father Gabriel
Hi all,
can anyone tell me how his leader trait works?
It grants x% dodge and increases luckbased skills by y%.
A survivor that does not have dodge, will get x% dodge and his luckbased skills (including dodge) are affected by y%.
A survivor that already has dodge...
a.) will get its dodge affected by x% dodge and his luckbased skills (including dodge) are affected by y%
b.) will get no bonus on its dodge and his luckbased skills (including dodge) are affected by y%
The question comes down to the wording "grants" vs "increases".
As I understand this, the dodge bonus does nothing if a survivor already has dodge.
The luck bonus is applied to all luckbased traits.

If a survivor has dodge, and their armor has dodge and gabriel is in the leader position it should add to dodge.
If a survivor has luck, and their weapon has luck then luck should add also.
Example
Survivor has 20% dodge on themselves as well as 20% dodge on armor = 40% dodge
Survivor has 20% luck on themselves as well as 20% luck on weapon = 40% luck.
Now, I don't have gabriel unlocked so I'm not sure what percentages he's offerring but...
If gabriel grants 10% dodge and increases luck based skills by 10% then.
You'd have 50% dodge and 50% luck. The luck should increase the dodge by an additional 25% to 75% dodge total.
40% of 40% (what your survivor has normally) is 16% added for a total of 56% dodge
Gabriel should bring that dodge to 75% (in theory)

Went into a outpost that give out low TG.
So I got up against lvl 6 walkers.
I've let my assault get hit 100 times
60 of those hits got dodged.
My assault has 20% luck, there is 16% dodge on the survivor, there is 15% dodge on the armor.
Father Gabriel has 10% dodge, and 16% "Luck"
So Dodge = 16 + 15 + 10 = 41%
Luck = 20 + 16 = 36%
41% * 136% / 100% = 56%
In my (small) sample I found 60%.
I think it is fair to say that @Dlich has guessed it right.
It would be my guess too.
369 hits on a survivor with dodge.
tldr.
Father Gabriel is even better.
The luck from Gabriel seems to be calculated after (or before) when luck get's calculated.
2 times a "luck"% increase (1 time for luck, one time for Gabriel) is better than one! (it's not much though...)
It seems like Father Gabriel his chance is NOT luck.
It basically behaves similar to luck. But it is not added to the luck percentage.
In stead, you get another calculation in the end. Just like luck.
Example:
Sum of Dodge = D
Sum of Luck / 100%= L
Gabriel Luck / 100%= G
Dodge% = D * (1 + L) * (1 + G)
not
Dodge% = D * (1 + L + G)40% Dodge
38% Luck
16% Father Gabriel "Luck"
You'd think:
40% * 154% / 100% = 62%
But Actually it is:
40% * 138% / 100% * 116% / 100% = 64%
I am not 100% sure this is the exact explanation.
But it does explain why dodge seems (after 469 hits) to happen more than initially expected by just adding Gabriel's trait to Luck.
Or is 469 hits to small a Sample @Shteevie ?
> Not dodging anything 5+ lvls above =(
True but it can turn crits into body shots which can mean the difference between staying a survivor or becoming a walker.
> Father Gabriel can go get back on that rock we found him on in the first place
Why?
Traits like swift-strike and charging can profit very much.
Choosing silver anti-stun, threat reduction etc.. on armor can become a much easier choice.
etc.
Question remains if Gabriel is a great survivor himself.
Can he pack the punch or take the beating?
A 3 star (level 3) Gabriel has 10% dodge and 16% "lucky".
The numbers are much higher than in above picture.
I also think Gabriel's trait isn't correctly described in that image.

The only thing that happens, you can't dodge critical attacks.
Critical attacks become normal attacks, when dodge kicks in.
While you can't prevent the damage completely, at least you can turn critical attacks in normal ones.
Still valuable in high level play for me.
