Episode Discussion Threads?

TeeceezyTeeceezy Staff Posts: 3,577
So we've been thinking about Season 6b of TWD and were wondering how the forum community would feel about episode discussion threads. My thought is that after the show has aired in Europe (on Monday nights local time), a thread would pop up in General Discussion about this new episode on about Tuesday morning (again, local time Europe).

So before going ahead with this, I'd like you guys to answer this question. Should we have (clearly **SPOILER** marked) Episode Discussion Threads after everyone has had the chance to watch it?

Episode Discussion Threads? 111 votes

Yes, I'd love to talk about new episodes on the forums.

No, I'd rather focus on the game and not talk about new episodes here.

"Should we have Episode Discussion Threads AFTER everyone has had the chance to watch it?"

how do we know everyone already watch it? i vote yes for everyone's satisfaction..

Key words: "had the chance". The episode airs on Sunday nights in North America (and Australia?) and on Monday nights in Europe, so this is presuming everybody who may want to watch new episodes asap have had the chance to do so. If someone would like to watch it at some later point in time, then they shouldn't open the discussion thread.

I usually watch on Monday. Episode 10 was awesome :) back to roots. Good old Walking Dead.
Is it spoiler?? I don't think so

@Teeceezy im an avid reader of the comics/graphic novels (whatever you consider them) and the show , so i dont know how valid my opinion is considering it would be hard to spoil it for me unless you have inside knowledge....buuuuut long comment made short , i dont see a problem as long as its clearly marked spoilers inside.

Awesome of you guys to have a poll as well.

So basically, you're saying, we can have spoiler discussion by tueaday? Because by that time, everyone has had the chance to see the show..

  • Why dont add a category "TV Episode discussion - WARNING: may contain spoilers".

So nobody can accidently get infos on who killed whom or who is in love with whom (last one is much more interesting imho) if she just wanted to get the latest game infos.

In this category significant spoilers should still be marked as

spoilers. Guess who had sex... hihihi

Agree. Discussion for people already watched last episode otherwise no point to enter here. Then there will be no need to play with spoilers

Well I think my views are clear.
I don't think you have to wait till the Monday, as people watch it they can jump into it.

I think each episode should have its own thread so it keeps it all clean

    Hey @DrBOB, what's your view

For me it goes both ways, so I didn't vote. Basically saying "whatever" and there was no such alternative. :)

I'm an odd bird, will probably not watch the episodes until the season ends. I also read that some players haven't seen the show at all yet, so waiting for them wouldn't make make much sense. The "carol wolf" bundle was a (slightly old) spoiler and prominently displayed for all. The good thing is that even if I like order and rules I'm not that sensitive to spoilers. If there's a big demand for discussions on this forum I think it's better to have a section for it than to try to forbid it. We all know about the guild section...

On the other hand I can't say that this forum needs to be the internet epicenter. There was a suggestion for a fan-art section that sounded cool, but after that there could have been requests for the TWD cooking club and NG is the one to draw the line. There are other fan sites and official discussion boards that could be the outlet for TWD discussions. And if I were NG I think I would rather want everyone to discuss how NML game relates to the story on those forums than to bring the TWD discussion here. Wouldn't spreading the word make more news than focusing it? Should we have a thread where people can post links to other interesting sites?

If you make the decision, I too think that a subsection would make most sense. It will not be limited to the TV show and the last episode, but a general discussion on the universe too, likely a lot about the Comics. So let people make threads of their own and wreck havoc as they please. I don't want the mods (in the long run) to spend time cleaning that section instead of watching the bug report threads.

So it's a no if you think it will distract you @Teeceezy, but somehow I guess you ask because you want it and in that case I'm all yes.

I think meeting in the middle...maybe tuesday or wednesday would be fair enough,
not everyone watches it sunday night or even monday night, but by midweek it should be fair game.

many people DVR the episode and a day or two should be enough time,,, any less and you're asking for trouble.

I would suggest an "official" discussion thread every wednesday night, this gives enough time for everyone to have a day to watch the episode.

Not watched?? Be aware of spoilers here. For me it's simple. I won't get here until I watch it.
Anyway you can find spoilers on every corner of internet ;)

    @Amiga true.

@Dread that's sounds like something I was planning. I'd make the thread every Wednesday, have it pinned at the top and clearly warn that there are spoilers inside. It would stay pinned until Sunday/Monday, and on the next Wednesday I'd make a new thread.

@JAG a separate sub-forum would be good in theory, however like you said, with the graphic novels being out it would require a lot of work from you guys to separate your novel and TV spoilers and from me to make sure nothing overlaps.

I'll let this run through and if it gets more positive responses, I might make the thread tomorrow night for EP10.

In our two guilds Suomikilta I / II we have guided that *no* spoiling about tv-series (or comics) in guild chats and hopely no talking about them at all. Instead we have one thread in our facebook group devoted to talking and titled like (translated) "Talking about the tv-series *SPOILERS* will follow".

I think it would be fine as long as there is a **spoiler** warning

Open thread with spoilers and everyone will be happy.
Why I have to hold my horses because somebody delays latest episode? Not my problem.
That person should avoid this thread or enter on own risk.

I don't see anything wrong with a spoiler thread, as long as it is clearly marked.

I do think that it should be only one thread per episode, officially sanctioned and opened by a mod.

I do not want to slog through every spoiler thread put up by fanboys, choking up the game forums.

While watching a new episode for a different AMC series last night they had a commercial for TWD which contained spoilers for the last episode.

I think @Teeceezy is doing the right thing by trying to find a middle ground for everyone here.

Don't be a squat cobbler... If it says spoiler inside do not click on it.

Its not my fault that people dont know Glenn died last episode.

Make a new TV show section instead of pinned in general.

if the thread title is marked with: spoiler and if there is no discussion allowed about the comic than i agree absolutly. Everyone has the choice to enter this topic or not.

@Teeceezy is there anywhere (maybe on the activity feed) a position where comments are showed directly (without choice to enter the topic)? keep that in mind please.

@shAd i do agree. Even though im a comic reader , they would either have to have a different thread for that or just say no to it in general.

How to talk about launched episode without saying facts? Impossible. Every single post will be with spoilers. Stupidity for me.
Like I said before - thread for people who already watched to talk about facts.

I didn't vote, because it doesn't matter to me. But I do agree with Dread and his view on it. Hopefully, those "Spoilers" don't leave the appointed thread, and leak into other areas of the board. If it does the moderators would be busy!

Since Fear the Walking Dead, and The Walking Dead are companion shows, would there be topics started for them when it resumes?
  • blynknzblynknz Member Posts: 1,988
I still don't understand why you have to wait 1+ days before you post. Can people not just jump on and join any discussion when they are ready?

Maybe just test one episode, see what happens. Maybe people wont talk about it and they will be pointless. No one mentioned anything in the thread I created, but that may have been because they thought you would ban them.
