I did ask this question, but got no response. From description this should stack with luck. I hope this time around somebody has the decensy to answer. Even if the answer is:. "we don't know ourselves" or "we want you to find out on your own".
I can't remember where I read it but from what I understand the body shot chance on hazard suit worked just like piercing. In that it isn't affected by luck, gold piercing reduces body shots by a flat 30% and gold hazard increases body shots from enemies by a flat 20%.
I must admit I can't remember ever seeing the body shot flash up. I haven't used my hazard suit armour too often but even at 20% on gold it's very rare for it to trigger
Luck's description reads: "Improves the chances that other traits will take effect by X%."
Piercing's description reads: "Reduces the chance that your attacks will result in Body Shots by X%."
Because Piercing works all the time, it cannot be affected by luck. This is similar to how Lethal or Iron Skin, other traits that use percentages in their descriptions, are not affected by luck.
@bladgier As you might not realize. There is a delicate nuance in how a sentence is build up. Piercing changes a chance by a set percentage, therefore piercing itself is not a chance. It only alters the percentage of a chance. This is not the same. As confirmed by shteevie in above post.
I realize this isn't quite on topic of the original question, but it could be useful for some people to have this info included here, given the thread title:
This is important info , especially piercing . For me the survivor luck trait is far less important if true. I can't find the thread , but believe we were told long ago that luck affects all the traits with the word "chance" in them . Clarification would be great here
And the "melee attacks only" for the hazard thing is that also really true ? @Kaz
Nope! And I've just tested myself and Hazard suit has a chance of working for ALL attacks, not only melee (so the description is correct). Sorry about that! Hope it didn't affect any strategies out there in the meantime! I've edited my previous comment as well!
Here's the list of the traits affected by Lucky: - Bullet Dodge - Charging - Concussion - Dodge - Incendiary - Interrupt - Silenced - Stun Resistance - Swift Strike - Threat Reduction
For the Leader traits, it depends on the Hero, so Lucky affects only: - Silent Shot (Daryl's) - Good Out of Bad (Sasha's) - Mysterious Ways (Gabriel's) - Thinning The herd (Michonne's) - Second Chance (Carl's) - Bodyguard (Jerry's) - Aim For The Head (Carol's) - Mullet Time! (Eugene's) - Defensive Charge (Morgan's)
Do body shots work in the same way as dodge? I.E after a certain RSL there is no chance of bodyshotting? Could a level 30 walker bodyshot a level 1 survivor wearing this?
What’s up all! I got a question to add that I believe hasn’t been answered.
Does anyone know if Hazard Suit and Bulletproof stack for ranged attacks? Couldn’t find any info about the two working together.
I can't remember which thread it was on but I remember reading that they were two separate rolls rather than stacking. There used to be a glitch where bulletproof would work for all attacks until it was patched.
I had screenshots of NG telling Christoph that it's a direct stack on ranged attacks. Don't know if he's on the forum, but we've definitely talked about it before. Has this been debunked though?

Piercing and bulletproof increase a chance that is already there by a set amount of %.
Hazard suit is its own chance. Just like dodge.says:
X% chance to dodge
Hazard suit says:
X% chance at body-shot.
This difference is the whole explanation why piercing does not get increased (decreases chance at body-shot by x).
Where NG to show any consistancy, then hazard suit should be handled exactly the same as dodge. Because descriptions are the same.

Edit: nope it is not. Piercing that is. No luck effect on that.
If not: Here.

EDIT: THIS STATEMENT HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE INCORRECT. See comment further along in this thread
Is luck a factor in bulletproof and/or hazard suit trait?
I think,
Luck
"Improves the chances that other traits will take effect by x%"
This means.
Piercing"Reduces the chance your attacks will result in body shots by x%"Bullet proof"Increases the chance of body shot by x%"Hazard suit "All attacks against this survivor have a x%chance to be body-shots"
Dodge "Has a x% chance of dodging"
I really feel like last two are in a way very similar and thus I think luck interacts with both.
I know piercing doesn't interact with luck. Bullet-proof is very similar in wording.
I was far from joking.
Luck trait says "improves the chances"
Piercing says "reduces the chance"
Hazard suit says "all attacks have % chance"
Hence why luck ought to affect all of the above.
Doesn't matter if "increases" or "has %chance" or "reduces"
All of the above should be affeced by luck by description.
If not, this need to be clarified and refrazed by NG.
Edit: NG did confirm and piercing isn't affected by luck.
Piercing however, is a fact. Luck does not help piercing.
Lucky affects Hazard Suit, Bullet Dodge and Dodge.
Lucky doesn't affect Piercing
Remember to use your charge abilities
No, luck does not help hazard suit.
Well, he thought that was the case,
but then Shteevie Chimed in.
Again.
Luck does not help Hazard suit. Look here

A dodge can be countered by a critical hit.
A body-shot can't. A body-shot is end all, except for charge attacks.
