PLEASE fix game balance/ economy!

There are plenty of threads about broken game balance - economy and there is still no clear answer when we can expect serious changes in this subject.
Today I decided to play few exploration missions to get more supplies but when I received 10k supplies after mission I just gave up!!!
Of course I need 2.3 mil to upgrade training ground...or more than 2200 gold.
Right now I don't get fun playing this game and play less than usual
I will not mention again XP upgrading cost problem because enough has been said in this subject as well...

Please fix this huge balance problem.
With respect

Fixing ANY economy is a difficult and complex task. They recently acknowledged looking at the problem. That's the first step. Yes the amount we make is low compared to what we need - but that particular issue can be addressed in more ways than one.

Increasing what we earn now would effectively be just kicking the can down the road. Eventually we would be in the exact same situation as we are now because the scaling itself is broken.

Remember, scarcity of resources is one of the key themes in The Walking Dead. We *should* have less than we need - Alexandria is starving for food, and the Hilltop has no ammunition. They need to figure out where that fine line is of 'too much' vs 'too little' and then walk exactly on that line.

In any case, we will definitely need a client update... So even in an absolute best case scenario I would say don't hold your breath - a change is still several months out.

Game need quick fix otherwise many ppl will stop playing. I can't see any more possibilities to gain more supplies ect. Paying a lot of ££ is not a solution.
2.5 mil to upgrade one building is a cost of £15 for me is unacceptable

Perhaps they could install trading in the challenge crates for supply or xp fill up. Doesn't have to be full, but enough to give us more options.

I personally think they need more distractions then to make it easier simply because the game needs longevity. Once pvp becomes worked out they can start pvp events as well. Maybe work more replays into the game like unlocking nightmare or even just making it reset to normal after doing a zone in nightmare. Then give incentives to push through it again. Finish all nightmares get a legendary toon of your choice or something.
When soft cap comes I quit the game.

I love new gas price but don't see the point to refill it. I don't see the sense to make exploration missions so NG loosing profit from buying gold. It's big problem

@Amiga Not that many. The number of people at the 2.35 million upgrade level is undoubtedly very small.
This would be less of a problem if we had one challenge per week, so we could spend time farming tomato missions instead of going for stars also.

That is why I am asking for a tomatoe event. Like all zombies killed give tomatoes for a weekend in place of exp.

I would like to farm tomatoes but amount which we receive is horrible. Game was superb until council lvl 15. Now for ppl 40+ is a pine in the ass.
Farming tomatoes when rewards is around 15k is a waste of time for me... No thanks....

@amiga it all adds up, and you're forgetting bonus tomato cards. Farming tomato missions(all day) I've been able to make >600k tomatos in a single day.

At 6 gas per mission, you get 24 missions worth of gas. Not including gas you wake up with(another 3 and a half missions worth).

Even if you only do 20 missions, at 15k a piece, that's 300k per day, or about 9 days of farming to reach 2.35 million.

Granted, that's assuming you ONLY do tomato missions, which I agree is a problem right now, especially because of the dual challenge per week.

You can also travel by bicycle from Germany to France.. it will take few days ;) everything is possible but let's be serious. Who have so plenty of time? It's adult game but adults have a lot of responsibilities. Farming whole day tomatoes? I wish ;)

It probably is a bit better than that. The chances are that someone looking to hit 2.35 Million is fairly advanced in the game.

The sweet spot on Farms is level 7 according to posts, but I upgraded all I have (5) to Lvl 8 when waiting for council upgrade and pretty much everything else was upgraded. So I produce 7,000 Supplies per hour or 168,000 a day. 5 Lvl 7s would produce 132,000 per day. So it is probably around 11 missions a day for 9 days with 5 lvl 7 farms. Not saying the number isn't still staggering, but not quite as dire. :)

XPs are a bit more work, but I am scraping pretty much all the gear I get at this point and working towards TGS to pull legendary. Then there are the couple of good XP farming missions.

Again, I agree that these things do seem extremely high. And the scrapping amount for gear that has been upgraded is low. (Survivors a bit better in scrap value.) But it is somewhat doable. Though seeing the amounts needed to get legendary gear upgraded and the cost of the recent round of building upgrades, if this scaling continues at this rate by two councils from now, if not in fact the next council, the costs will be something that makes the upgrades a non-issue. Meaning they happen when they happen and really will no longer be a realistic target to try to reach. Will farm on the quick gas events, otherwise will more go with the flow. (I am in the Zen And The Art Of Zombie Killing mode :) )

I have not checked ratios of levels/costs, but there was a point where it switched from having something attainable to "Yeah, I will get there when I get there. Or not." for me.

