@Kaz Any proposals for this week's coming Challenge (19th)
We are going to keep it as it is at the moment, so purchasable gas once per day during the challenges and the same difficulty progression. We are going to return these testing again in January because a lot of people are taking some days off for the holidays season and the ones that are not, are focusing 100% on the Guild Wars issues.
So I guess it's better to have something grindy but working than something broken, haha. I'll make an announcement about that soon.
Thanks!
Why not take it back to a normal challenge til January? Am tired of losing players who are fed up with this race to the brick wall and done by Thursday or Friday. Has done more than anything so far to kill rewards, as they still suck, and get less than before with lack of rounds to play. TG's are down, social aspect is all but dead as people get to where they are stopped and don't even log in for last two to three days.
Sheesh there are many of us who like the challenge and would like to play it than get to 30 or so and dead stop because we can't buy our way to the higher levels. Maybe give us a few weeks to actually enjoy the damn challenges again?? Have lost 5 players due to this stupid setup. and really tired of finding the elusive player looking when so many are saying hell with it and leaving guild and many cases the game. Not a smart business model to gear it to one set of people and hell with the rest attitude am seeing from NG anymore
@Dragonfyre You can play the distance for free if you log in during the last two to three days. There's more ways to get to the higher levels than 'buying' your way to it
@Dragonfyre : totally agree with you, but I fear this isn't the medium to speak up anymore as different opinions are ridiculised and killed instantly:(
@Dragonfyre Man, so much wrong with your statement. Perhaps the most incorrect is thinking the only way to get past 30 is to "buy your way" there. Can you enlighten me on where I send my money to get past 30? Maybe you should learn the strategy of the game before making uninformed comments like that.
@Dragonfyre I only read your post to understand why it was so unpopular. Reducing grind is probably the single biggest request.
I'm not an end gamer but can catchup any time I want really if I choose to prioritise tomatos over actual gameplay. I have level 23 survivors apart from lvl 24 warrior and bruiser. I can clear Difficulty 30 without hospital costs, and with suboptimal gear, as I haven't sought to speed up the process of upgrading with purchases.
Now compare that to your proposal. With the time I have available to play, I would have to purchase gas booster every week to get that far. Don't forget there is Distance to play on Saturdays as well.
I think many players have said it already, but I know I haven't, so I believe what you guys are facing is more like a communication issue rather than a problem with the difficulty progress changes itself. One thing to keep in mind is that the way you express your feedback sets the tone of the discussion. And my fear is that when the discussion gets heated, the actual arguments get lost.
I could be wrong, of course, but our changes shouldn't be causing any harm to anyone other than the ones who want to spend more time playing challenge missions, but let me try to show why these should be good for you as well.
(This is from another thread by the way. :P) - Reducing the grind is indeed aimed at high-end players, but lower/mid shouldn't reach the level where you start getting fewer rounds. - If they do, they are getting the very same rewards, consuming less gas and using less time to get there. it gets harder faster, that's true, but all the rewards were readjusted in order to reward the player according to the difficulty they are. The list readjusted rewards can be seen here: https://forums.nextgames.com/walkingdead/discussion/37721/feedback-thread-faster-progression-readjusted-rewards-and-next-weeks-proposal/p1 - Every player is getting to the good stuff faster. If a low/mid-level player is not getting there now, they weren't getting there before either. - If you've reached the maximum you can get on Friday already, then our changes actually worked and you'll have the weekend to focus only on Guild Wars or on The Distance.
Long story short, this new setup only saves time and gives you the same number of rewards.
Now, one thing that I think it's a bit unfair, is to think that we don't care about every single player we have in the game. We do. And that's why I'm answering you and trying to show you how can you actually benefit from those changes. The new setup only remove 5 rounds exactly because we are taking into account all our player base and not only veterans/highly-engaged players.
If you are missing the Crate Rewards after the Challenge Missions and you don't want to run Scavenge Missions (I understand, they do become boring after a while) then by playing only a couple of Guild Wars battles you can get really good rewards such guaranteed Legendary Weapons, Abe/Class tokens and if you go a bit further, you can even collect tokens for the new Huntsman Daryl.
If you really think I'm missing something and you and your guildmates are having a really bad experience, feel free to calmly explain it so we can hopefully address this problem too!
