make gw harder, plz

Lets try to finde some ways to increase difficulty. My idea is, to implement special walker spawns, similar to last stand. So getting through, will be more exciting again.

What's going on with guild wars now? Been hearing problems with mode selection and blue dot?

You left out the most important one: red gas costing a sword. Meaning you will not be able to close sections if you don't have any spares.

Nah, I don't want it to be hard. It's hard enough keeping 20 ppl in a guild engaged every week as it is. Just collect your free stuff every season and quit being a try-hard.

in my opinion, measured in ng standards gw works absolutly proper.

but i miss times, where i did not fell asleep when i entered highest lvl. last battle 14 of 24 top guilds maxed. what a boring competition.

to bring back diversified results ng should implement some more difficulties. for example star hero bonus or special walker spawn. lower guilds will still get special equipment from gw-shop. that's sure. and top guilds get back competitive fun

For me, asking for gw to be harder is pretty selfish and ignorant of all the players who still find it tough.

I don't understand how it's selfish to ask for GW to be harder? At least for the higher sectors.

    THERE ARE 20 ISLANDS.

What's the big deal if there is one or two that are more difficult to beat? If players don't want to do the toughest islands because it's too hard, then they have plenty of other sectors to choose from. Let's be honest, if anyone is being selfish it's the the ones that don't want any increase in difficulty because they just want GW to be as simple as possible, so they can still beat the highest sectors, collect their free stuff and hurry back to their precious Challenge. After all the REAL CHALLENGE  is the Challenge, that's why it's called the Challenge!

I just have one message for these players, I don't blame you. I don't think they're really selfish. I'm not going to attack their character the way some of them are attacking players who are asking for more of a challenge. I think the real problem is they're addicted to the game. They want to complete everything, and the idea that they may have to spend more time on GW, while also NEEDING to complete the Challenge every week, and maybe the Last Stand, Distance, and Outpost too, is just too much for them. It's OK to not do everything, or to even take a break once in a while. I don't complete the challenge every week and I am OK with that. You can learn to be OK with not going 100% at GW. I'm here for you if you need support.

Edit: I said that some players may be addicted to the game. However, I don't think it was appropriate to use that term. I will say that they're the type of gamer that would be referred to as a completionist. Trying to complete everything can lead to burn out, and this may be why some players are against increasing the difficulty of some modes since they're content with the way things are, and they don't want to feel compelled to do more "work."

Well you're wrong about running back to the challenge. The top can run it clean in a few hours the same way they can crush the highest island. The point is if it can be completed by the top 1% then why does it need to be implemented? It doesn't matter how many high level stun resistant walkers they add to glitch wars because people will still kill them at level 50, level 100 it doesn't matter. Unless NG is going to ban tools, Mercer, and the overpowered 🍪 support. The only thing it will add is time. Instead of finishing maps in 5 mins it will take people 20-30+ mins and tools. Weeeee, another reason to celebrate being an addict! More screen time! ;)

    Deja Vu, ain't it 🤣

We literally had SH in GW several years ago, with 15% VP bonus...
    It failed miserably 😆

    why make game harder?
How about back to original.  All hero traits are +X% damages and/or +X% health, just like Jesus & Abe.   No more special trait weapons, no push mechanism, no stun, all 3 charge points.......
Then, most of bugs will be evaporated.  no complain.  peace world.

ok. why failed it? nowadays it's possible to max challenge. why not trying in gw?

even melee should get through with weakening + ensnare + tyreese/beth

It failed because the bonus from star hero calculations were always fucked up and wrong/unreliable. They were never able to sort out why so they killed star hero.

When they brought it back, they left off any guild wars component.

When will you realize that the problem is limiting the number of points you can score. Then you will realize that all your ideas are trying to solve exactly this problem. If you have limit of score points you can't get more even if you make gw harder

What are you talking about man? Are you actually suggesting to make Guild Wars have unlimited attacks? You've said things like this a few times. Maybe you should elaborate on your suggestion?

And off the cuff giving more attacks won't let better players win, it will just let players with more time win.

i'm talking about to change score calculation and give players more opportunity. Last Stand is good as example

@Bassreactor I'm sorry, but I cannot fathom what you are looking for.

You want individual missions point awards to not be fixed? But rather some kind of culmination of points based on how you kill the enemies in the actual mission? Is that it?

As I see it, there are really only three ways to make GW more challenging

    1. Have special walkers (fatties, metalheads, spikeys) spawn when the threat counter reaches zero or from piles. This would probably be the easiest to implement and might work fairly well - it could also mean threat reduction strategies might work their way into GW. Most probably this would, however, further encourage SMY tactics as only Mercer can take down specials as fast as needed in this kind of scenario. And people are complaining a lot about GW only being about SMY.

    2. Have a Last Stand Expert mode style limited amount of heroes available to get a VP boost. This could also work well, and would force players to use something else than SMY. Technically this might be hard, as it would probably require a different "mode", i.e. you would select to play a mission in expert mode instead of normal mode. We all know NG never managed to get the star hero bonus to work.

    3. Implement a "level playing field" type setup, where you would go back to the basics, to missions of the type @Cronus mentioned above. In this mode you would be limited to certain heroes, but also with certain weapons, armors and badges, and certain (or no) supports. This would absolutely mean some missions would become impossibly hard (as it was during the early part of GW), but the question is of course if people are willing to go back in time to the times when winning a mission was by no means guaranteed, even if you played perfectly.

It would be very interesting to see what results polling the forum on this issue would return

Only valid suggestion I see is making some islands limited to certain survivor types. Melee for both offenses and defense and ranged similar. Like already said it’s hard enough to get 10 peeps on the same page and making it harder across the board would discourage people from playing.

Guilds deciding who gets to be the lucky one spending more time on missions if some sectors become melee only:
