GW gas prices

I'll start this by saying I really like the game mode. It's new, fun and different but the gas economy has basically ruined it for me. We get 20 gas for free, 10 from the distance and 20 which we can buy from the shop which are one time buys for the entire season.
During a single battle, at 2-3 minutes a mission it's not unusual to burn through 20-25 gas per battle if you want to actually play through the entirety. Considering we can play 6 battles through the weekend I found myself holding back a little so I might actually be able to play past the first day... The prices for gas fills are utterly ridiculous. I get that it's new and you guys at NG want to hook the whales in but...

As a consumer, do I pay £1.99 to play the challenge, distance, scavenge and outpost to my hearts content for 24 hours or do I pay £2.99 to play 5 GW missions in 10 minutes? Or how about 4 days worth of unlimited play vs 20 GW gas which might last me 1 hours worth of play? You've obviously put a lot of time into this game mode, don't ruin it

Guild Wars = Gold Wars
Pay to win.
Shame too because it was a lot of fun. Hoping those whales enjoy it every weekend as much as I did this once.
I'm so bitter/sweet lately, this game has me in a love hate relationship lol

Many of the players can't play the whole battle and there's 6... Talking about top guild here.
Some good Some not so much..GWs is fun and exciting for old players like me but on top of Gas prices being more then i put in my RL car in a week ..I don't think i can afford to keep playing GWs..I went through 34 gas in 1 war and ended up buying more ..I can't and won't do so again..GWs is going to be a whoever has the deepest pockets kinda game .. On top of that trying to arrange a time with min 7 ppl to be online..
Is damn near impossible.. Thanks guys ..
We don’t have so much playing teammates to do more...
Synchronicity of members
Members even bothering to play
Injury (gold)
Diversity (not everyone has deep A Teams)
Coordination (only chat to manage tasks, overlapping wasted effort on Enemies)
That said... I've found those to be opportunities:
Guilds adjust to organize around play times = more sociability
More strategy required in character and gear development = you discover new synergies.
Using a game plan to maximize the VP results from members (low levels gets their VPS in Forest, gas-rich producers find Enemies and low-gas heavy hitters mop up Enemies). A guild has to work with its level gaps and actually collaborate to maximize what they brought to the battle.
So I think the war gas is a big part of the strategy.
Would I like to see all of the content? Actually have a chance at a full clear? SURE! Would I appreciate it six months from now if it was easy or just required time? Probably not. Especially if that meant all the above cooperation was reduced to merely finding a guild online when you are.
That said: my one-weekend impression is that I have to change game play focus, guild, or spending to ever see all of the war.
That is a hard trifecta of choices of what to spend or lose, to feel that I've completed the entire experience in which I've invested time and treasure for years. I'll never be #1 on a leader board, fine. But never seeing a full sheet on GW? bummer
Use it or lose it! War Rations!
That idea would require some logic to allow contributors to use 'their' gas as long as they are participating, but then allow GW producers to siphon gas from (for example) folks who didn't use any of their day 1 keys.
It would get REAL war, REAL fast, in some guilds! Sure.
But mixed-interest guilds might find it to be a good compromise between "supporting the war effort" versus "being thrown into the thresher for 30 VPs, least you be branded Vichy swine".
I'll assume that you and yours could wipe every map up.
Did you read my question above about how little that I would enjoy another Distance (ultimately)? More of interest to me, do you think my assessment of the use of gas to drive strategy is salient?
You describe your guild as one needing no strategy or coordination (beyond gas efficiency). You crush so fast that balancing troop quality or timing seems irrelevant. So gas.... Just stops you from... What?
Another (boring) Hard Distance?
Another (bought) Leader Board?
Maybe this game mode isn't designed for end gamers?
Maybe it's the last gasp of Buy Leader Board?
I dunno: I'm only 68, still grinding scavenge, still debating where my XP goes.
No one on my 6 teams spent cash either. We barely knew what was up, but holy crap, we opined and ranted. Maybe this 'forced' (elective) game mode is changing us as we bicker and moan?
(we won all battles nevertheless.)
It has nuances that people unaccustomed to institutionalized success might appreciate. I even consider it a brilliant first effort at using currency to drive strategy. I also see cracks and flaws, ... But I'm trying to figure out the best for all with my suggestions (that you will not deign to entertain).
Enjoy your disappointment.
I will kneel and drag myself away from Your Presence.
> I also apologize for daring to mention you, whom I respect, in a post in which I was so audacious to think I might be able to help you.
> I will kneel and drag myself away from Your Presence.
Go reread the very first two sentences on your first reply to me. Those types of statements usually aren't followed up by how your going to help me. Maybe your approach needs a little softening.
I'll assume that you and yours could wipe every map up.
Not my conversation, @Cronus, but these are compliments bro

However, I do think there is a balance to be struck that isn't quite there with GW yet. In days gone by when I was a top player on some other big mobile games, I could still get into the top 100 or so players with minimal spend on in-game resources, and the right commitment and skill. Clearly this isn't the case with GW, where you definitely need to spend a fair bit to be in the top tier. There needs to be other ways to get more GW gas.
With guild wars there's no middle ground. You either pay nothing and play with what little resources they give for free, or you open your wallet and get ripped off.
