The way investments were accounted for before worked perfectly and was not harmful at all, there was no reason to change it. Now GW has catastrophic bugs where some players and guilds score more without even realizing it and others take advantage of it and repeat the bug several times making a higher score and getting more rewards. I love playing GW it's what keeps me in the game, but the way this one can't keep it, for everyone's sake this season of GW should be stopped and restarted only when the problems are fixed, maybe going back to the model it was before will solve.
Agree. This is why I said there are likely some honest mistakes and it's unfair to punish those who don't really count swords. I'm sure NG can also run queries to see which teams have scores above the maximum and then look at logs to see which players exit the game after starting a mission to get extra swords (as reported above). That is clearly an exploit especially if multiple members on the team do it or if a player does it more than once. Now, what they're going to do about it is a different issue.
Chinese phones do that for you. If you switch away from the game just for a second to check a message in the guild Line/Discord chat they clear it from memory. Even the alarm app kills the game. I agree with your take that some guilds are willingly abusive this, but it's pointless to punish. The game is broken and needs to be fixed before restart the season.

Our opponents scored 1,289 points *above* a perfect score for an 8 player team.
We had two extra attacks. We did play them once we saw what the opponents were doing. We were nearly finished playing when we finally figured out what was happening.
I recommend suspending guild wars this week. Refund all tools used and gold spent on healing.
Edit to add that our opponents are still going. Their score just keeps climbing.
*edit*: logged into the forum today and somehow there were dozens of comments above mine instead of just the two I saw and replied to. As such my post made no sense and I deleted it. This is clearly more than a UI bug.
@Lexia The absolute maximum a team of 10 can earn is 14638 VP. These screenshots were taken 1 minute before the end of Tuesday battle, so No ×1.5 multipliers.
This bug didn't just affect today's battle or even this week. It completely messed up THE WHOLE SEASON's GW Leaderboards:
- 56 guilds who played T10 are over the max of 14638. - and who knows how many guilds fought T9 (and below) and got over the maximum.
I think the only choice is to stop the season, wipe scores, fix the bugs, and then start the season from the beginning -- hopefully this can be fixed quickly and just start the season next Tuesday.
There are individual scores that are off the rails and clearly intentional exploitation of known bugs. There were also players and guilds that don't plan and were confused and had some overages, but didn't intentionally exploit. And then there were guilds like mine that plan, strictly followed our plan, and did not use extra attacks that some of our players wound up with because we want to play fair and honorably.
We can't continue with a season where players that intentionally cheated are rewarded for it. And I don't think it sets a good precedent if we let these outlandish scores factor in to all time scores and leaderboards, etc.
This one is actually an example of a guild that does not assign attacks and did not intentionally go over or intentionally create or intentionally use extra attacks. I was in close communication with their leader this evening, and it was definitely not intended. Their leader was also in communication with Lexia reporting it.
This win did not feel good for us. 40 mins after GW started, I was one of the first people DMing Lexia with screenshot that I had gotten an extra sword. If you see the Slack thread, you will see me updating on there that I did not want to win because of extra attacks. Unfortunately by the time I woke up and towards the end, none of us could tell what our actual attacks were. We definitely didn't play this war to 'game' the system or cheat anyone because like I was joking to someone 'we aren't smart enough' and our GW plans are always 'Operation Wing It'. We go entirely unplanned and Unfortunately it seems we had about 4 extra attacks used today.
@Lexia Before anyone wastes more time and resources, please shut down GWs, fix the easily replicated and easily exploited bug that everyone now knows about by either happening upon it accidentally or by reading about it, reset all scores, fix the bugs, and then relaunch the season from the start.
Otherwise Wednesday is just going to be worse than Tuesday was. There will be guilds completing all the maps on the entire board. Take a look at individual scores from today and you can start to figure out who was intentionally exploiting the extra attacks bug.
There is no option other than restart the season as if Tuesday never happened, once these bugs are fixed. There's no way to make the leaderboards fair this season, or even the RP earned. And these scores should not be allowed to factor in to the all-time leaderboards either.

What are we gonna do about it?
Reset GW season and LB to zero after fixing bugs?
Pray to GW gods and hope for the best?
We need answers.

And? Did @Lexia answer? Here we have no news...
