Hi @Lexia and NML community

Can we have a chat about the infused Carl’s Deadeye Pistol from the new GW shop? It’s one trait away from being the perfect PvP weapon for shooters (and also a brilliant weapon for defenders) but without that one trait changed it ends up middling into a confused gun with no real clear use or function. Range matters for PvP, and gold High Powered would make all the difference here. Whereas Ensnare on a PvP weapon seems of little consequence when Interrupt is already in the weapon.

But if this was for PvZs then Ensnare without Piercing doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Assault and hunter weapons? Yes! The Harrier is a fantastic example of this. But for single target weapons it doesn’t stack up to be worthwhile.

The coveted and highly anticipated spot in the GW shop of the high end infused weapon is something the whole community looks forward to and in recent shops you’ve been smashing it. The very least anyone could say about Dale’s Rifle, ROAR, Saviour Handgun and Harrier is that they’re very, very good weapons. Carl’s Deadeye Pistol is one trait away from that tier but as it is, kinda seems more like a collector’s item?

It’s not too late to change it. If there’s enough support from the community will you guys consider swapping Gold Ensnare for Gold High Powered?

I don’t mind about the silencer. If you can only change one thing please leave the silencer as it is

2 things wrong in this picture:

1. Ensnare on non-piercing pistol. It's OK last time around on the Harrier because it's also got cripple (i.e., it cripples on normal attack, chance of ensnare or CA on charged attack). But it doesn't make much sense here.

2. I do mind the silencer. Why put a silencer on a non silent pistol?

Mahoosive silencer on a non silenced weapon is just.. well wrong

The weapon as it stands makes no sense, please change to Gold High Powered

Correct me if I am wrong, but if you are talking about using this weapon for PvP then do you really need Piercing? It's not like we are facing lv 40+ enemies where body shots are 100% guaranteed. I have a defensive shooter that I use, who is typically equipped with an Incendiary weapon (no piercing), and I don't notice body shots that often.

I agree though, ideally Ensnare should be with Piercing (which is something I asked for in the wishlist

This was my thought as well regarding pvp. You don't need/want piercing for PVP. There's no point.

Dale’s and harriers and the savior are useful for both PvP and pvz.

But the way it is right now, the ensnare is kinda useless. Without high powered it’s quite useless for PvP, and without piercing it’s absolutely useless for pvz

so nothing interesting about it

Well I'm not disagreeing, but I'm going to get it anyway and find out. Might be a place for interrupt burn with a crit root option.

I totally agree with this point, I don’t think putting Piercing on this gun would make anyone very happy, it’d be a ‘meh’ weapon. I can’t speak for anyone else but what I’m asking NG to consider is taking Ensnare off this gun and replacing it with High Powered.

Fire, High Powered, Interrupt, Lucky would be a great weapon

This was my thought as well regarding pvp. You don't need/want piercing for PVP. There's no point.

I’m not sure I understand where you guys are reading anyone wanting Piercing on this weapon from.

Hmm… maybe. I’m not sure I’m quite seeing a request to put Piercing on this weapon though. There was a bit more on the end of this paragraph originally that I hope would’ve made the intention clearer.

But on the off chance that anyone might misconstrue the intention here hopefully the final paragraph would clear up any confusion…

Oh, I agree with all that. I was just wondering, in a general sense, if Piercing is really needed on an Ensnare weapon if it's purpose is to be used in PvP.

So that would mean the only thing you could afford to sacrifice (to get your High Powered) would be... Lucky?

Not willing to lose Interrupt, as it's the only thing that makes this weapon a bit different (and able to stop CW walkers).

I mean, what is everyone's plan for when a CW starts right next to you in GWs? Chuck flare every time?

I think I ought to rewrite this bit as it might be causing some confusion. I never meant to imply the one trait missing is Piercing. Even if you add Piercing to this it’ll still be pretty uninspiring, I think.

So to clarify, I only ever meant High Powered as the missing trait. Get rid of Ensnare and replace it with High Powered and this becomes a very interesting shooter weapon.

Of course, I can clarify yes!

My thought was solely and exclusively on having a good weapon for defense!

But I believed they would keep the silencer on her, along with luck as infused talent!

but the most important thing for us players is to know that NG is keeping an eye on our requests, that was clear!

So simply ENJOY!

Because it could be a simply horrible weapon....and we get an option to use it! I see it that way!

We are all looking to improve!

I get that it's crap, or at least that the majority think it will be. And I also get that once upon a time we did convince them to change something else that was crap. But they've held pretty strong to their not changing crap to non crap based on player input since then. And if they hold strong on this one then the result will likely be that on future crap gear we will not be begging them again. Or at least not as much.

I think we’ve lost this battle, but hopefully the dialogue has been helpful. Constructive communication between developers and players can only be helpful for future ideas, right? I’d guess the developers are also players and have their own thoughts on moving the game forward, there’s probably as much debate between them as there is among the player base. I don’t expect their intention is always to make the best and most powerful weapon possible, the game would soon get boring and ridiculous if they were doing that. But their goal, I would guess, is more aligned to doing things which are interesting. And on that front I’d say they’re incredibly successful.

You’ve won this one, developers! But I doubt you’d even want to beat us into submission entirely.

The only use this gun has is to stop commonwealth walkers in "fish in a barrel" which start 1 space away.

Well at least I'm not the only one who thought this thing was not worthy of buying. Now it if had High Power.. I'd get it.

BTW in real life suppressed firearms are very loud still.. just ear safe.. and even then, the big calibers still need to wear hearing protection. Only thing that is movie quiet is the 22LR.