Right, nobody's arguing that the economics are good. They do need changing and the developers did acknowledge the problem already.

My main points are that it is still doable, that the number of users really having the problem is extremely tiny compared to the overall playerbase, and that this is a major undertaking. If fixing an economy were so simple, the world wouldn't be in trouble right now. Kinda hilarious to say that NG should be able to do a quick fix when people who are supposedly economics experts keep getting it wrong 100% of the time.

I'm still having fun, and I already managed to upgrade my training grounds and workshop since they updated the game. I didn't use any gold, although I did start saving tomatoes before the update. I'm about half way to 2.35 again to upgrade my radio tent, also. I expect to start that by Thursday.

They need a Walmart style "Rollback" event, where the prices/time for upgrades of all sorts roll back to level 7 amounts. :)

I am one of those people trapped in the 2.35 for each building upgrade level. It's really not any fun.
I have a serious question. Honestly, I have never played this type of game before, so this was a learning experience for me. I can say I enjoyed it most down around council level 5 through 10 -ish, once I had figured out how it all worked and what the best strategies would be and the upgrades were not so ridiculous. Another unique side to my situation is I actually do have time to sit here and play as much as possible, since, as I have mentioned before, I am out of work atm w/ a chronic illness. So I have played this game in a crazy non-stop way since just after it was released.
    Here is my question:
With non-stop play for roughly 4 1/2 months now, how much longevity do you all really want? At some point the upgrading has to end.
    Here is another question:
I have noticed a lot of people seem to regard the weekend challenges as the main part of the game and the story missions as secondary. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? I find the challenge missions to be so very boring, and not a challenge at all, and just a waste of gas with very low returns.

and, finally, a suggestion to the devs:
This might sound a little bit too generous, but how about a weekend event for upgrades? Something like...upgrade any one building for free...or any 2 survivors for free....or any 3 weapons/gear....or some combination of those? It certainly would help relieve the balance issue at least temporarily. It is basically the same as claiming a free full xp or a free full food storage, which are also possibilities.

On the bright side, we'll get another farm plot after the next council upgrade..... :/

I would like to see the addition of a "Swap Shop" where you can trade other players for gear they don't want/need for gear you have and don't want/need. I pulled a duplicate very nice Epic shooter armour exactly like one I had already. I would love to be able to trade it for upgraded armour for my Epic warrior who has terrible armour.
  • PerdtinPerdtin Member Posts: 783
@NCDawgFan The issue is then the economics of the game can get radically shifted. I do think that there is a imbalance in terms of upgrades, and even money to progress in the game at a certain point (for $2.99 or $4.99 now and again, I am chipping in, at $19.99 for continuous drag and grind) not so much. And in my guild we were discussing how cool it would be to share. But there is a chance for some abuse here. I love the idea though.

Diablo3. auction house is NO good idea.

    @Amiga
why another thread? NG has already stated that the balance between production/farming amd prices are not perfect. But its npt so easy to change/balance such things.

in my opinion the 2.35M are ok. Iam free2play and upgraded my council and my TG. And iam saving atm ressources for my radio tower.

The game gets too steep at level 40+. These are experienced players but they won't pay for more gold. Create a bigger pool of raising TG by injecting more TG into the system. That will help satisfy the players at the high end who have invested in high level survivors. And then just flatten out the cost to upgrade buildings and players after a certain level. Let the hardcore players duke it out instead in the pvp

Yeah the two seconds to tweak something is so overwhelming. Take a look at EVERY weekend event with the quick things to make it work. Stop. Just stop with the apologist stuff about things they should be handling without any problem if they want to. They are very nice and are kind. And I do like that a ton. And I will stick with the game. But in terms of the number of employees and the amount of money generated, the vast amount of what is going on is not even remotely acceptable.

I'm not sure if this has been answer yet but my problem is that it cost 1.52 million to upgrade my farm but the return will take 422 days on my investment. It moves up 150 tomatoes a hour. That's 3600 a day. 1.52 million ÷ 3600 is 422.22 Is there going to be some sort of balance in the future? Maybe more per hour?

That is NOT the way to go. The mods are actively merging threads. Every one that is created will get merged with others dealing with the same topic. It accomplishes nothing excepts make the job of VOLUNTEER mods harder. They play the game too. Every minute they have to spend cleaning up these messy threads is a minute they don't get to play the game.

@Amiga @thebluebox no need to move.

@thebluebox Lighten up a bit! Sometimes it's good to have multiple threads because it shows the importance of topics. If an in game issue or topic pops up, it is almost expected that a lot of threads will pop-up. We merge with discretion and do so only when we think it is needed.