Burning out players is a real problem and we just experienced that during our first Guild Wars battle. If you are playing less and want to play more, we've just added a new game mode to the game.
Thank you for reading this far and I hope it helps (and sorry for the long text)!
All good @Kaz less grind, max stars in challenge can be reach faster. Its a bit harder but we’ll get used to it. GW is 👍, distance is boring as usual but if we want the rewards it shouldn’t be a prob. Time & Gas management is key to everything especially GW. Keep up the good work 👌🏼
I opposed to the change in the challenge at first but now it's been going for a few weeks I'm used to it and because I'm facing tougher enemies quicker I have improved my game.
I love being done by Friday night with the Challenge. That gives me time to do The Distance on Saturday and the Guild Wars when we do them. If there is any need to push further, I can do that on Sunday. I now stop when I hit 9 Round Passes and about 1250 Stars at 33.1.
@Dragonfyre : totally agree with you, but I fear this isn't the medium to speak up anymore as different opinions are ridiculised and killed instantly:(
Couldn't agree more. Seems I best keep my opinions to myself as is easy to see that trying to speak for those who don't against the majority here who want it their way, am easily shot down
Whatever. My guild falls apart much more can count me as another of many leaving too sadly.

Nice attack. I have been here since day one in game actually and bet I know as much as most. Yet am watching this endless messing with the one fun aspect and social part of game being slowly ripped away from the avg player and speak for them I am attacked? Remind me to stay silent I see so not to offend those who consider themselves so much better than me!
Also thought attacking a player here was not allowed? I guess for some there is no such rule eh?
> @Dragonfyre said: > > Sheesh there are many of us who like the challenge and would like to play it than get to 30 or so and dead stop because we can't buy our way to the higher levels.
This.
> @Kaz said: > @Drhoo@Dragonfyre > > One thing to keep in mind is that the way you express your feedback sets the tone of the discussion. And my fear is that when the discussion gets heated, the actual arguments get lost. >
And this. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and no one is being lambasted for having one but when one of the main points to your argument is this, then you're not going to get a positive reaction. It's an ignorant and rude assumption that just because you can't get past RSL30, anyone who can must only be able to do so with money. You can't start flinging wild accusations like that and then play the victim. It doesn't work like that I'm afraid.
@Dragonfyre if you've been here since day one but still can't get pass rsl 30 you must be doing something wrong not everyone who can spend money instead of making accusations why don't you learn from other players 5 months ago I couldn't beat hard distance but since watching @crambert_nec and @mimica vids I complete it on regular basis now I even try my own tactics and strategy my advice to you is go and watch some vids you might learn something
And the attacks keep coming. Might be nice to see someone from management step in and stop this shit eh?
I never said is me. I said is many players I know having this issue. The game is geared to high end players at the expense of others. I spend countless hrs trying to help others get better with what I know. Yet the bar keeps getting pushed and they get left behind faster and thus leave. So maybe stop the attacks on me and quit acting so superior when ya do NOT know who I am? Sheesh. No wonder players won't post here if their views don't match the attackers
@Dragonfyre You made a comment basically implying the only way to get past 30 is to pay your way there. The comments made after the fact are pointing out how wrong that is, nothing more, nothing less. It's a strategy game, of course some people spend more than others and can get to certain levels faster, but you hardly need to spend a small fortune in order to get past the point you mentioned. That's what upset some people.
I wouldn't necessarily agree the game is geared towards higher end players. Maybe at the moment with these changes NG is testing out, yes. But before they made some of these changes it was definitely geared towards low and mid level players, with the challenge being the best example of that. The low level grind was too much. You actually had to spend a small fortune in order to just get to a level where the game became challenging for higher level players.
Also, it's not just the elite gamers attacking the opinions of the other gamers. It's working vice versa as well. Pretty sure I tripled the amount of disagrees I've had based solely on my comments on these challenge balance threads lol, not to mention a fair amount of insults, pettiness, and sarcastic assholery flung my way as well.
Let me grab that out from harm's way. Pretty sure I'll be needing it again in the future. And I only have one.

Nice attack. I have been here since day one in game actually and bet I know as much as most. Remind me to stay silent I see so not to offend those who consider themselves so much better than me!
Also thought attacking a player here was not allowed? I guess for some there is no such rule eh?
So is Guild Wars is not a social aspect to the game then? In fact more so than Challenge?
