Farming

I noticed that a lot of people have been discussing the farming of levels 7.4 and 9.3 to gain XP by failing the missions to keep up with the XP demand of upgrading. I don't think the developers created this as an intended effect, but was an accidental finding. I know NG staff has allowed it to be a part of the game play in the past, but they may change this or alter it in some way in the future. I am sure that the coming of Outpost will change game play tremendously and make things more entertaining. This is a wonderful and still new game that is growing constantly. Currently, the way to farm XP is long and tedious and simple tapping the screen in the same 2 spots is not eventful.

I would like to suggest a method that may help people farm XP while making it much more entertaining. My idea comes from the game Plant vs Zombies 2 (great game). In the game there are story missions like in TWDNML, but it also has multiple side-story mission. One of which is an endless survival mode that constantly gets more difficult until the player eventually dies or loses in a given instance. When played again the mission resets itself and players can keep playing until it gets more difficult. The level also keeps track of highest wave achieved and lets players try to beat that achievement. This allows players to farm coins in an interesting manner and allows players to repeat the missions over and over.

Currently, explore missions do allow players to repeat the game over and over and the zombies do increase in level over time (+1 each level), but the amount of XP gained is very minimal compared to what is needed for upgrading (Max 30-50k XP a level maybe vs... 100-300k upgrades at higher tiers). While zombies do increase in level, the ability to farm them goes down significantly because of the exponential increase in health.

One way to do this is to make levels that are puzzle based and have players solve puzzles that progressively become more difficult. Start with level 1 zombies that increase, but have them barricaded for a set period of time that release and have a constant amount of XP awarded each time the puzzle is completed for example 5000 xp for 1st wave, 5000 for 2nd, etc until players get attacked or killed by the horde of zombies. The level ends and players are awarded the XP they gained and notes how far they got. The players then can start the endless mode again and repeat trying to get to higher waves.
Example of puzzles.
1. Move objects to specific spots.
2. Have survivors stand in specific places.
3. Have zombies follow a specific course to a target location (the zombies could be barricaded and follow survivor so they aren't harmed until it is in a specific spot)
4. Kill a target amount of zombies each wave
5. Destroy, collect specific objects.

After each puzzle is finished the XP is awarded (Total XP gained bar could be created).
After a certain amount of moves (say 10-20) a wave of zombie horde is released that need to be killed to proceed to the next puzzle. This gives players time to do the puzzle.
When survivors are attacked and killed during the puzzle or after when the horde is released the level finishes and awards points.
This level has no Victory or Defeat. Survivors can only be injured during puzzles that will cause them to go to the Hospital for recovery. Getting injured during a wave survivor will become injured for the level and subsequent waves, but if any survivors is injured and killed during a wave causing the level to end then the survivor only sustains damage from previous injuries and doesn't need to be hospitalized from the final attack). (Example: Say a player get to a wave where Zombie horde levels hit 21 and survivors only received minor injuries to this point. Then the survivors are killed by the horde, they will only need to be hospitalized for the minor injuries and won't
Defeat does not kill any survivors.

Please let me know what you guys think and if there are any other alternatives! I enjoy feedback and new ways of making the game more challenging!

How bought "The Highway Horde" one long highway littered with cars to be looted. The farther you go the into the horde the stronger and more frequent the walkers get, while the loot gets better and better.

I like this idea! Could be an endless highway. Puzzles to keep traveling on the road and overcoming obstacles as you move.

Make it like the challenges where there are lots of trunks, chests, etc to search but not everything has loot, after 3 unlocks/ loot you get a surprise chest to open. After you collect enough you can choose to return to camp and open chests like the challenges to see what's inside.

Agree with anything to make farming more useful. Now exploration maps give pathetic amount of resources.
