This is probably a stupid question... But, I have no idea what exactly XP is good for... I understand Building XP, I am just confused on what you do with normal XP. Any help would be much appreciated.

XP is needed to upgrade the survivors and the equipment.
The equipment -- weapons and armor -- have traits that are unlocked when upgraded. and you need XP to upgrade them.
That used to be true about the survivors as well but now we need tokens to unlock the traits on the survivors. As I understand it, the XP just upgrades the Damage and Health numbers.5
