GW 1.5x draw multiplier

Hey,

Since Guild Wars is starting next week, I just wanted to quickly share that we will implement the suggested 1.5x multiplier for all Draws in GW.

This was an initiative and suggestion that was brought up by the community in order to remove the feeling of getting "punished" for reaching max scores, and thus ending in a draw (which gave the 1.25x multiplier). We did also discuss the option of adding this only to max scoring draws, but the above implementation was seen as a better option in this situation. We will keep an eye on the change and results, and follow-up if deemed necessary.

Let's see how this affects things, and as always, feel free to share thoughts or feedback on the matter

This is awesome! I'm not in a guild likely to be affected, but this will make the leaderboard much more relevant and fair, which is good for all of us.

I was the one to warn against the potential this would be abused, but I think these cases will be very rare and certainly less problematic than the issue you solved by implementing this.

Glad to see our suggestion being implemented!

Hopefully it'll help mitigate issues we discussed in the other thread with @Burmeliinis and we won't see much abuse as anticipated by @Paste

Both guilds can arrange a draw

This patch should only work for maximum results

After many complaints, NG implemented this solution. Now you disagree because of some marginal cases.
How many guilds are in such a good relation to make such a deal?
How many guilds willing to make such a deal actually can do it? They really need to work to make the same score ( same islands, same misses ...)
Come on, get real. Appreciate the solution that will remove many complaints.

If two guilds manage to tie purposefully, I'm going to be extremely surprised. It can and probably will happen. But that also means they both rank up faster and face more difficult opponents sooner.

What are they going to buy with those extra 500-700 points? Overpriced components to craft badges that still aren't needed in high level play? Red gas when there are so few losses because of smy? Green gas which just fuels challenge play? I just don't see abuse over the premium currency happening with this.

Even with teams sharing plans ahead of time, red gas is still likely to occur and then become difficult to match evenly. The novelty and challenge of a tie will eventually lose our attention.

I considered the potential problem of deliberate ties when the x1.5 Draw multiplier was first suggested... What feels like years ago? I even pointed it out.

But honestly, now, I'm inclined to agree with others here... I don't see this likely to be heavily abused. On the rare chance 2 teams of good will meet that have fast ready communication and the required coordination to pull off a deliberate tie... I say let them have it.

The best teams are already going for max score regardless, so it won't affect them, especially now that they are guaranteed the x1.5 if they run clean... No matter what.

Big picture, I see no problem here

(other than the possibility of a total season tie if 2 or more teams run the entire season without using a single red gas)

If 2 or more teams run max scores the entire season without a single red gas, they can share.

Then let someone start bitching about a tools used counter. But I think by that point it won't be an issue anyone cares about.