Come on man. It's fine to speak your mind. But if you say senseless things there's gonna be a backlash. Nobody replying to your posts has broken any rules. It's that you made remarks that were incorrect.
This forum is actually one of the most respectful and fun I've seen. These people you say are attacking you have mature lyrics, patiently and pleasantly explained why they disagree. Kaz came along to calm it down a bit. That seemed the logical point to follow suit.
When a bunch/group of people keep coming at you it can and does feel like attacking. Reading through all of this it should of stopped long ago. Don’t agree with someone, move on. Don’t keep telling them they’re wrong and why and then tell them they aren’t being attacked and why. Just stop and move on 👌🏼
So Kaz. Is this now my life if I stay on forums that every time I log in yet another attacks me and NOTHING is done? Thanks for showing me that my views being in the minority here are open to attack constantly now. Yet I was singled out? Well played. Ban me if ya want but they keep attacking? I will defend myself.
These people you say are attacking you have mature lyrics, patiently and pleasantly explained why they disagree. Kaz came along to calm it down a bit. That seemed the logical point to follow suit.
The latest shot at me in case ya missed it. I won't dignify the name as am so sick of being told what I am and how superior everyone else is to me and how I should act.
forum used to be moderated, i was banned many times for saying very little. now i see in threads if you have the "wrong" opinion people can call u an idiot and thats fine.. i see in this thread what amounts to personal attacks...Everyone has an opinion that makes us human but its pretty fucking said to see the personal attacks on these guys posting here, disagree sure, offer advice sure, but enough of the crap. its a game play it have fun
The forum is moderated. In the past a little over moderated IMO.
Anyway, I lost interest in this thread some time ago & haven't read all comments in detail but what I have read don't appear to be personal attacks.
As I said, I haven't read everything in detail but if someone believes they are being unfairly personally attacked they can flag those posts.
Often what is the perception of one is different from others. Let's all try to keep the forum a friendly place & keep comments from getting too personal & in the best constructive way possible.
I really couldn't give a 💩 about the ★ count, so that is not my point, however I am in the "well my challenge time is shortened" camp.
It may we'll be, as has been inferred previously, that this is a game of tactics and I simply suck. It may be bad pulls of the RNG handle and getting mostly critical damage and critical chance badges instead of damage reduction and damage badges. It may be that I do not have the liquid resources to buy all the stellar gear and have to rely heavily on the RNG gods for gear that is not a waste space...
Heck it could be all three massed into a lump sum, but I have never yet beaten RSL 32. So missing 27.3, 28.3, 29.3, 30.3, and 31.3 is felt when I hit the wall.
I submit defense exhibit A on my behalf:

We all have the opportunity to say "sorry" or to rephrase what we wrote. But we decide not to do so because it's rather easier to just follow your current emotion other than thinking about how is your message going to be perceived. I know it's not the easiest thing to do because getting upset when someone says you are wrong is a natural reaction, but it's not impossible.
I'm not taking sides here, because I think everyone is kinda behaving the same (including myself telling you how you should post your stuff). We can create such a productive and positive environment here and we shouldn't be needing a moderator or anyone to tell you what's right or wrong.
Buuut, anyway... back to the original topic. We understand that this setup is not the best for everyone, but we do have a bigger issue with really engaged players that have been playing the "normal" format for a long time. The changes aren't that drastic though, from all the Ultimate Challenge formats we had, this is our "friendliest" one. We still want to make more changes (hopefully with code support) that should address the problem for both groups, but our team will still be focusing on Guild Wars improvements for the next update, meaning that we are going to stick with the current format for now and maybe do some other tweaks in January.
So please, chill down and be nice to each other in the meantime. Otherwise, Santa will give you a piece of coal. 🎄
It is probably impossible to set up the challenge in its current form in a way that will satisfy everyone.
I personally don't feel my challenge has been cut short, neither on my main nor my two alts (one with level 22/23s, the other with 20/21s).
There have also been no complaints in my guilds (and there have been plenty during the old UC versions).
However, some things are just factual and that is that you don't lose guild rewards if you all get to the same RSL as before and that you save gas and time that you could use to play other modes.
Of course this doesn't do much if you hate everything but the challenge...
I really hope that something better can be implemented that will benefit more players. No one wants either the high achievers to quit because they burn out or the newer/mid level players because they feel like they are being left behind.
